Design Flaws: Why don't personal electronic (digital) safes have the battery bay located OUTSIDE? Design Flaws: Why don't personal electronic (digital) safes have the battery bay located OUTSIDE? Have you seen those electronic (digital) safes for personal storage of your valuables? It's a safe with a keypad (number pad) that can unlock when you enter the correct code. A physical metal key also comes with some models, in case you forget your code. HOWEVER, as an owner of one of these safes, I notice that the BATTERY slots are located INSIDE the safe. Not actually a problem, but what happens in the worst scenario when you loose your physical key AND the battery power has been depleted?!?! That means you can't even open the damn thing up to replace the batteries, and you can't enter the correct code because this operation itself requires battery power. An easy solution to this problem is simple: manufacture the battery slots OUTSIDE the safe, somehow integreate it by sinking it on the front side and allow for easy access, much lifting open a petrol tank on your car. Therefore this means you can replace the batteries and not compromise the possiblity that it will be flat, thereby preventing you from typing into the correct numbers. The problem I have is that, yes, the batteries in my safe really do get flat after a few weeks of constantly opening the safe. When it gets flat, I don't even bother replacing it, and prefer to use the conventional key. It seems the traditional way sometimes wins over modern digitized gadgets. [Sigh...] Just fascinated (and frustrated) at how those engineers didn't notice this design flaw - we're only human after all...
Is auto focus LED on a digital camera safe for infants? My sister has just had a baby and I want to take photos of the newborn baby with my Sony Cybershot digital camera. I am not going to use flash because it might be harmful for the little one. But there is also an orange LED for auto-focus, which comes on every time you press the snap button. The LED looks quite bright and powerful, so I wonder if it's safe to use it on newborns, because babies tend to look straight into any bright object they see.
Can electronic safes be easily broken into vs combination/key entry safes? I'm thinking about buying an inexpensive safe to place in the closet to hold some of our more valuable items, but was unsure if I should get a key/combination entry safe or one of those newer digital entry safes. I was also looking at the new biometric safes. Any ideas, opinions, preferences, or experiences with one over the other?

Is it safe to connect a regular TV to a digital cable line? So I want to know if I can just connect it directly to the cable line instead of a box to pick up the analog channels or will the irregular signal mess with the TV. OK..I'll try it..I don't want to get a box for every set and my PC!

Can a digital camera go blind? Everybody knows if you stare at the sun you'll go blind. Can the same thing happen to a digital camera or camcorder? Is it safe (for the camera) to take a picture of the sun or an eclipse or not?
What's the safest way to clean a fingerprint mark on the lens of a digital camera? I've noticed that a "lint free cloth" sometimes causes faint scratches on glass. The special papers sold for cleaning lenses seem somewhat hard for this purpose. "Common wizdom" I heard says "blow on the lens, and with a soft cloth wipe spirally from the center outwards". I did so once on a film camera and effectively rendered it useless as a myriad tiny scrathes appeared on the lens which was smudgy but intact before.
How do I setup my lighting kit to sync with my digital camera? I just bought a strobe and softbox kit, how do I get it to sync with my Canon EOS digital rebel xt? I will be taking photos at a club tomorrow night and will be taking pictures. I will need the continuous light on from the softbox and I tested it this morning - but I am having trouble adjusting my camera settings and the strobe settings. How do I do it? I also purchased a hot shoe safe sync from WEIN that supposedly works with my camera to put on the hot shoe and sync with the PC cord that goes with the strobe. It seems to only work when I use my other external flash though (canon speedlite 430) because that flash triggers the strobes. I dont even know if the WEIN hot shoe sync works.
