Hi can anyone help me with a law court P.O.C against used car sales? I purchased a second hand 7 seater to replace my overley expensive 2 yr old Galaxy. My wife found a nice 02 Renault Espace in a used car garage. We picked the car up and as soon as we got onto the industrial estate the car started missing. Phoned the garage and they said fuel it up cos it was empty and had probably picked up some muck off the bottom of the tank. I filled the tank and also put some Redex in. Pulled onto the Dual carriage way and the car would not go over 50. Also every time I broke there was a grinding noise from the gearbox and a clank. I phoned the salesman and he said we're shut now, fetch it down in the morning. We did this and on the way down to the garage next morning going around a left bend there was another clank and the car lurched a few feet to the right. I nearly lost it! I got to the garage and the mechanic said there was a coil box gone and 2 gear box mountings broke. This is a car that had just had a full check over the day before according to the salesman. We insisted on our money back and he said the boss would have to phone us . Though he was not in at the moment. I left the car at the garage as I felt it too dangerous to drive-- Train home no car. Now the boss is giving us the run around , not returning calls, and passing messages that he'll get the car fixed. I've checked the sales of goods act and It states that the goods must be fit for purpose. As far as second hand cars go. Private sales only need to be 'As described' but second hand cars from commercial garages must 'Be safe and suitable to get you from A to B' clearly this car is not. I have contacted VOSA and they agree that mounting brackets are most definately a safety issue and that no car leaving a place of commercial sale should have broken gearbox mounting brackets. I've also contacted Trading standards who visited the garage though the boss was no more helpful with them. Trading standards adived me to write a 7 day notice letter to the garage , which I did and was duely ignored, they have now advised me to sue the garage through the courts, I'm doing this online though I'm stuck on the P.O.C (particulars of claim). I've seen products for sale that attach to seat belts, you pull the lever and it takes up the slack of the seat belt and secures the child's car seat to the car. How to convince parents to get me the car i want? Ok, so my dad has been working on cars his whole life. He mostly deals with cosmetic aspects of the car but occasionally deals with some stuff under the hood, so he thinks whatever he says about a car is right. Pre Owned Certified Used Toyota never told was in 2 accidents before purchase? Hello, I purchased a 2008 Toyota Corolla in November of 2008 under the one of those Certified Used Toyota programs. It had a 160 point inspection and the so called Car Fax run on it as well. Ever thing checked out fine as far as I knew. Little did I know the vehicle had been in 2 accidents front and rear previous to me buying it. The Car Fax said nothing and probably still does. I didn't find this out until my wife was in a minor rear end collision 2 months ago. A reputable auto body shop repaired the recent rear end damage only to discover it had been in two prior accidents. They even had an attorney they deal with in situations like this look at it. The attorney did not find any safety related issues so he turned down the case. I'm glad the car is safe but I feel like I've been taken advantage of by this Toyota dealership where I bought the vehicle. They didn't disclose any accident this vehicle had been in even though the body panel sticker (OEM quarter panel, hoods ect. ) were missing locating of all places in the engine compartment. After calling Toyota Corporate I get a call from one of the con artists at the dealer ship (used car sales manager). I spoke to him and he says that Toyota gives them up to 3 body panels that could be damaged. I told him that you didn't disclose this to me and that it lowers the true valueof the vehicle. He said "I'd be wiling to work somethng out out on another used vehicle here on our lot". I declined of course. I asked for a complete 160 point inspection word for word break down and did not receive it. What about resale value? If I brought this to someone else or sold it privately and it was professionly inspected and they found the accidents it had been in I'm going to get low balled. Wheres my compensation for that? The public also needs to understand that just because it says "Certified Used" that it really doesn't mean a thing. The 160 point inspection and Car Fax need to be exposed because I think a lot a people take it for granted and trust when they really shouldn't. He can not afford the vehicle in one payment, therefore I am willing to allow him to make payments to me on the car, rather than financing it through a bank. What is the best and safest way to go about doing this? Since, I am acting as the bank to finance the car, what is the proper method of title transfer to minimize my liability, in the event that he is to default on the loan. Should the title be in my name, should the title be in his name, what type of contract should I have written up? I have the title and I'm almost done paying, but I need to relocate to a different state and wanted to know if it's safe/legal to resell the car I'm paying on before fully paying it off? Need Help on a Used Corporate Fleet Lease 2006 Saturn ION!? We're looking at purchasing a used 2006 Saturn ION. The CarFax report stated it was a Corporate Fleet Lease Vehicle and showed the car was purchased the beginning of 2007 and all 37,000 miles were put on the car within one month. By calculation that's over 1,000 miles a day (maybe a courier service or something)? Is it advisable to purchase a vehicle that has such high mileage in such a short amount of time? It makes me wonder if it was taken care of or had the oil changed as necessary if all the miles were put on the car at once. Private Car Sale Help Needed? My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: PA Hello! I am having an issue with a car i privately sold. I am younger(23) and this is the first car i have ever had in my name and sold by myself. So please excuse my inexperience I sold my 94 Honda Civic with 126,xxx miles on 9/26/08 for $1900. I listed it on craigslist and sold it privately. Before the buyer came to see the car he wanted to "trade me cars for a day" so he can drive is all the way back to Ohio to get his mechanic to inspect it, I did not allow this because i would not be comfortable doing this with a total stranger. The buyer then came to my house with his friend to test drive the car. We discussed the two issues i knew was wrong with the car(tailpipe and front brakes) and he had no problem with them. After the test drive he was extremely please and purchased the car. During this time, I had him sign a bill of sale that i printed off the internet which clearly states "sold as is". He also got a copy. I was contacted on 10/7/08 (almost two weeks later) with an email saying that if i dont buy the car back and also pay for the repairs he had done then I will be hearing from his lawyer. I very professionally explained to him that I have my Bill of Sale and that I can not help him because I have no idea how he treated/used the car during these past two weeks. Nothing was said after this. Well today i received my court date. He claims I fraudulently misrepresented the condition of the vehicle and under the PA Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law I now owe him $3200 dollars for the vehicle and all the repairs. These repairs include transmission(did not give details at what parts of the tranny were wrong),leaking gas tank, distributor, and speedometer head. None of these were wrong when I owned the car. I drove this car daily until the day i sold it. So now he claims that since the speedometer is broken that I scammed him because he will never know the actual mileage. This is my craigslist listing. 1994 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed Manuel 126,xxx miles Clean title. Blue Exterior/Grey Interior with minor wear and tear on both. The 1.5 engine runs very well and the transmission shifts flawlessly. Comes with ice cold A/C, cassette player, cruise control, power windows/mirrors/locks. Everything works as it should. I also had a hitch attached that is included. Brand new starter, rear brakes, alternator and belts within the past year. Tires still have good life left in them. Inspected into next year. Amazing on gas(I have hit 350mi on a tank). It has been my daily driver and extremely dependable. NEVER MODDED in any way. There is a pinhole sized exhaust leak near the muffler and the front brakes will eventually need done but still have some life. Email me if you would like more pictures. Now I believe I am %99 safe in this case due to my bill of sale and the "as-is". There is no way he can prove that I fraudulently sold him this vehicle because I myself did not have these problems. Has anyone heard of or drink vitamin water with any regularity? I bought and tried vitamin water for the first time today. Kroger had a sale and I figured, why not. But after reading the ingredients, I was a bit astonished to find out that it is made with what is known as deionized water, distilled, or water purified by reverse osmosis. Now, I've always had the understanding that one should not drink water purified by the method of reverse osmosis because of the absence of minerals [or basically anything else] and how it could leach minerals out of your body by the opposite process used to "purify" the water. My actual question is, aside from vitamins [mostly B vitamins] being put into this water along with sugar, fruit juices, and preservatives, is it safe to drink this stuff?

What is the best way to charge a Lithium ion battery for maximum battery life? I recently bought a new cell phone with a lithium ion battery. The sales person said I should plug it in every night regardless of how much I use it. My previous cell phone's manual said to occasionally completely discharge the battery before charging. Can I sue the Diagnostic center who gave a clean chit for my used car.? Hi, I purchased a used car after doing a diagnostic check (pre-sale inspection) in a reputed sevice station in bay area. They checked out and told me the car is in very good shape - no issues atall. Now after the purchase i found that this car was invovled in a major crash earlier. Few bodyshop's that i took the car for verification commonly agreed that its not safe to drive the car - because if there is going to be another accident in the same place the structure will cave in pretty badly as the original issue was never fixed properly. The frame is still bent, the allignment of the car is not proper and that if I still have to drive, then I should never put anybody in the back of the car to keep them safe as the accident was in the trunk area. Now can I sue the diagnostic center in small claims court for the damages, since they informed me that the car is in good shape - which was one of the main decision making reasons why i purchased this car.
