Are Sentry Fire Safes Suitable for Guns? I am looking to get a Springfield XDM .40 Compact hand gun and with it I am looking to get a safe. I have also needed a safe for a while. I have been shopping around and am wondering if a 1.2 cu ft fire safe from sentry would be suitable for holding a firearm? I am looking to stay under 250 for the cost. Thank you.

How do I get in my locked Sentry Safe? When I closed it, both of my keys were inside, and I didn't realize that it would lock by itself. The Sentry safe is fire proof and water proof. The key is tubular. The lock is also made to resist expert lock picking and attacking of the lock. I have $300 worth of giftcards in my safe, so I really need to open it. I also left the paper that had all my information like my serial nuber and model number of my safe, so I don't have the proper information to provide to get my keys replaced. What do I do. Would a lock smith be able to open it, or make a new tubular key for it.

Cheap Fire-proof bag/safe alternatives? It feels unsafe to live in apartments in USA where the neighbours might set on fire and left us with burning apartments. Fire-proof safe is kind of expensive and heavy for securing my documents such as Sentry's safe. Fire-proof bank deposit bags are very expensive. I wonder if you have any ideas of alternatives for us to have fire-proof bags/suitcase/safe or create one? That has high volume capacity, light and low cost. for water proof, just put it in sealed plastic bag.

How will I open this safe that I bought from an estate sale? I thought I posted this question but im not sure if I did. I bought this sentry electronic fire safe at an estate sale for $20. It was a great deal as it cost almost $150 at the store. Well the owner passed away and nobody knows the combination they say the sentry papers are in the safe but nobody knows the combo and the family doesn't need the safe and doesnt need what is in it. Can I call sentry safe customer service and explan this to them for them to give me the factory code. If I can do this, then it was worth it, if not I might as well get rid of the safe. Of course I plan to dispose of everything in it, I doubt anything in there is important if the family didnt want it. Anybody have experience with this kind of situation? would the sentry safe customer service help me out, I read that I can give a notorized statement for them to give me the factory code, but I am not the original owner.

Can you store guns in a regular, sentry lock safe that is not made for guns? Regardless of fire protection or the legality of the matter, would a gun somehow be damaged by storing it in a regular safe? Would rust accumulate? Would the gun not work after a while? Would the gun ever randomly fire inside of the safe? I lost the keys to my lock box. How can I break into it? I (stupidly) kept both keys to my lock box on my keyring. Well, I keep my keys on one of those bungee clip things and the section of keys with my lock box key fell off somewhere in town and I lost them. how can i open a safe? so we just moved into this house and there is a sentry fire proof safe bolted to the floor downstairs the only way to get it out is to open it and undo the bolts. we dont know the combination and we need it moved. also i would prefer not destroying it cause it is in geat condition and i dont want to wreck my tools. p.s. it has a keypad if this helps at all

Anyone have good advice or experience with a solid home-security/fire-safe? I always do my research before buying something that isnt cheap, and i really want to give sentry a shot, but testimonials and reviews are showing hit or miss completely and nearly 50% of people dislike them and probably 20% of people take them back immediately!! I would really like an electronic lock(keypad) with an override key, but almost all if not all of sentrys safes have require both to open(i hate the idea of). I would like to be in and out quickly without problems opening or needing a code and a key(to me is stupid). Anyone have a 1.0 Cubic foot safe having a good experience. I am becoming more open to a dial lock with an override key if thats what it takes. I ultimately want a functional safe with an OVERRIDE KEY!!! Is it okay to operate an external hard drive inside a fire safe? Hello everyone. I've devised something I think I am proud of but want to make sure this will be okay. I have a Western Digital MyBook external USB backup drive, 250G. for my piece of mind about fires, thefts, etc, I placed the entire unit inside of a 7x12 office firesafe (Sentry 1100), which is itself bolted to the wall of my office. The lid closes fine over the wires, so the device operates normally from inside of the locked safe. Also, I have an external thermometer so that I can keep an eye on the air temperature inside of the box, and it usually hovers at 80-85F, depending on how hard I actually use the drive. Anyone see any hazards that I'm missing?
