i lost my code for my brinks home security safe? i lost my pass code and manuel for my brinks security safe and i was wondering if anyone knew how to reset it? i have my key, but i dont know where to go from here. the safe is about 1.5feet by 1.5 feet with an electric keypad on the front. does anyone know how i could get into this safe? any help would be appreciated thank you!
I just bought a home security safe, is it better to mount it to the wall or the floor? I guess I could put it in a corner and do both...but the instructions say not to do that. I remembered in my grandfathers house his safe was built right into the concrete floor in the basement. When the house was built they poured the concrete for the foundation right around the safe, then bolted the safe into the concrete from the inside. But that's not possible for me...
How Safe Are Wireless Home Security Systems? Are wireless home security systems safe? Info from the Brickhouse Security say "Wireless Home Security Systems are fully wireless and have built-in power supplies; even if the phone, power and Internet connections are down, your Wireless Home Security System will continue to monitor and protect your property. This feature will come in handy if an intruder cuts the power and phone lines, or there is a blackout and burglars are on the prowl." Does this mean that the system has its own cell-phone built-in or uses a satellite so it could notify the PD and if so doesn't a burglar need nothing but a signal disrupter? No I'm not a burglar, just curious in how it works and how safe it really is. We all know if you have an alarm set to the phone-line someone can cut the lines, if you have digital phone someone can just turn the power off your house, or do both. So can a disrupter knock out the system signals? The real question is, "How safe are any Home Security Systems?"
How safe is a home security safe? I was thinking of buying a home safe to put money, stock certificates, jewellery, documents, etc. because my safety deposit box at the bank is just too small and hard to access and I don't store things like money or passports in it because I can't access it when I want to. So is a home safe really that safe? If someone did break into my home and find the safe how long would it take for them to open it? Is there anything I should look for in a safe? What's the least amount I should spend? I don't want to have some kind of fancy Fort Knox grade safe. I just want something were if a burglar broke in, they wouldn't be able to get at anything in the safe before they get caught. I would bolt it to the wall/floor...I just don't know where yet, as it has to be accessible by me too. A waterproof safe is not much of a need, I would probably place it on the second floor of my house, and I live at the top of a hill were it never floods. I noticed theres quite a bit of a price difference between just a security safe and a fire safe, compared to one that has both. Maybe I should buy a security safe and put a cheaper fire proof box inside?
home security? We live in Australia. You arent allowed to keep guns for protection. recently we had in our suburb a home invasion with a machete and sawn off shotgun. they havent caught the people. We have an alarm system but cant use it because of the cats. I get a bit scared sometimes because I feel we don't have enough security if someone came with a gun. We are thinking of installing a sensor light but are there any other suggestions to make your home safer?
Best home security/fire safe? I'm looking for reviews but I am having no luck. Does anyone have any recommendations or sites for good objective safe reviews? I'm looking for something ideally $300 or less but very secure and hopefully at least 1 CU of safe, with the ability to bolt it or something security so it could not be removed. Thank you in advance!
if you can not afford to buy a security / safe box for your home? How can I make my own security box ?? The safe box cost about $1000.00 for my need... I would rather spend much less and and valuables to store more in it... Protection from theft, how about construct a box in my closet with wood, then pour concrete inside to make a wall, then just put top with screw? Then put some books or whatever ??
I have a brinks home security fire resistant safe i lost the combination but have the keys please help!!? I can't get it open and no i did not steal it so don't even suggest that!
Going on a summer trip for a few months. How to keep home safe? I'm visiting family this summer in California but I just purchased a house in Texas. I'm a little apprehensive about leaving my house vacant for that long. I'll be purchasing a home security system but I want to know what else I can do to keep it safe and keep the utility bills down while i'm gone? Advice or a website will be appreciated. Thanks!
Anyone have good advice or experience with a solid home-security/fire-safe? I always do my research before buying something that isnt cheap, and i really want to give sentry a shot, but testimonials and reviews are showing hit or miss completely and nearly 50% of people dislike them and probably 20% of people take them back immediately!! I would really like an electronic lock(keypad) with an override key, but almost all if not all of sentrys safes have require both to open(i hate the idea of). I would like to be in and out quickly without problems opening or needing a code and a key(to me is stupid). Anyone have a 1.0 Cubic foot safe having a good experience. I am becoming more open to a dial lock with an override key if thats what it takes. I ultimately want a functional safe with an OVERRIDE KEY!!! I am willing to spend up to $600 Any advice welcomed Thanks alot
What would be a good way to secure a house from burglary other than home security system and window bars? our home just got broken into. They took small electronics, but we are afraid they might come back. We are putting up bars on the windows, and considering getting an alarm system. What is another way to keep a home safe? Maybe also another more affordable way to keep a home safe? I currently have a small labrador/pittbull mix but she is only 4months old. Still a little puppy.
anybody know what type of home security system is best? i stay out of town for 3 weeks at a time and want my home to be safe. what security system makes a good reliable system for keeping my stuff safe from crooks and thieves??
Help with a security safe!? There's a sentry home security safe in the floor of my dads closet and we want to open it but we don't have any spare cash to buy anything and we already called the sentry place but since its an older model it doesn't have a number or something to identify it with we need some help and please don't just say "in the movies they just put they're ear on it and listen to it click". I would prefer serious answers with links and maybe a video link or something. Thank you.
Is it safe to remove a home security transformer? Our house is an 80's era house and came with security system. In my room there is a wall transformer similar to the ones you find for any other major electronic device, however, it has a screw above it that prevents it from being taken out readily. From what I've been told and what I've seen on several websites, it's a transformer for our alarm system. The system is not currently in use (one of the sensors is broken) but the system itself still has power going to it. I would like to remove the transformer since we don't even use the alarm. Do I need to do anything at the alarm box first or can I just remove it after I take off the screw. I just want to make sure it's safe to just remove.
Do YOU personally feel safer with a home security system? I'm debating getting an alarm system installed. Nothing has happened (thank God) to make me want to get one necessarily, but I've been on the fence about it for awhile. Just thought I'd take a poll.
Trucks from Mexico coming to Chicago on Sept 10, 2007. Home Security or NAFTA? Do you feel safe? http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-trucks_avilasep08,1,3349732,full.story Do you feel safe now that our country is supposedly getting threats about attacks if we don't follow Islam? What will these trucks be hauling and when does crossing the border from another country become a national security issue? NAFTA: Clinton signed it in 1994 / Bush embraces it today. How much for a good home security system? What do I need for a basic home security system. I don't want anything elaborate as I live in a "safe" area. I want something like a remote operated button that my elderly mom can push in an event someone breaks in. A loud alarm that will go off both inside and outside to "scare" any robbers and alert her neighbors.
Are home security systems really effective? We are having a home security system installed tomorrow...I'm wondering if they are really effective? Do they really deter burglars? Should I feel 100% safe when I go to bed with my alarm on?
problem with home security system? We recently moved into a house with an older security system called "safe house"... We do not use it nor is it armed. the security code is set to the manufacturer code. For some unknown reason, the alarm went off today. I was able to put the code in and the alarm turned off, but what could have caused the alarm to go off without reason? it is not armed. We have never used it. i was thinking of somehow turning the power off to the system and was wondering if anyone knew how to do that. I do not want it to go off again without any apparent reason.
How do I make my home safe and protect it against burglars? Today my house got broken into, the came thru the front door, it was locked but they managed to break the lock, it was in broad daylight (3pm) and the burglar alarm went off. The got a lot of cash (for various reasons we had a lot of cash in the house), 4 cameras (I live with other flatmates) and tobacco and alcohol and some other things (but they left all the expensive computers & consoles). They also trashed the place, every drawer in the house was open. What can I do to minimise the chance of it happening again (we already fitted a better lock). Although I would like to spend lots of money on security, I just don't have it, what can I do that's cheap? (£1000 cctv is not an option). What made the burglar decide to pick my house? Why did my house look easy? I've read about "beware of the dog" signs, which i'll definately be buying, but is there anything else I can do? I'll also be buying a safe when i've raised enough money. Any tips or links please? I'm worried they'll come back. Forgot to mention, I can't actually get a real live dog because I'm allergic. And yes I'm in England, still waiting for the police 14 hours after I called them. I'm also female and wondering what kind of self defense I can use in case it happens again.
Home security system without signing a contract? I am looking for a home security system that I dont have to sign a contract, that does not cost too much, and that i can install myself. The reason for this is that in todays economy no ones job is safe and i dont want to enter into a contract that I will have to pay for in order to get out of. Can anyone recommend any company that doesn't require me to sign a contract, and can possible install myself (P.S. I am allergic to dogs so that is not an option)
How can I safely remote access our security cameras at home ? The IT guy says do not use static IP, it's not safe meaning a home computer protected by basic software can easily be hacked. But I wish to have remote access to our cameras. Any suggestions ?
What keeps your home safe? Do you have dead bolts, a home security system, guns, dogs that protect your home, or something else?
Home security? just moved into a apartment in a rough area, need some advice on home security.? As most of us would, I would like to feel safe in my own home, any Tips and advice please?
What is the best internet security to use for home? I usually use Trend Micro but a friend said to download Avast the free home edition. I don't mind paying for security but find it rather confusing with all that is available. What is the best to use? and is the free downloads really safe. Please advise.
Regarding security safes and finger print readers.? I'm looking into buying a home security safe, and have found quite a list of options. I've currently got it narrowed down to 2 choices, one is a $400 safe with electric keypad and key requirements, and the other is a $500 safe with a electric keypad, key, and finger print reader. Please note, I'm *not* actually worried about having someone break into my home and taking the safe, but rather I'm in such a position that I can't trust a member of my household. The safe is reasonably heavy enough that the person could not just pick it up, and walk away. Is the finger print reader actually worth it? In the extreme chance that both the key and number sequence is found, will the finger print reader actually make a difference, or not? Please note, I'm not asking if the actual feature is worth it, but if it will be effective. My laptop has a finger print reader, and it's worth all of a pocket full of lint. Almost anyone can get it to open. I don't know if it's just eye candy on the safe, or an actual effective system.
Would you buy an ugly home in a safe neighborhood, or a fabulous looking, new home in a not-so safe one? Got a choice. The one in the not so safe neighborhood has a lot of security. The ugly one in the safe neighborhood has none.
Home security in the Philippines? I have never seen this topic discussed before, and am wondering why. Most people bring up their experiences with theft and burglaries in PH, then go on to post their warnings and advice on how not to stay safe or theft prevention. None however go on to talk about home security systems however. So... I was wondering shouldnt philippines have a home security company for burglar alarms that alert the company or police when a break in occurs? I should hope they have a few. If so anyone wanna list a few?
i lost my keys to my safe? its a small brinks home security safe and it came with 2 keys i just lost the 2nd one today and i have very important items inside and i need to know if there is somehwere i can go to get it broken open or a new key for it?
How do you keep yourself safe in your home? I have a gun that I keep by my bed, and pepper spray. I lock all the doors and windows, and I lock the door to whatever room I'm in, but I still don't feel safe. I can't afford a security system or a dog. Any other suggestions?

Question about security at home? Ok, i have seen a lot of people talking about us not being safe at home, and are using that as an anchor for why we are at war with Iraq. First of all, the billions of dollars that we have spent in Iraq could have been put towards security and protection here at home, where our biggest defense should be anyway. Second, we are the most advanced country in the world. We can see planes anywhere in the world have a lot of time to monitor certain threats, the only reason 9/11 happened is because the planes were hijacked, which probably wont happen again now that security is so high now. And do you people honestly believe that their will be terrorists running in our streets? I mean come on, there will always be terrorists, but even if we stay in Iraq it wont matter if they are already here. That money could easily go to hunting down terrorists here as well. They strap bombs to themselves to prove thier points, and you cant deal with that in an effective manner. The question is why couldnt anyone seem to see this a long time ago and why nobody wants a timetable to get out of Iraq. I agree we need to stay now (there really is no question), but we need to take effective steps to get out as soon as possible. The question is why couldnt anyone seem to see this a long time ago and why nobody wants a timetable to get out of Iraq. I agree we need to stay now (there really is no question), but we need to take effective steps to get out as soon as possible. And for the people who actually comment on the fact that I say so much and have a problem with it there is an even easier solution. DONT READ IT.
Low tech home security tricks and measures.? I am thinking of leaving the Middle Eastern country, of which I reside, for a period of time and I'm curious as to what security measures I can take to safeguard my home, albeit I have little of value. The Middle East is mostly safe from break ins, but it does happen. Please don't suggest a gun because I wouldn't be around to use it during a period of absence, nor a dog since I would have to have someone take care of it every day for me. But, there are other tricks and measures that I could use. Please give me some tips. Thank you.
What makes you feel safe at home? Say your parents went out and they were coming back the next day or very late, you are left home alone lets say a industrial area where you don't have any nabours or you are far away from any nabours. Ok, I'll admit it I do get scared at sometimes when this happens to me. And come on you gotta admit it to! I rely on my security system when I'm alone lol, what do you rely on when home alone?
Is it safe to pay my bills online with Billpay using my Sprint wireless broadband connection at home? I recently purchased a Sprint wireless broadband Sierra aircard and would like to get rid of my dial-up connection (home phone) and just use this and my cell as my communication. I just need to know how safe it would be to use my Billpay option at my bank to pay bills using this connection. I have always paid my bills using the dial-up connection without any security issues. Please advise... Thanks!
How do I ensure security on my home network? I have 5 different PCs in my house, all connected wirelessly to my SMC router. What are some things I can do to ensure that no one nearby "hijacks" my wireless internet. And keep it relatively safe from hackers on the internet.
How safe is a home wireless network? Without adding the security (anyone nearby can access) and with the added (for example Linksys) security. My friend is reluctant to use a secure network because someone (or a bot) hacked into his computer using his unsecure network.
What types of security have you added to your home, in order to feel safer? If you have not added, what would you like to? I would like an alarm, bars on all my windows and doors a floodlight, cctv back and front. I do not care if i sound crazy but i feel unsafe even though i have nothing to steal! yeah! Nothing to steal, but my personal safety from some nutcase, i have to worry about! All criminals at the 3rd offence should be shot I want that sign! lol
Is this security combination good enough to keep me safe? I am a windows 7 user and i have 3gb Ram anyways here is my combination of free security: Anti-Virus:Avast! Home edition Anti-Spyware:SpyBot S&D However i want to get anti-malware and a firewall (should i get a firewall for windows 7 ??? and what's a good anti-malware ??) Thanks!
Home security system- Who do you recommend? Our neighborhood in Kansas City, MO is normally a safe neighborhood, but some reason burglaries have been on a peak these past two months, with 4 of my close neighbors being robbed, and one of them I witnessed. I need to get a Security system, but places like ADT and Brinks require 3 years contracts, which in the end turn into ALOT of money! Is there any local sercurity company that you recommend, or have had experiences with?? Which company have you found to be the most affordable. Thanks-
does anyone know who the patron saint of safety and security is. who do you pray to to keep youself safe? is there a feng shui way of keeping one safe in ones home? and who is the saint that you pray to for safety and protection against injury or danger?i don't know much about angels but maybe there is a way of them helping too? any Information would be nice thank you.
What kind of hand gun would recommend for for home defense? My only experience with a weapon is the M16 when I was in the National Guard. Believe it or not, I don't have much experience with hand guns. The contract for my home security service is about to expire and I would feel safer if I had a weapon for protection. I would like a hand gun that's safe and easy to use. The most I would pay is $500. Any recommendations and what should I expect to pay.
can you get grants to help put security on our home like you are able to with other grants for eg roof windows i live in an area where crime is high i would like to make my home safe to live in and would like to secure it are there any goverment grants to help me do this as iam unable afford the cost of doing so myself (oap) and iam worried about my safety
Anybody have recommendation for an affordable wireless router for home user with decent security features? I read that WEP is not safe, as well as WPA-PSK. It's costly to have WPA or WPA2 with RADIUS server for home user. VPN would be a good idea, but VPN client software is expensive for Netgear wireless router (the only affordable wireless router with VPN). So, I don't know what the decent options are for my under $100 budget. All I have in mind is something with: - Dual active Firewall (NAT and SPI). - Intrusion Detection (IDS). - WPA and WPA2 (PSK type, I guess). - Ability to disable SSID broadcast and DHCP server. - Logging feature of clients that request connection. - Access policy control (support VLAN). If it's possible I still want the VPN, but I'm just daydreaming probably. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Do you recommend installing ADT Home Security ? I am looking to buy the Basic Home ADT security package, Should i feel much, much, much safer with the service? Or just much, much safer, or just feel safe. I am concerned with breaking/entering my home. (two-way voice communication keyboard, motion detector.etc) i am concerned with breakin/entering my home when i am not home.... Not so much with fire, smoke alarms or home invasions. mike,others...i am all set if someone breaks in when i am at home (one kill during desert storm hand to hand combat).....i am concerned with ;how good adt is " when i am not home.
Home security... what can i do myself/? To start out let me say, i'm very technically inclined. I just moved into a new house in a nice neighborhood. Well i thought it was a good one till all the neighbors came over to tell me that my direct neighbor likes to and makes it a habit to break into everyone's home. No one had caught him but everyone knows its him (how im not sure). We are all freaked out about it now, I feel like walking up to him and beating the crap out of him even tho he has not done anything illegal. He has taken our peace of mind. We don't feel safe leaving the house alone. He is not a home invasion type from what it sounds, its all been when everyone was at work. I need someone to help me with some kind of DIY home security. All of my windows and doors have decent locks. Windows have 3 locks each for example. I would like to avoid running a ton of wires tho. Anyone ever do a DIY security system? or have any insight on that i should do?
Home security emergency? Hi, so my mom did something really stupid today without thinking. Some weird guy went door to door and was asking people about their security systems and home security. but the way he acted was very suspicious, and my mom told him some dangerous stuff. Whats a way to keep us safe tonight. We have a sliding glass door, windows, and regular doors. please help, we are very worried

Looking for a good site to go to - to be informed on the best depository or money TL rated safes to buy must have a large selection of Safes of MFGs and styles to choose from. They need to be able to professionally deliver and install the safe and be able to answer all of my safe questions. I also need commercial locks for my business, panic hardware, alarm locks and mortise locks, and maybe new security locks and a gun, floor, fire or wall safe for my home. Are SKY LIGHTS in homes safe? Can they be reinforced for added security? DO NOT ASK ME IF I KNOW THIS ISN'T THE HOME SECTION...i do know that, its just that me gets no love elsewhere...i rather ask family!!!!!!
What's the average price for a home security system? What brand do you like? (info provided)? Hello, My husband and I are looking at buying our first home. Our town is actually somewhat segregated (financially, not racially). There's the A section of town, with all the reeeeeally expensive houses. The B section of town, with more "family" homes that are <20 yrs old. The C section of town, where there are family homes, but they're all from the 1950's- 1970's. And then the D part of town which is pretty ghetto and dangerous. All of the houses in our price range are in the C part of town (1950's- 70's homes). Most of the have been/are being remodeled to make the neighborhoods more appealing to new buyers. But some of these houses are kind of close to downtown, which scares me to death. I know someone could break into any house, anywhere, but we're currently renting an apartment in the nicer part of town and I "feel" really safe there. All of the houses we've been looking at buying are 900- 1,100 sq ft. I know it's tiny, but it's our first house, so it's not supposed to be a mansion. We don't need a system that will dial 911 for us or anything like that. But it would be nice to have a loud siren in the case of a perimeter breech. We can call 911 on our own.... =) Given that information, which home security system would be the best? Thanks!
Dual Irish/American Citizen Has Questions About Jobs and Safe Home Program? Hi. I am a dual Irish/American citizen. I have yet to get a passport, but my mother was born and grew up in Ireland so I don't foresee a problem. Are there more people like me out there who have relocated to Ireland or another EU country? What was your experience like in terms of employment? Were most employers ok with you having grown up in America and now want to work in Europe? Basically what was your experience like in terms of the actual move and job search? I am finishing my master's degree right now in the states. Both of my college degrees are cum laude, does that matter to Irish employers? Has anyone had a family member involved in the Safe Home program? My mother who left Ireland would like to go back and is 64 years of age. She is on a fixed income. Does anyone know what type of benefits transfer to Ireland-soc security, VA pension? What kind of benefits she would be eligible for from the Irish gov?Any other information on this program would be appreciated. wow yahoo...wasn't trying to sneak in sexual inuendo. there is such a thing as the honors system! cumlaude is not perverse! LOL
How do I make my wife feel safe in our home? My wife and I live in a very safe suburban neighborhood and have a security system installed that is linked to ADT. Even with all this, my wife will occasionally hear a noise (when home alone) and call me at work and expect me to drive home and inspect the house for intruders. It has gotten to the point where she CANNOT sleep if she hears a noise at night and I am not home. If any door lock is unlocked and she does not specifically remember unlocking it, she assumes the worst; that someone is in the house and is intending to harm her. She tells me that's just the way it is, but I want her to be able to feel safe in our home with the doors locked and the security system armed. I hear this is a common problem for women but have not been able to find any books on the subject or anything online. Does anyone else see my wife's point of view? Has anyone had this irrational fear before and gotten over it? Please let me know. I thought the security system would make her feel safer, but it seems she doesn't trust it much either...
If I'm running Avast Home Edition and on other firewall, is my XP box relatively safe on the internet? I have Avast On-Access Scanner and also Spybot running. Do I need some other firewall or will this provide good enough security for me to general surfing chatting internet work? Thanks for you responses.

Looking for an alarm monitoring company in CT? Well im looking to secure my home with an alarm system. So far I know of the following companies in Connecticut: -ADT -Brinks -protection one -Safe Home Security (SHS) If there are any other companies that you would recommend post em, and please suggest a company that meets my specs. I have a work laptop and im at home, im trying to connect to my wireless network....? it has a password, i know the password but is it safe to connect. Once it goes back to work will it have the connections? Im trying to prove a point. or basically does that laptop have any connection to a computer here at home. for security reasons?
Personal safes for the home - which do you prefer? I'm looking to purchase a small personal security safe for my home. I'd like to spend $80.00 or less, but I am willing to go as high as $100.00 (we young adults are on strict budgets. lol). I would like something small, basically just large enough to hold an envelope of money, my passport, and some jewelry. Fire-proof is important as well. I'd prefer one with a combination or digital lock. - Which brand of safe do you recommend? - Do you prefer a desk drawer safe, or a small one that can be tucked away elsewhere? - What other key things do I need to be looking for before I make my purchase? [[ I've posted this question elsewhere, my apologies, but I'm finding it hard to recieve any answers! Thanks for any input you may provide!]]
ADT home security issues..help me please!? Ok, so Im a nanny for a family that has ADT. However, they never use the alarm unless they are out of town. I've never seen it on and don't even know the code. But today, I heard it beeping so I called the mom at work but she didn't know the pass code either. But then the cleaning lady opened the door and the alarm went off. The cops came and it turned into a big mess. I got the alarm off but it still says everything is armed. I am scared to open the doors in fear that the alarm will go off again. Ive called tech support and they were unable to help me. Does anyone know a different way to get it to disarm without the code? I know it's a dumb questions cause it would't be safe but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Why don't I feel safe in my own home? I constantly have a feeling of not being safe. But I can't figure out why im having these feelings. There is no one who is "out to get me" and the neighborhood I live in has little crime, actually I don't remember the last time there was a crime in my town. But I still fear that im not safe. I have a security system installed that cost's me too much a month, I have extra locks on all my doors that come into the house inculding bolts (the mini hotel style ones). At night I lock all the windows and I do a search of the basement. My husband thinks it's all silly, but it really does bother me. Im worried every night that some person will come into my house and hurt me and my husband. Maybe im parinoid? Maybe I watch too much news? My husband thinks the whole thing is silly, but it really bothers me. Why am I like this?
do you think we should be able to bear arms for our own security and safety i would feel safer in my home? as i have no confidence in the british police force. i have to say that if that was possible, i would have to meet certain criteria ie no criminal record and i would be obliged to register any fire arms i own with the police and have a secure armoury for them surely i have a basic right to protect my family
Ralph Lauren Outlet - Security Tag Left on, is it safe to try and remove and how? Ok, so we went away for the weekend and stopped in at a designer outlet on the way home. We spent over £100 in Ralph Lauren and when we got home they had left a security tag on two of the items. I thought it might be ok to try and get it off but I am scared to attempt to remove incase I rip or ruin the items. I live over 100 miles away from this store so taking it back is not an option. I have just called the store and they were rather unhelpful, no appology and I was told to drop in next time I pass, I will not be passing for a year or more! Either that or I can post it to them at my own cost ofcourse and they will take it off and return the items. I thought they may have arranged a courier so no cost and hassle for me but no, they weren't bothered. I said I'd think about it but I'm so furious they want me to pay to post it back when it's their fault. For the sake of £10 or so I will probably send it back but it's not about the money it's the principle of it. Why should I be out of pocket for their mistake. I asked if any other stores have the same security system, she said probably not, she didn't know. Couldn't even tell me if the nearest Ralph Lauren store could take it off for me as the outlet is run by a different company. The tag is round plastic at the back with a little steel thing that it goes into. Any safe ideas on how to get it off that will not tear it or ruin the actual security tag incase I still need to send it back?
How can I stay safe in my home? I am a young woman living on my own, it’s not the roughest area around but it isn’t a nice area either. I live in a 2nd floor (top floor) flat, the neighbours in my block are nice, there is a shared entrance way with a security door and I bolt my front door. I have a room that used to be a balcony that’s now closed off with doors that open round the back, these are kept shut and the door between this room and the main flat are kept locked at night… I still don’t feel safe when I’m alone; I stay awake some nights listening for the slightest sound. I can’t afford a security system, so what is my best way of trying to keep myself safe when I’m home alone? Everyone seems to be saying dog... dogs aren't allowed in a flat with a shared entranceway, plus I’m scared of most dogs anyway…I doubt a chiwawa would scare anyone off :o)

Would you agree with a more Liberal approach to terrorism? In other words, pull US troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, get out of the Middle East completely. And instead of attack attack attack, focus all the money on safer security measures at home. In other words, fight terrorists here instead of there. In other words, go on defensive instead. If Obama or Clinton proposed this idea, would you consider voting for them?
How Do I Protect My Home ? [Serious Question]? I Have Just Moved Into A New Neighborhood And For The Past Two Months, Someone Has Been Vandalizing Our Home. I Put In New Sod In The Front Lawn, And Every Now And Then, I would find a couple pieces flipped over or just relocated in the middle of my driveway. Also, My Dad's Car Was Tampered With And Everything Inside The Car Was Thrown Out. So Far, We Have Filed Two Police Reports But It Hasnt Helped In Anyway. Some Nights, My Dad And I Would Take Turns Keeping Watch. We Have Some Suspicious People On The Block Who We Think Did It But We Dont Have Evidents. At Night, My Dad Fears That Someone Will Break In And Rob Us. We Have Considered Brinks Security System [Since The Old Owner Had It Installed] And Security Camera's But The Price Is Out Of Question. Because Most Of Them Time, There Are Children At Home, Safety Is A Big Concern But It Has To Fit Our Budget. Are There Any Low Cost Ways To Protect Your Home From Intruders So You Can Leave The House Knowing Your Family Is Safe At Home.

Is there a way to disable the numerous useless security settings in Microsoft Windows Vista? I'm having problems with many of the security systems in Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. It refuses to let me open files that I know are safe because it thinks they could be potentially harmful. I just need to know if there is anyway to change the security measures.
Do I have enough computer security on my PC? How about some free security programs? I have a laptop using Windows XP2 which I use regularly at random networks from a fraternity house, in college classes, to my home. Needless to say, I am not sure how secure the networks are: These programs run at system start up: Total Security: Paid Norton Security Center AntiVirus: Free AVG AntiVirus Firewall: Free Zonelabs Zone Alarm These programs run once a week: AntiSpyware: Windows Defender Beta, LavaSoft AdAware, and Spybot Search & Destroy I run Limewire for P2P now and then. I browse the internet with FireFox. I update regularly for windows, firefox and all of my security. I also game regularly online. My question is: does this sound safe? What else can I do? I dont want too many intrusive programs taking up tons of RAM, but I would like to be secure, as this new laptop is my only computer. Are there any free programs out there for college kids that are good for protection? Or do I have enough stuff running to protect me? Thanks all.
If I install Apache on my PC, will this punch a security a hole? I want to know if it's safe to install an Apache server on my PC. Is it safe? Can it be installed on home PC's just for testing and experimentation purposes? Does it create a hole in your security measures? How safe is it?
flying home for thanksgiving... what are security guidelines? I am flying home for Thanksgiving and I need to know a couple of things about luggage and security guidelines. First, can I take bottles/fluids (mouthwash, shampoo, etc) that are regular size if I put them in a bag in my checked luggage? Second, can I take knitting needles (size 10, if it matters) in my carryon so that I can knit during the flight? Finally, I got my father a CD, and I want to put it in the checked luggage (between my clothes and my towels for padding/safe travel). Would the x-rays for the luggage mess the CD up?
