is it safe to hang a guitar on a manufactured home wall? The walls are thinner than a regular home so I want to make sure its safe. Also, we are having a baby in march, so I want to get them up off the floor stands before the little one starts crawling and possibly have them fall over and hurting the baby or guitars.
What types of safes are better for the home>? A wall safe or free standing for iimportant papers and pistols.
Home fireproof safe that is secured to the floor or wall? I would like to buy a medium size fireproof floor safe (like those at Office Depot), but all I have available to place it on is a carpeted concrete slab. My fear is that if it is not firmly secured, someone with a hand dolly could remove it in minutes. Is there a way to secure a safe to a concrete floor or to wood studs on the wall where it sits so it can't be easily removed?
I just bought a home security safe, is it better to mount it to the wall or the floor? I guess I could put it in a corner and do both...but the instructions say not to do that. I remembered in my grandfathers house his safe was built right into the concrete floor in the basement. When the house was built they poured the concrete for the foundation right around the safe, then bolted the safe into the concrete from the inside. But that's not possible for me...
whats the strongest fixing for a home safe into a internal bre block wall? i've used rawlbolts 2 of them and it feels very sturdy although i wasn't satisfied when i tightened them they didn;t seem to offer much resistance and instead just kept turning whilst making very un healthy cracking noises as in the bolts were breaking the block.... but to try and pull the safe from the wall feels very secure..... do rawlbolts become tight like a screw might or is that as tight as they get..... and have i used the best fixings for the job if someone did try to take it i wanted it to be very very difficult..... any info would be helpful thanks

Can I leave my electric wall heater on during the day when I am not at home? We have no other source of heat besides 2 electric wall heaters and one gas space heater. How can you tell if something is structural in your home before tearing down a wall? We are wanting to open the kitchen to the living room a little more. We are needing to tear out a wall where another wall meets it in a "T". Would this be safe if it is only about a 5 foot section? The entire wall will not be tore down, only about a 4-5 foot section of it.
I have wall-to-wall carpets at home and a baby that just started walking.? I want to clean the carpets soon but I'm still debating what is the safest way to do it, any feedback would be appreciated???
What's the best way to protect baby from wall heater? I can't find any product that would work well to keep our little crawling baby safe from our home's electric wall heaters. When on they get quite hot to the touch, so I don't want her to get burned. It needs to be something she can't pull down. Any suggestions?
How was Roman housing similar to our home today and how did it differ? The lower class Romans (plebeians) lived in apartment houses, called flats, above or behind their shops. Even tradesmen might have chosen to live in an apartment-building compound over their store, with maybe renters on the upper stories. Their own apartments might be quite roomy, sanitary and pleasant, occasionally with running water. But others were not that nice. In the flats an entire family (grandparents, parents, children) might all be crowded into one room, without running water. They had to haul their water in from public facilities. Fire was a very real threat because people were cooking meals in crowded quarters, and many of the flats were made of wood. They didn't have toilets in the flat so they had to use public ones. The upper class Romans (patricians) lived in single family homes, which in Ancient Rome meant the great grandparents, grandparents, parents, and kids of one family lived in a home together. Homes were made, quite often, of brick with red tile roofs, with rooms arranged around a central courtyard. The windows and balconies faced the courtyard, not the street, to keep homes safe from burglars. There were paintings on the walls and beautiful mosaics on the floor. There was very little furniture, and no carpeting. Wealthy Romans might have a house with a front door, bedrooms, an office, a kitchen, a dining room, a garden, a temple, an atrium, a toilet, and a private bath.

Questions regarding mold in home. How many coats of Killz 2? 1/2 the wall or whole wall? A wk ago, I found mold on windows & the wall in my daughter's room. Since then, not only did we find that the humidifier was on 80%, but the fitting on was bad & had started a leak in the basement. We turned it off until we can get a new fitting on it & since then the leak has stopped. We used bleach on windows & walls which removed the mold & returned them to white (no mold stains). Since then, no mold has returned. Last night we took 1 coat of Killz 2 & went 1/2 way up the wall w/ it (to cover the area where mold was found). We haven't noticed mold in the carpet pad, but there's several hard spots next to the wall so to play safe we're removing the carpet today & "mopping" the floor with bleach water. After painting her room, we'll put in new carpet. Questions: 1. Is one coat of Killz 2 enough? 2. (Before we start painting) - is going 1/2 way up the wall ok? 3. Have we done everything to prevent the mold from returning? All info is helpful. I want this fixed. ETA - Should I also check behind the baseboards? Older home - plaster walls.

What criteria are used to appraise the value of a home? I am having an appraisal done on my home and would like to know what criteria are used to determine the value. I have a few things in my home that are not readily apparent, and was wondering if I should mention them to the appraiser, i.e.: sprayed on under roof insulation, foam filled block walls, safe room, low E insulated windows, etc. Thanks in advance, Guy

I have spent a fortune trying to fix my A/C unit because it kept breaking down, other appliances as well. I don't know what to do. Will attending the Occupy Wall St movement ruin your future? Yes, I think it would. Because you'll get arrested and get a criminal record and you'll never be able to get a job or get a visa to visit other countries. My advice is to stay home and don't go to those unAmerican gatherings. I just heard reports of people getting stabbed, and robbed. Women are also being sexually harassed and raped and no one is doing anything about it. Stay home, stay safe. God bless.

Removing interior wall in old house...safe? I want to remove a wall separating my living room from my dining room. I live in a 100 year old home. The wall is on the first floor of a two story with attic. The floor joists run parallel to the wall. How can I tell if the wall is load-bearing?
What is your definition of home? I think a house is where you live, which is a wall-based structure that has the material necessities you need to live. A home is where you feel safe and comfort and security; a retreat that you have trouble leaving, because of the warmth and appreciation. Home is where the heart is -- where love is all you need. In my case, home is New York City. If you're lucky enough to live in the place your heart calls home, consider yourself lucky. It's based on a foundation.
Do you have any money hidden in your home? Would you say I'm doing the right thing by having some of my savings in my home in case of an emergency? is this a good idea? I like to know I have money to hand and I've had a safe built into my bedroom wall and it's hidden behind a picture, got a long password and key entry system also. Thanks.
Would it be safe for me to attach a pullup bar to a brick wall in basement? I was looking at building a home gym and I needed somewhere to do weighted pullups. I was thinking of attaching a bar to a brick wall in my basement. I weigh 84kg and currently do pullups with an extra 20kg, so realistically if I make gains I'd want it to hold 130kg. Is this safe or should I look for another alternative?
What is the average cost and time needed to rewire a 50 year old home with fuses and plaster walls? I have a older brick home @1800 sq. ft. with plaster walls and really old wiring. How do I fit a wall bracket for a boxing bag into an outside external wall? I am looking to buy a small half size 2ft boxing bag for my home. Is it ever safe to live in a home after someone cooked meth inside? I have a friend, who's daughter is getting ready to move into a house where there once was a methlab. Of course, ceiling tiles, wall paneling and flooring have all been replaced, and everything has been cleaned top to bottom. I just wanted to ask some Narcotics officers if they think this house is safe? They have a new baby. They also got the house for a very discounted price.
I need to connect my 4 pin cable dryer in a wall plug that has 3 holes only? I was told to buy an adapter at Home Depot and problem solved. I just would like to confirm this is a safe way to do it. Leaning wall in stick framed house, is this bad? We are looking to buy a certain home, however, one wall (exterior wall) is leaning slightly outward. It's a 1000 sq ft single story house and the leaning wall is one of the longer walls. There was an addition built onto the house from the wall that is leaning so perhaps it is leaning as a result of the addition. Can the wall be straightened out? or is it even worth it? also is it safe to leave it the way it is?

Can I paint my leased home's walls? Hi guys, I recently signed a 12 month lease for a house. I was wondering if I'm able to paint the walls of the house. I'm thinking light contemporary colors, nothing dark. The lease did not prohibit the painting of the walls, nor did it condone it. Am I safe to paint the house, and then paint it back upon moving out? I actually leased through a realtor. But I will be asking them, I don't know what legal recourse they would have in the event that I did paint, since it doesn't state anything on the lease. But I guess better to be safe than sorry.
I live in rented home and have a mould problem do mould/moist sponge pads work to combat or help this problem? Interior wall paint/Cavas paint? Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is safe or okay for me to add and mix some canvas acrylic paint with interior home/wall paint and or primer??? I dont want to paint my entire room with it, i just happen to have bit of primer left from painting my room, and since i wanted to add some stenciling on my walls, i was wondering if it would be okay for me to add some acrylic canvas paint to the interior home primer paint in order to get the color i wanted for the stenciling, instead of having to buy a whole new color which im really running low on the cash =/ I would reallly appreciate it if anyone could give me any bit of advice or opinion on this... Is it safe to build a shower next to a breaker box in your home? We are remodeling our bathroom, and we are going to build a custom tile shower and realized that where we need to make our "wet wall" access panel to the plumbing, right next to it is the back side of our breaker box. Is it safe to hang a swag chandelier on a dry wall ceiling? My chandelier weights 8lb and 10oz and a guy at Home Depot told me it shouldn't be a problem if I use a plastic anchor hook, but I'm still concerned...Please let me know if you have any better solution.
Are lead painted wall safe? Me and my family went to my dad's brother's house for the holiday and stayed there. That house is really old so I think they have lead based paint. Lets say the house is painted with lead based paint. I accidentaly placed all my dad's clothes against the wall (lead based paint wall) when I was searching for my clothes. I put all his clothes in the corner of the wall (not on purpose, just accidentaly) Me and my dad shared the same suitcase. So, when we came home, I washed his clothes and now he's wearing them. I want to know if its safe? If he touches his clothes and put his hands in his mouth is that bad? Beacuse if his hands get wet, he just wipes on his shorts and, without washing, will eat food with his bare hands. Is that safe? Thanks. Also, If I tell him to throw out his clothes, he might get angry at me. ;(
Does anyone know how much a cinder block home would cost per sq ft for materials only? Looks like labor and materials would be around $46 per square foot as of about 5 years ago, but how about if I do it myself? Also, are cinder blocks structurally safe as basement walls? How do you create a vapor barrier to make them last? Thanks for any info!!
How much should it cost to professionally clean a 1200 square foot home? I have home that has been empty for approximately 10 years. It will need to have all walls, cabinets, appliances, fixtures, etc.. cleaned with an eye to Mildew and (possibly) mold removal. I am not speaking of housekeeping, but a thorough cleaning so that it will be safe for a family to move in. It is a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath home in Houston Texas. Any idea how much this should cost me? Thanks.. I'm really poor.
I am moving into a home that uses a propane tank, it needs a new regulator, which regulator do I need? I'm not positive, but I believe the tank is a 120 gallon size tank. It supplies the energy for running my water heater and one large wall heater. I have been looking at regulators and I have no clue as to which one would be the appropriate and the safest type to get for this tank. I'm not sure how much BTU it needs to be able to handle, or PSI, etc. I don't know whether it needs a high pressure regulator (which seems more likely to me) or not. I've done some extensive searching for this information and maybe I'm looking in the wrong places (apparently), but I can't seem to find the information I need anywhere. Any help?

How do I remove burnt plastic fumes from home? Are these fumes dangerous to be breathing? I left some baby pacifiers sterilizing on the stove by mistake and when I came upstairs the house was filled with smoke. The pacifiers had all melted and even the stainless steel pot was partially melted. The smoke is now gone, but there is a terrible smell in our log home. It is cold outside now and not easy to leave the windows open with a baby in the house. Is it safe for us to be breathing in these fumes or are they just embedded in the log walls?

But when I put the new one in, there as a POP! and a flash of light behind the fixture, where it goes into the wall. It is a porch light, mounted on the brick exterior wall of the house. Is it ok to let rabbits chew on wood from home depot or lowes? I have been having trouble keeping my rabbits from chewing at my wall.I was wondering if I lined the bottom with wood such as 2x4's if they could just chew on it and be safe. Does any one know where i can find such wood?
Wall-to-wall carpeting? My family just bought a home with wall-to-wall carpeting, and some of the nails (that presumably hold the carpeting down) are sticking out of the carpet. Now I know the carpeting was steam-cleaned before we moved in, but I don't know whether that would affect anything. So here are my questions: 1. Would the carpet cleaning have affected it at all? 2. Is it safe to just hammer in the nails?
Barnes Varmint Grenade bullets ok for home defense? Opinions please: I went to http://www.barnesbullets.com and selected "new for 2008" and got the blurb for the new Varmint Grenade bullets. A small but important segment of the shooters fraternity is limited currently to both one firearm, a rifle in either .223 or .243 bore, and living in the situation of regular personnel often on the other side of walls. Barnes makes the new V.G. hyper-frangible bullets in those two calibres. At rifle velocity, the powdered core won't exit a coyote very often. The question is, are folks on the other side of "a wall" safe enough from V.G. shots which miss a violent intruder? I think generally yes, probably enough so as to justify their use for home defense. Maybe. What do you think? Regards, Larry. Personally I prefer a 357, with the Glaser Safety Slug. This is for the specified few limited to, say, a Mini 14, at this time, planning to upgrade eventually as finances permit, or whatever. "Attack the question, please, not the question!" New Jersey cops tested Hornady TAP .223 REM as penetrating 4 typical wallboards. Sorry 'bout that Steve. Ty Herring, Cust Serv Dir Barnes Bullets, just emailed me the following: "Hi Larry. The Varmint Grenade could be a good choice for home defense in that it doesn't ricochet and has only limited penetration. This means it won't bounce around the house and harm family. It should also stay inside the intruder. Thanks, Ty. " At least he fully read the question before talking down to me, unlike some.
What do I do to get my son out of my ex-wife's home? My ex-wife has legal custody of our eight-year-old son, even though she isn't fit to be a legal guardian. Whenever he comes over to my house on alternate weekends, he has bruises on his wrist and arms, but tells me he banged into the wall at school. I know for a fact that she is abusing him, because she has anger issues, and refuses to get anger management, and denies the fact that she does have anger issues. What should I do? Should I sue her, or what, because I need my son to be in a safe environment?

this is not a baby safe home? my husband and i are temporarily living with his parents so im not alone while he's in the air force. my in laws have been re doing there house for some time and from what my husband said they just up and quit doing it a few years back. we have a VERY curious 11 month old son who gets into everything. their back wall only has insulation no actual dry wall. my son yesterday manage to get a hold of some of the insulation and ate it. now as a parent how scary is that situation? when my son first learned how to crawl he was 6 months. my in laws don't have carpet floors, or even wood. its just concrete. they want to put wood flooring in but they don't have the money to hire some one to do and my father in law is well old. my husband has offered to do the work since he knows how but they refuse to let him. my son got his first bloody nose at this house because there is concrete. the bath room is just horrid. the tub is sinking, literally. im afraid of just one day while im taking a shower or my son is getting a bath that its going to drop and they even said so them selves. the master bed room is none of my concern since its their room but its just not livable. their room is also concrete. ( my room and my sons are carpet, thank God) they took their shower and jacuzzi tub out because they didn't like so now we all fight over one bathroom. is it wrong of me to complain about this? i know its their home but if a baby is here should it be baby safe? i dint baby proof they house because they said no but i cant sit here and have to worry about my son in what we are supposed to call home for awhile

Could our next door neighbor be listening into conversations within our home? I live in a house, not an apartment, and live next to a neighbor who has a serious snooping problem. I've never known anyone like this to this extreme. It almost appears that this individual has a antisocial personality disorder and had an extreme obsession with knowing other people's business to the point of trying to listen in on peoples conversations. This concerns me and my family. We are wondering... are there any listening devices out there that we need to be aware of that could allow a "next door neighbor" to listen into our private conversations within a our home or through our brick walls? Are we safe within our home as far as privacy goes when having private conversations?
rental home not safe, landlord will not fix...PLEASE help? We are renting a home that is in VERY poor condition. It is a VERY old (1940's) house, and everything in it (electric, plumbing, water softer etc.) are all original. We have complained about things that need repair and nothing has ever been done. We have given 30's days notice, however upon doing a "good" cleaning (getting ready to move out) we have discovered some very very unhealthy, unsafe conditions. I need to know what my rights are, and what I can do. The conditions I am speaking of are: unsafe electric. It is an old system (knob and tube) and he has them all over amp'd (I have just learned this). Are appliances are getting hot, the outlets are sparking, and 4 of them are melted. I called him over a month ago, and he said everything is fine. The actual wires from the appliances even get hot. We have also discovered a large amount of black mold. It is on the same wall as the shower, so I am assuming there is a leak in the water pipe.(It was behind a dresser, so we never saw it. The list goes on. We have given our 30 days notice, however, I DO not feel safe in this home at all. Being that it is starting to get cold, running the furnace scares me because of the added electric it will be using. The electric issues I am speaking of just started happening about 2 months ago, that is why I am so concerned. Does anyone have advice on what we can do? we have not paid the rent for this month yet, and are on a month to month. Is is possible we could put the rent into a sept bank account (so he knows its there) and demand he have the electric looked at by a professional? Or is it possible we could just move out now given the horrible conditions? **Please serious answers only** I have spent hours on line looking for tenants rights but have not been able to find anything pertaining to my situation. I also have a call into a lawyer, however I do not think we would be able to afford one? Again, please serious reply's only. Thank you very much in advance for your help.
How do I make sure the heavy mirror I hang on the wall is safe and won't fall off? Hi everyone.I have this heavy mirror for two years now and I have never hung it up on the wall as it's heavy (about 40 KG) as I live in a rental property. Lately I think I just can bare it any more. I found out that hangtrac home gallery hanging system is convenient and you can use it in a rental property. so I bought one and put 5 wall bodies which each takes an average of 10 kg's weight to fix the trac on the wall. All went well, but I just worry that It might fall off the wall. What clues do you look for to ensure that it's safe? I appreciate your answers! Please only answer if you have some experience.
Follow us home if we leave? I dunno....that sounds a bit off the wall.? One of the posts I've read here stated that if we leave Iraq there will be a radical 'government' established in that country that will train, equip and dispatch commandos to the US and begin a campaign of terror here. I suppose that's a fear, but 'terror' cuts both ways. Any attack or planned attack on the US mainland would result in massive retaliation against all above ground infastructure in Iraq, the killing or capture of what ever 'warlord' decided that he could get away with pulling Uncle Sam's beard. No future administration would be able to 'do nothing' as some of these 'right wingers' suggest would happen. While we could never be 100% 'safe' after a withdrawal, we're not 100% 'safe' now. This needs some real discussion. Best case...worst cast...most likely...least likely. Wadda' 'ya think?
Chimney for wood stove? Which type is better? Through the roof tripple wall stainless steel or outside block? The stove is a Jotul 118 and burns wood like a cigar, one end to the other, because of the air flow design--rated between 25 and 55,000 btu, and 8 hr burn time, i was also concerned about creosote build up. I live in a mobile home and want to be as safe as possible with the chimney type and instalation. Thanks so much for any suggestions you may have !!!
can we fix wooden trellis on top of wall to stop dog jumping over about fifteen years ago, my mother-in-law went on holiday and when she came back home she found her neighbours built a wall dividing her garden from theirs. They put the supports on my mother-in-law's side. My mother-in-law has just recently died and we now have the house. The neighbours keep saying to our children not to sit on the wall in case it falls etc (theyve only built it one thick). They constantly say about the wall could fall, the wall (they say) isn't that safe. We now want to fix wooden trellis on top of the wall (with bolts), to stop our dog escaping from the garden, but my neighbour is now saying that we can't because it's unsafe. Help!!! What do we do?
Debate - Birdshot as a home defense round? I have never said that birdshot is an acceptable round for defense and I cringe when I see people advising against using buckshot for home defense. Please read the following taken from the "Box O' Truth" website and by all means give your opinion! "Birdshot as a Defense Load I have had a lot of questions, summed up as follows: How effective is birdshot (#4, #6, #8, etc.) as a defense load? We have done tests with various birdshot loads. Birdshot penetrated through two pieces of drywall (representing one wall) and was stopped in the paper on the front of the second wall. The problem with birdshot is that it does not penetrate enough to be effective as a defense round. Birdshot is designed to bring down little birds. A policeman told of seeing a guy shot at close range with a load of 12 gauge birdshot, and was not even knocked down. He was still walking around when the EMTs got there. It was an ugly, shallow wound, but did not STOP the guy. And that is what we want... to STOP the bad guy from whatever he is doing. To do this, you must have a load that will reach the vitals of the bad guy. Birdshot will not do this. In fact, tests have shown that even #4 Buckshot lacks the necessary penetration to reach the vital organs. Only 0 Buck, 00 Buck, and 000 Buck penetrate enough to reach the vital organs. Unless you expect to be attacked by little birds, do not use birdshot. Use 00 Buck. It will do the job. But doesn't 00 Buck penetrate too much in interior walls to be a "safe" load in a home? Yes, it does penetrate a lot. But any load that is going to be effective will need to penetrate walls to have enough power to penetrate bad guys. If our only concern was to be sure we didn't penetrate walls, we would use BB guns. However, BB guns will not stop bad guys. Therefore, we must use loads that will STOP bad guys, and this means that they will also penetrate walls. So, be sure you hit the bad guy and do not shoot into walls where loved ones are on the other side."- Old_Painless @ the Box O' Truth Old_Painless is a Life and Patron Member of the National Rifle Association. First time home owner. How do I control mold in an old basement? It's not horrific yet, but there are certain areas on the walls that the mold is growing, and I want to keep my family safe. Any suggestions?
Is it safe to live in a house that has a cracked foundation? If the foundation is cracked in a home, and there are e few cracks in the walls. Is it safe to live there? What causes foundations to crack?? The house is by a bayou, could that be a contributing factor?
Building a Very Tall Bookcase -? How tall can i build and be safe? We have a room in our house that is more of an office/study. It is not a huge room but the ceilings are quite high. I have always thought about a huge book case. Kinda like you see in movies where you need a ladder. (but not a whole wall). How tall can i built my book case without fearing it tip over, or is there a certain ratio where if i build it deep enough it will be okay. ok - dreaming i would have a 15' book case but how tall could i really realistically build it for a home to be safe not being a master finish carpenter?

Buying the house of a smoker - how to get rid of the smell? We are considering purchasing a home where the previous owner smoked. Will changing the carpet and repainting the walls get rid of the smell? What else can we do to make sure the home will be safe and comfortable to live in? Thanks.
Wall-mounted bowl for a betta fish? Humane? Need a bowl for small apartment with cat.? Have you seen those wall-mounted fish bowls? They look like this. I believe most of them hold about 3/4th of a gallon of water. http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/8/892462000595C2.jpg I recently purchased a $1 betta from a dollar store in Chinatown. I definitely was not setting out to buy a fish, but they were stacked on top of each other in plastic bags and I felt like I should give one a more caring home. My new betta, George, is a great fish and he already swims up to greet me and brushes against my fingers when I feed him. Silly as this sounds, I feel a "connection" with him and love him, and I want him to be as happy as possible. Problem is, I have a cat and I want him to be safe! The wall-mounted bowl seems ideal since I live in a smallish apartment and have a cat. But is it big enough? And I know bettas prefer warm water and it wouldn't fit a heater, I think. I want him to be happy, but also safe and not too space-consuming if possible.
I bought A home In May Of this year. I put a contract on the home with a few things that needed to be fixed? There was lots of electrical issues that were supposed to be fixed before the date of settlement. The a/c was also to be replaced which it was. The roof was supposed to be in working condition which we now have leaks. When we went to the attic we found wires laying across the floor and my dyer vent have been routed to go in attic to vent-How Crazy is that? we also had to replace applainces that were supposed to be fine. They were hot wired into the wall in did not work. Is there anything I can do?? or will I just go into bankuptcy tring to kkep my family safe. this home was not sold as-is and I paid Excatly what they wanted for it! PLEASE HELP??? I did have the home inspected. And it would be great if there was a lawyer out there who can tell me if theres anything I can do??
Why do cats like confined spaces so much? Why is it in a perfectly safe and loving home , my cat likes finding the most confined smallest place to stick hisself in? Like under the couch , inside the box spring of our bed , in between the fridge and wall just to name a few.
Do I really risk an electric shock if I open my Subwoofer to remove a foreign object? My kids inserted a fork and a few small plastic balls into the opening of my home theatre subwoofer(a Yamaha YST-SW005). As long as the plug has been disconnected from the wall outlet, is it safe to open the cabinet and attempt to remove them? Thanks for the advice. If I use a screwdriver with a rubber handle, can I discharge or ground the electricity (is that the right term??) as a safety measure?
iPod Nano Charging from a USB Wall Plug? I brought my daughter an iPod Nano 8G about a month ago, but did not buy the Apple wall charger as I know I have some USB Wall Plugs at home for other items that use USB to power, either from the computer or from the mains supply. I was then told that I should buy the iPod one because of the connector on the end. Nearly suckered into it until I was told it charged from the laptop anyway. So here I am, before I plug the USB connector into the wall plug and blow the iPod up, are these safe to use? Specs are AC 100-240V 50/60Hz 3w input DC 5.2V 400mA output Thanks for your advice. Kevin.
Vertical crack in basement wall? I am looking to buy a home it is about 6-8 months old and there are 3-4 vertical cracks in the block that go straight down from top down about 6 blocks. It is a walk out basement and it is close to railroad tracks, I have gotten many explainations and many ideas of why this has happened. My question is do you believe it is a safe home to buy and should I ask builder for a 10 yr warranty on the block? Thank you very much for your help! I found this on askthebuilder.com it sounds like it should be no problem any input? Appearance Hairline cracks around basement windows or in basement walls. Cracks appear not to get larger. Usually occurs weeks or months after foundation is poured. Possible Cause These are likely shrinkage cracks caused by water loss when foundation was curing. Usually not a structural problem unless foundation begins to move. I met with a mason yesterday and he told me not to worry they were just stress fractures any ideas
Venting a dryer into the home. Is it safe if i have no choice? My husband and I bought a Condo 6 months ago. We have a 1 year old dryer that worked fine until we moved here. When we first moved here I had to restart my clothes and have them dry a second time, towels 3 times!!! We live on the lower level and apparently the flex duct goes up the wall 2 stories and out of the roof. The association had someone come out and blow any lint out but it hasn't helped. (well i thought it did but then a month later realized with all the moisture and lint that it wasn't connected all the way. I assume the only way to solve this problem is to tear out the wall and check the ducts....but i am not sure if they will do that. Is there a safe way to just vent it into the home? What if i run a dehumidifier as it dries, to catch the humidity?? My Dryer is electicby the way, and i have 2 small children in the home. Any impute would be great...this has been a thorn in my side since we have moved here. :-/ Oh, another thing is its in a laundry room in center of my condo....no windows. Its also in the room with my furnace and hot water heater if that makes a difference.
What excuse do Conservatives have for not fighting in Iraq? There is no wall around the USA. There is no ban on firearms. There is no limit on traveling to Iraq. If you can pick up a gun, and you support this war, then why have you gone to your local Wal-Mart, bought a couple guns, and why aren't you over there fighting and dying for your own cause right now? Why don't you bring your kids along and let them see what kind of glory that fighting on the American's side will bring them.. posthumously? Could it be that the pro-war, pro-gun conservatives are just a little too chicken and would rather be sitting safe at home while blaming liberals for why George W Bush is so damn incompetent (as if all the support in the world would make him any less incompetent). What exactly is your excuse? You retarded military don't defend anyone. Your role is to attack, suppress and destroy opposing social orders. You only deserve the respect for the role you play, not for the role you think you perform. Get over yourselves, bitches.

Ideal Home Network (Hardware) Setup? I am moving to a new house and I am planning to network all rooms. My plan at this point is to run Cat5e cables from every room to the garage, where I want to combine them in a patch rack. In the same vicinity, I want to place a router/switch to connect all rooms to a single modem. In addition, I would like to connect a dedicated server out there in the future. Here are my questions: - What is the CLEANEST way to accomplish the task. I am trying to avoid the "home-build" look and are planning on going for a (semi-)professional set-up. - Once the cables come out of the wall, should I first feed them into their separate patch cabinet (in-wall? wall mounted?) or should I feed them straight into a small (wall mounted) server rack. - What is the cleanest/safest/easiest way o run the cables through the wall/underneath the floor? Are racetracks the best way to go? - Are there any good web tutorials? - Where is the best place to purchase the equipment?
Is there a safe way to block a heater vent? I have a 3 story home. The bottom two floors are always cool but my bedroom on the top floor is burning up. There is no way to close the heater vent. Is there a safe way to block it, it is up on the wall? It is a gas heater.
Would you keep your teen home from school if...? there were written threats being found in the school? It started about a month ago. Things found on the bathroom wall in the boys room. Then found the same threats on the girls bathroom wall. Yesterday there was a note found. The only info given out is that the threats say 73 kids will die. Handwriting analists determined all the writing was from the same individual. The school went into lockdown yesterday, the kids were dismissed and the school searched. Today the kids were made to enter through 1 door with police and detectives everywhere (kids not searched on entry??). I don't want my daughter to go to school, but how long do you keep them home? You never really know it's safe, but now I am really nervous. We live in a smaller quiet town and you never really think it will happen here...and here we go. I can't hide her out forever, but I can't in good concience send her to school with this going on. I feel paranoid and ridiculous. Thank you everyone for confirming what I believed to be the best action to take. She has 2 1/2 weeks left of school so hopefully they will catch the kid who is doing this. Until then we will take it day by day. She is an honor roll student and will do fine working from home the next few weeks if that is what we need to do. I can't believe this is the way our kids have to live. I can't even imagine living in a school district or town/city where things like this are common. Thank you again. Dee I am sorry I put it under "homeschool" I meant to get it to a parenting /school section. Well she's home...and another "incident" today. We are going to have a meeting but no matter how safe they say things are I am keeping her home. I would say half of the kids are not in school.
Need some home improvement advice.........? My wife and I live in a loft style condo. We began the process of adopting a child and know that a loft style probably isnt the safest thing out there. We are trying to figure out some way to build a wall, or something else, from the ceiling to the railing of the loft, appx 4 ft. Any ideas? We arent the handiest of folks when it comes to home improvement but just want some ideas on what you think might work...... thanks i was thinking of the premade railings, but does that not look like a prison cell :>)
Any tips for safely painting the stairwell of a house? I'm wanting to safely paint just the walls (not the ceiling) of a home stairwell. The stairwell goes up to a landing, then you make a u-turn to a second set of stairs that continues up to the second floor. The ceiling is fairly high and what I'm really concerned about is being able to mask the edges of the ceiling so the painting stops at the top edge of the wall. I've seen suggestions ranging from ladders with boards clamped across them to lifts to scaffolding.....what is safe and practical?
best product to kill ants in your home thats safe around kids? I have a small ant infestation in my kitchen corner. I dont see them any where else. My house is pretty clean in my opinion. They are small black ants and they are very organized. they live in the wall trim and only come out in a straight line to run to a spill or a crumb and back. I go for a week or so without seeing them and the first time I miss a spot cleaning my kitchen I see them run out to get it. What can I use to kill them without worring about my one and 2 year old getting sick?
