What is the best home safe? What is the best home safe? I prefer only a locksmith to answer. I've been reading many bad reviews about sentry.
Best home security/fire safe? I'm looking for reviews but I am having no luck. Does anyone have any recommendations or sites for good objective safe reviews? I'm looking for something ideally $300 or less but very secure and hopefully at least 1 CU of safe, with the ability to bolt it or something security so it could not be removed. Thank you in advance!
Teeth Whitening at home- is it safe? Has anyone had any experience with at home teeth whitening kits? I have been thinking about using one of the at home teeth whitening kits advertised. Most of the website etc say that they contain the same formula that the dentists use but there are also bad reviews saying that they leave your teeth more susceptible to staining because it affects the enamel on your teeth. Has anyone had an experience with the DIY kits or can recommend a particular brand?
What is the best brand for home safes(strongboxes) ? i cant find any reliable reviews about safes, the only brand i know is sentry and i would like to know the best burglary, fire and water proof safe.
Is this home in a safe neighborhood? My family and I will be visiting New Orleans in a couple of weeks, and we are looking into a vacation rental on 2703 Baronne St. My cousin from Thibodaux checked out the place and reported the neighborhood is sketchy; however, previous guests gives the place excellent review. Can anyone tell me if this neighborhood is safe?

Is Life Tree Home Soap safe? I normally use method all purpose, but I found a bottle of life tree home soap while cleaning out my mom's house. I was going to toss it, but it says it's eco friendly, so I decided to hang on to it and look it up online. The few reviews I've found looked promising, but I just want to make sure. Is it safe? Gun Safe Reviews and opinions? Have some questions about buying a gun safe. The safes can be quite expensive but so are my guns and I have some concerns. Wondering if anyone out there has ever had a safe go through a fire and did it hold up. Also looking for a good brand. I display some of my rifles in my home and only need a small gun safe to protect against fire. I need some direction and would like the opinion of some who have had experience with fire proof gun safes Thanks
Is trading using Alibaba or Aliexpress safe? I have read few reviews mentioning it is not safe. Somehow, Alibaba and Aliexpress have "Gold Suppliers" "Audited Firms" and "Esrow" service, but still I have doubts. I am setting up a small home business, and worry about being scammed as have been through it twice via online shops. Anyone can guarantee from which market to buy apparels from, is safe?
In need of a safe, clean, quiet rental in Ft Lauderdale area FL??? 10 points to most helpful? We are planning on moving in July and every apartment complex we look at online has horrible reviews. We want an apartment or home for less than 1100 a month. It has to allow small dogs, and it has to be in a safe quiet area. Plantation and Davie is preference or somewhere close. Please help. Thanks
Anyone have good advice or experience with a solid home-security/fire-safe? I always do my research before buying something that isnt cheap, and i really want to give sentry a shot, but testimonials and reviews are showing hit or miss completely and nearly 50% of people dislike them and probably 20% of people take them back immediately!! I would really like an electronic lock(keypad) with an override key, but almost all if not all of sentrys safes have require both to open(i hate the idea of). I would like to be in and out quickly without problems opening or needing a code and a key(to me is stupid). Anyone have a 1.0 Cubic foot safe having a good experience. I am becoming more open to a dial lock with an override key if thats what it takes. I ultimately want a functional safe with an OVERRIDE KEY!!! I am willing to spend up to $600 Any advice welcomed Thanks alot
Are Cashcrate and Squishycash safe to use? I'm a teenager over 13 and was looking around the internet, and I really want to make some extra money. I found these two sites and they seem pretty good with reviews and all, but I'm still afraid to put things like my home address on them. Are they safe to use? And please say if you used them and your experiences with them. Thanks!
What is the safest car seat? Is there a safe one that's not extremely expensive? I search the stores and then go home to read the reviews online and I'm having bad luck finding one. Help!
Is it safe to buy electronics from Amazon? I want to buy a printer on amazon. It is a cannon multi-use printer which is perfect for printing documents, pictures and even scanning images. This would be perfect for my home business. Something like this usually runs about $70-$100 brand new but on amazon, they sell new printers like this for only $35. The printer got 4 out of 5 stars but the reviews are mainly for the printer itself, not the sale through amazon. So I must ask, is it really safe to buy this on amazon for that low of a price? The item is brand new.
How to lighten dark hair without coloring or bleaching it (safe&easy at home)? First of all, I use permanent hair die (very light blonde, I get the same color, no mater the warm/cold shades of the color creme), such as Garnier Naturals, to lighten my roots periodically. However, since I generally get the same result, no matter the color I choose (as long as it's light enough), given the fact that my natural hair color is a dark brown with red tints that practically gets lightened by the hair die formula added to the coloring creme to a gingery medium blonde/light brown, I am looking for some other ways to lighten my hair without using color creme and as lesser chemicals and peroxide as possible, no more strong smells etc. My hair is close to black at the roots, so things like lemon juice, chamomile, vinegar etc. or products like SunIn have little to zero effects of lighting My hair is also brittle, dry, frizzy at the tips, so I only lighten my hair at the roots, no further touch-up's needed. I DO NOT want to completely change the color of my hair (make it platinum blonde/sandy light blonde etc.) NOR do I want to pore peroxide on my head/scalp. I want to lighten my natural color as much as possible in one application every 3-4 weeks or after every shampooing, without going to a saloon and without long term effects on the scalp, roots, my lungs etc. So, if you tried any products that could do that and are sold over the counter, in supermarkets, please share some reviews, tips, recommendations on how to easily and safely use them at home. Thanks!

what is uTorrent and is it safe to use on my computer? I had a guest in my home who came to try and help me distinguish whether or not my computer had a virus. I have AVG already but he ended up putting Avast, Panda and eventually AVG 2012 on my computer. After he left I reviewed his activity and found that he also added uTorrent 3.1. I need help.

We are looking to move to Hartford to be closer to home and miss the city life. I get mixed reviews from folks that I meet from CT. What part(s) of Hartford is/are considered nice places to live?
My friends wants to buy my home. Can we simply close at a title company or get an Attorney? what's the easiest and safest way to go about it. I know the title company provides title insurance but do we need an Attorney to review the contract and help close the loan. Or with the title company alone be sufficient.

Should I allow bands to send music to my home address? I am staring a local newsletter for local bands and poets and I want them to be able to send their music and poetry to me so I can review it, but do you think it's safe for them to send it directly to my house? If not, where else could they send it?
Are teeth whitening products from stores like Dentcare (UK) safe? Hi, I have recently spoken to a dentist about teeth whitening and he recommended Carbamide Peroxide. He recommended I have a mould cast to my mouth professionally to ensure there's no leakage. After looking around on the internet and reading some reviews I came across a product sold by a company called DentStore (http://www.dentstore.co.uk/laser.html) containing 35% of the active agent and including what appears like all the necessary products to do the job well at home. My questions is, is this a safe product and would any dentists recommend this? Many thanks! Please note: This is a UK company.
Any African American women used ColorFix Color Remover to remove black dye from previously relaxed hair? I have semi-perm black dye in my hair. My natural hair color is medium-sandy brown. my roots have grown out about 2 inches brown but the rest of my hair is still black. I've tried many At Home procedures, to no avail. I saw a review for COLORFIX Color Remover on Sally's beauty web site. All reviews said hair was not damaged, but my hair is relaxed on the ends. Is it safe to use?
Is it safe to plug an air conditioner to my surge protector? I have a cyberpower 1030HT, which has a 6000 joule rating. http://reviews.cnet.com/power-equipment/cyberpower-10-outlet-home/4507-3055_7-31746650.html?tag=mncol;rnav (specs) I am planning on buying a 10,000 BTU AC unit. I have a 40 inch samsung LED TV, cable box, Wii, Xbox and blue ray player hooked up to it right now. I want to protect the unit from any voltage spikes due to brown outs, since its common in the summer when grids are at their peek use. Would it be safe to do?
Are highlights safe for my hair type? My mom is half puertorican and black and my father is half white and black. Because my mom braids my hair every other day since I was 2 (with grease and water), I have a wavy texture. By no means, is this as soft and managble as the authentic puertoricans hair. If i comb my hair out, It will become blown out but it doesn't not stand on my head like an afro. I have put JustForMe texturizers in my hair before but that has grown out. And I also straighten my hair, every other week, because I like variety. One week, my hair is wavy, the next week straight. Anyways, when I was straightening my hair I noticed I had brown highlights (my hair is deep brown, so it looks black), I loved the highlights and I want to take them a step up. I was thinking of trying to highlight myself at home, with hydrogen peroxide, but after I read the reviews I decided I didn't want ORANGE hair. I want to get a highlight kit from Sally's like a normal 5.99 one. I need to know if highlights are safe for my hair type? I've never gotten my hair relaxed or anything. And also, if it is safe for my type, what color should I put in my hair?
Reviews on the birth control pill, YAZ? I just got home from the gynecologist and we were discussing different methods of birth control. He suggested that I take YAZ and I was just wondering if I really should or not. I was reading some of the reviews online and it hasn't helped much. Some people [mainly with PDMM] actually had great results with the pill and no complications, others became very ill and some even had ovarian cysts grow. =/ I'm sixteen turning seventeen and I just want to be safe :] My period lasts for only 3 days - 4 tops and can sometimes become very painful which is why my doctor suggested that I go on birth control. Thank you for your feedback :] Much appreciated.
Is Guatemala safe for a 14 yr old girl & her grandparents? My 14 year old daughter has been invited to go on a two week vacation with her grandparents (my in-laws) over the upcoming Christmas school break. This will be there first trip, and they are not using a tourist agency, they are planning the trip themselves. I have heard mixed reviews on the safety of Guatemala, but most of the answers I am finding are from years ago. Does anyone know what it is like NOW In 2011? I would love my daughter to get out there and see the world, but I am terrified. I originally planned to go with them, but her grandparents have asked that I stay home so that they have room for my mother-in-law's mother to go with them (she is from Guatemala). I don't want to let her go unless I hear enough people tell me its a safe place for tourists.
Is Roblox safe for my 10 year old brother? Well, just today my brother came back home saying that he wants to go on this site called 'roblox' because his mates were on it. He is about 10 by the way. I'm 15-16 I checked out this site and other reviews of it but I found some things wrong with it. Do you think this site is suitable for his age? Because I don't want him to be influenced into bad language and other stuff like that. If I said to my parents this site wasn't safe, what sites would be ok for him to go on. I just want a site which won't give viruses, or will have dingy pedo's around lurking in the forums. Bearing in mind I do know that sites now have forums. As I am a member of quite a lot of sites now, I know how this all works, but I just want to know what people think about this site from personal experience. What sites would he find cool? That also his friends could go on. (I think he kinda wants to be like me though) please help! x
Recommend a DECENT fax machine for home office? so right now for my home office fax machine, mostly used for outgoing to my parents home work office, and some things to customers as well, not high volume faxing, right now i have this piece of junk HP fax 1010. It has never worked right, always seems to have Send Errors, Jammed Document problems, starts to send and then stops, has this weird ring sometimes when im trying to send a fax. it needs to go, it needs to fly out some 2 story window and smash to the ground (ok to be environmentally safe it will be recycled upon replacement) Suggestions PLEASE on a decent, nice working, compact fax machine that I can get for say less than $180. It doesn't need to do a ton, mostly fax, i've got a scanner/printer combo, i know most faxes are combos, so if you want to recommend one that has other features thats fine, but reading reviews on Amazon, Tigerdirect, New Egg, would like some good words on someone who has one they like. Thanks SO much !! also does faxing a document over a phone line that is VOIP have more of a chance to mess up the fax transmission ?
How to convince my parents that shopping online with a debit card is safe? well, basically there is a shirt that is only sold online that i need. recently someone stole my parents debit card information and stole $5,000. of course they canceled that debit card and got a new one. before i asked them for the shirt, i check the websites private policy and i checked if it had https and basically i did alot of research and read alot of reviews, but unfortunately to my parents this is not enough (btw the website is called http://www.districtlines.com/home). I really need this shirt by the end of the month and my parents don't care to the point they locked me up in a room and called me a demon child, anyways is there any other way i could convince them or i could buy this shirt? i was also considering pay pal but basically my parents don't want that stolen $5,000 to occur again (since it was the first time if ever happened to them) . I'm sure it's going to happen and supposibly this man who works at the bank and helped solve everything out and gave them some list explaining all the websites they could use which i totally think is a stupid lie. i'm sure this website is 100% safe. Help me please, I have absolutely no persuasive attitude.
22 weeks and want to fly to Romania in late July. I will be around 7 months when we go. . Is this safe or OK? I have had mixed reviews about this topic. After doing research online, I am more confused than ever. I will be talking to my OB/GYN about it later this evening but until then I am still searching for answers. So my husband is Romanian and hasn't been home in over four years. We want to go for his brother's wedding which is July 30th. We would leave around the 25th and come back around August 15th. I am currently about 22 weeks along. So far I have had a healthy pregnancy with no cause for concern. I just want a straight answer as whether or not it is ok or not which I have not been able to find. I know there are "risks", there are risks in driving a car...I just want to know whether It is too risky or not. I will be 7 months August 3rd and I have read that it is not safe to travel around then? If I did go to Romania it would be about a 14 hour flight. I have read that as long as you get up every hour or so and drink lots of water and I should be fine. I have ALSO read of women having bleeding/spotting from the cabin pressure's in the planes. I am leaning towards NOT going but I just wanna make sure. Thanks for your help!
The Silk'n SensEpil Home Hair Removal? I would like to know, is it safe to use ? how does it work ? where can I find review on it ? Is it better then other at home hair removal products thanks.
Is it safe to bring my bong from the UK to the USA through carry on? Recently purchased a bong of approximately 11 inches in London and it would mean the world to me if i could take it back home to California. It's completely clean, implying i have yet to smoke from it and it can either go into my carry on or luggage, i have plenty of room i just need to know which is safest. I've bounced around the internet for a few weeks now looking for an answer to my question and I've only found mixed reviews. So finally i decided to ask for myself, has anybody else tried to transport a bong from the UK to the USA? I'd greatly appreciate some feedback :)
Is the Dodge Avenger reliable and safe? I'll be getting my license soon, and the only car at home is a 2008 Dodge Avenger. Reviews discuss the cheap interior, and I couldn't agree more with them. It's the very base model, with the 2.4l 4-cyl engine. It seems to be a good running vehicle engine wise, and the only issue I have is the poor quality interior. The materials are very bad. Does poor interior quality = poor safety? The car has about 85,000 miles on it. I'd like to hear from people who know about this car....people who have it, have HAD it, driven it, been in an accident with it, etc. Thanks! :-)
Affordable rental homes for Jazz Fest in New Orleans? 5-8 friends want to find an affordable rental home for jazz fest in New Orleans. Any recommendations for neighborhoods, things to watch out for, etc? I've heard some mixed reviews on vrbo.com - as in people getting ripped off. I haven't been for 10 years, but looking for something that may be accessible to transportation and safe for a house full of mostly women.
Do you beleive in pet psychics? My little calico cat went missing about three to four weeks ago. I have searched every where. I had a co worker tell me about a pet psychic that she was given good reviews on. I have not given up hope,I keep looking, she is spayed so I know she did not run off for that reason. She usually has a general area in which she stayed in around the house. Any suggestions? I am still doing the shelters and humane society weekly as well as on line postings. How long has a kitty been gone before showing up back home? I have had this cat since she was around 4 weeks old and it is really hurting me that she is not home yet, this is not Patches. I keep praying she comes home safe.
Betta Home? I found this betta fish bowl, but I don't know if it would be safe. I know a lot of people say to keep them in a tank, but if I only get one, I (nor my dad) don't think I need all of that room. What do you think about that? Back to the bowl. So like I said, I fould it on-line. It hangs on the wall and looks really cool! There is only one main problem........If you look at the top closley, it is open a little bit. I know bettas jump, so I don't know if it would be safe. There is a link at the bottom. There are reviews too. Tell me what you think. Is it safe? Do you really think that a betta would jump out of that? What do you think of the bowl in general? http://www.petco.com/product/14428/Aquat... Thanks in advance! I know I asked this, but I put it in the wrong section. SOOOOO sorry try this http://www.petco.com/product/14428/Aquatic-Gardens-Hanging-Betta-Bowl.aspx
Is it safe for me to post a link to my Security Benchmark Score Details from Belarc advisor here? I want someone to review my results of a Belarc system scan to tell me if the fails are really important for me to address, or if it is okay for me to have failed the issues I did. But I am concerned that if I paste the link to the results here; 1. will someone be able to use any of the info there to hack my system or something? 2. Is it normal to have so many fails on a home system in a rural area where I am not worried about anyone accessing my home network wireless signal? Thanks for letting me how if this would safe ... because I would like to paste the results here in Yahoo Answers for someone smarter than me to review and advise me if it is okay to have failed the items I did fail. Thanks in advance, P in FL
Are there any safe restraints for kids with autism? One of my customers has a child with severe autism. They are a wonderful and supportive family with more than one special needs child. As of late the physical abuse sustained by the parents and siblings of said child is becoming difficult for parents to handle. Mom asked about info on safety restraints for home and vehicle so as to assist in keeping other family members safe during the more difficult outbursts and to SAFELY be able to transport pt. and siblings to appointments. I have not been able to locate ANY information on such products and in fact most info i have reviewed seems to condemn such devices. Any advice from folks w/ similar situations that i might pass on? Thank You In Advance ...
Home Sale: Are We Responsible for Paying for the Electrician? We are in the process of selling our house (closing is on Feb 19th.) We've already gone through a LONG negotiation process with the buyer. Inspection has been completed, and we fixed all of the areas of concern. Both parties signed off on the addendum to the sale, addressing the fixes, and at this point, we are just waiting to make sure the buyers loan goes through (it's an FHA loan). Today the loan company said they will not approve our buyers loan until a small area of the house is painted (note: no concerns about paint came up in the home inspection) and the electrical panel in the house is inspected and deemed safe. The buyer is now demanding that we pay for an electrician to go to the house and review the electrical panel again, and to have the painting completed. Isn't it the buyers responsibility to take care of these items, since they are items being required for HIS loan? Have you ever heard of a mortgage company requiring items that were not addressed in the inspection? Keep in mind, we are losing a HUGE amount of money on this sale, and are just barely able to come up with the funds for closing, so we don't want to pay for things if we don't have to. Any thoughts? Update: We have already paid $1k in repairs after the inspection, on top of the $5k seller assist we are giving the buyer, plus the reduction in the offer. All told, we are in for about $8k in costs at closing. The electrician's fee and paint will be less than $100, but we've already been bled dry by this buyer, so we just want to know if we HAVE to pay for these items, or if we are just getting taken advantage of. Our agent is new to the business, and doesn't have the experience to know when to push back. One more update (lol): The electricity in the house is old (fuses, not breakers) and it did come up in the inspection that the wiring was old, but not a huge safety issue. We agreed in writing with the buyer that we would fix everything from the inspection except for the electricity because it was so expensive to rewire the whole house. He agreed that he would buy the house with the electricity as-is, and would pay to have it fixed at his discretion.
Is Moreno Valley a safe place to raise a family? I currently live in a very nice part of Long Beach, but we have recently sold our house to live in a cheaper city. I went to Corona, and parts of it didn't look so bad, but it still didn't look nearly as safe as where I live now. I am 26 weeks pregnant, and when looking at the neighborhoods that our realtor brought us to, I just can't see myself safely going for walks with my newborn baby. I was seriously preparing on buying a gun, putting up bars on the windows, and telling my boyfriend to take his new rims off his car so it doesn't get stolen. I know that people steal cars with rims and sell the rims and abandon the car, I know because it happened to my boyfriend's brother, and he may not live in a city like mine, but it's defenently much nicer than Corona. Also, I read a lot of reviews on here and they didn't sound so good. I looked up a lot of beautiful homes in Moreno Valley, for much cheaper than Corona, and I was wondering is that would be a better place to raise a family? I also found a few nice houses in Riverside, most of them in gated communities, are there nice parts of Riverside that are still close to the freeway?
Reviews of the "WalkyDog" Bike attachment? For anyone with the "WalkyDog" bike attachment device.... http://www.amazon.com/Walky-Hands-Free-Bicycle-Leash/dp/B003OYIAW4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1300322390&sr=8-1 ... would you recommended it? Our dog is an extremely fast and energetic 1 year old female husky; who is an EXTREME puller, and will *never* heal. So, for a dog that's not well trained as far as healing, (she's 100% at all other commands, however) would you advise it? Plus, my dad is really worried that she'd run under the bike. Is this possible? Or is the dog far enough away from the bike to keep a safe distance? THANK YOU! =)
Is it safe to give a dog "Cerenia" to stop vomiting every month? I have a 3 year old Shepherd mix female. I got her from a animal shelter when she was 2 months old, and have had her ever since. She has always been a "special needs" dog though. Meaning, she gets sick more than an average dog from different causes--everytime I go see a vet it's just something minor and they fix it. However, now, she is starting to vomit (food/bile/water) out of no where. It happens once a month (for about 3 months now), and she vomits, then her stomach gets irritated so she keeps vomiting. When it started I took her to the vet; they did x-rays--which were perfectly normal. So the vet concluded maybe she ate something that disagreed with her stomach, and she got in the cycle of vomiting. She gave her a pepcid shot, and a Cerenia shot. Everything cleared up. Last month, this happened again. I took her to the vet again, and they had no idea of the cause. Nevertheless, I asked the vet if I could be prescribed some Cerenia tablets to give to her at home so that I don't have to rush her to the vet everytime she throws up and can't stop. The vet prescribed me 4. During that visit as well, the vet gave my dog a Cerenia shot, I gave her pepcid tabs at home, and she was fine once again. Now, this month, she threw up twice yesterday. So i gave her a Cerenia tab (as instructed), and a pepcid tab, and put her on a bland diet. So far she is normal again. So here is my question. The vet told me the next time I came in she couldn't give my dog Cerenia bc she doesn't want to just treat the symptoms. However, she wants to do a Berrium X-ray (sp?). I did some research and a berrium x-ray is only if there is an object (such as cloth) stuck in her stomach. I know that's not the cause because it's too coincidental that it happens every month--and I looked up reviews for my vet and people say they try to charge you an arm and a leg for useless x-rays. So, I am probably going to switch vets. But, would it be okay for a vet to prescribe me Cerenia tablets for my dog, and I just give her them when she can't stop vomiting (like once a month)? Also, any ideas on the cause? It started around December 20th; I live in a big city, and it was about the same time they started to salt the sidewalks and streets. She also has a habit of licking her paws; so I wipe them after she goes outside, but could it be the salt? Any other ideas? Thank You for your input! I also wanted to add that I have another dog (1.5 yr old puggle) who lives with me, and does everything my shepherd does. He is perfectly fine, never a problem.
Iron Gym Pull-Up Bar - is it safe? doorway requirements? i just spent the past two hours reading reviews on this thing, and yet i *still* can't figure out if this thing is a good idea or not! - so, i'm hoping some of you who have actually purchased one can give me your expert input.. here's the deal - my 16yr old son wants a chin-up bar (aka pull-up bar - whatever you call these things)...so anyway, the one he was originally going to order requires that you screw it into/onto/above (whatever) the door frame - of course, my husband had a fit and so he's not getting that one, lol... so then, i find the Iron Gym Total Body Workout Bar - which uses cantilever technology, so supposedly there's no screws necessary - and supposedly you won't die from using it because it won't accidentally fall down while using it...supposedly...oh, and he's 6ft, and 150 pounds at the most...soaking wet (yeah, so he's gonna totally "bulk up" by using this, right? of course not...oh well, it's his money...that i give him weekly for doing nothing). and then there are the doorway requirements - and all sorts of differing opinions on what will and won't work for an older home...we have an older home - but it's not super old, lol - so i have no idea exactly how thick or thin or tall or short the door frame moulding and the width inside the door frame has to be or not be in order to use it with no problem..i did find one review where someone was so kind as to list the measurement requirements, but they wrote it in that crazy metric stuff (and they had so many freaking dimensions listed, i worried that i'd mess up even if i used a calculator...besides which, maybe theirs had different dimensions because they're obviously not from the US, lol). oh, and then there were those who say the "original" version of the Iron Gym is better, and others who argue that the "Xtreme" version is better...who's right? he doesn't care about having a bunch of different grips - so long as the grips he can use are correct for a regular chin-up. but i care about having one that isn't going to fall apart after a few weeks (i've read all sorts of stories involving the bolts/screws/plastic pieces/metal pieces - some say one's better than the other. any advice from those who've actually owned one will be greatly appreciated. :)
My short story? Need reviews please? I kept asking myself why this happened, but I could never come out with a realistic answer. We had to run, as fast and as far as we could. The forest was dangerous here in Ontario, Canada, we had to leap over ever obstacle in the way. I was confused, when I first found out, but my brother told me he had a plan. I never knew that what they did was wrong, that's just the way I grew up. Living in the basement of their house, just my brother and I. The basement was dark, and the air was thick. The walls cold, made of cement. We never got to go upstairs, or outside. They told me it was normal, that every teenager lived like this. My brother always doubted them, but with no knowledge of any other way of living, he had nothing or no one else to believe. I still believed them though, even if I hated them. But I only hated my “parents,” because they were always uptight and strict. They yell at us all the time, constantly telling us were horrible children and that we don’t deserve anything they give us. The odd thing though, was that even after all the rude things they tell us, they go to extreme lengths to keep us safe in the basement. They told us that the world was dangerous, and that they’re just doing the best for us. My “parents” were gone for the day, before they left they made sure the door’s locks were all locked, and the one tiny window was locked shut. We never knew why they did that, we figured they were just tyring to keep us safe. My brother and I just sat there talking for as long as we had to. Before we knew it, the locks on the door clicked, they were finally home we thought. We starred up the long dark stairwell expecting to see there familiar faces stare back at us, but to our surprise it wasn’t them. A young girl starred down at us in complete surprise. “Who are you? Why are you here?” The girl asked us. I didn’t know why she was there and what she was doing, I didn’t want to respond to her, but my brother did. “Well, I’m Kyle and this is my sister Alison. Were just down here waiting for our parents to get back. But who are you?” The girl closed the door behind her, but keeping the key in her hand. She rushed down the stairs and stood right in front of us looking extremely confused. “Okay, I’m Christy. But what you’re telling me is that you have parents who live here? In this house? That’s impossible, I’m an only child and MY parents live here.” I shrugged not thinking to much of it, my brother just stood there also. “Oh no, this can’t be happening, you two have to get out of here as soon as possible. Those people, who keep you locked up here, aren’t your parents. You have to believe me, and you need to leave.” With that Christy ran back up the stairs, locked the door, and left. She left us confused and alone standing in the basement of a house that belongs to people who we now know aren’t our parents. We had nothing to say to each other, because we were both still trying to process what happened. As we were about to sit back down, we heard a small ‘clanking’ sound, reverberating off the empty walls. Kyla jumped up as he saw a tiny key fall to the cold cement floor. Christy had some how found a small crack in the wall, so she pushed the key into our basement to help us with our escape. We spent two weeks planning our escape. In those two weeks our “parents” started acting really suspicious, asking all sorts of questions. I think they suspected Christy was here, they never did find out what happened that day though. It was night now, dark and cold outside, as we were safely locked inside our basement. Our “parents” quietly asleep two floors above us. Kyle had the key, I had what little stuff we had as our possessions. We crept up the stairs, slowly and quietly he slid it into the locks, one by one, and opened the door to our escape. The house was quiet, and very unfamiliar. This was only our third time being upstairs. The floor creaked as we walked, the wooden boards would bend slightly under our weight. Making our way though the kitchen, we spotted the front door through the next room. I stopped Kyle. “Do you think that’s locked too?” Kyle looked at me, he just shrugged. “Let’s find out.” Tip-toeing through the final room, ready to leave, we heard voices. Then the creaking of floor boards above us, right above us. Looking up, we could see the old wooden floor boards bend under every step they took. They started yelling at each other, we were unable to understand it though. Suddenly it stopped, no voices, no sound, no movement. Kyle and I stood there in the dark kitchen, anticipating any situation. Immediately after, we saw a shadow coming down the stair well. The footsteps were swift, as if he was in a hurry for something. We froze. Our backs against the corner, we held our breath, hoping and praying that they would just go back to bed. “Hey, hey you two! What do you think you’re doing!?” He saw us, and he was very angry. We had two options, to surrender to them, or run. *THIS IS THE END* Without thinking, Kyle grabbed my wrist and we sprinted towards to front door. I felt a tugging on my sleeve, I was yanked back out of Kyle’s grasp. I felt a sharp slap across my face, and became a little unsteady. A cold blast of the cold, winter air surrounded us all. Kyle got the front door open and was fighting to get me free. We then ran, we didn’t stop or look back. We had successfully escaped.

More opinions please? I'd really love some reviews? Hi, I'm G., almost 15 this year. I know I posted this before but I never got any reply, yeah, I know, it's kinda long, but hey, it's a book. Anyway, I'm writing a story about the mafia/underworld or something like that. Mainly about a boy who were chosen as a candidate to take over his father's organization(more like forced to), but he is not the only one and have to prove himself. I've added some humor and happy times in as well. I know I have made grammar and/or spelling mistakes, but please note that english is not my mother tongue, I was born chinese and went to a all girls chinese school in Asia. Please don't go easy on me and say whatever you want. Er, I rather avoid troll or spam tho... I have broken down and rewrite it countless of time, the plot, character and setting. I'm determined to go with the one this time and already made some draft on papers. I'm pretty proud of it this time and was wondering, what do you think of it? Does it interest you? Should I keep going or take it down all over again? Please excuse the japanese names, the story is set in mainly japan, italy and most parts of Asia in the modern days with a mix of sci-fi. I tried to write in the paste tense. It's just a small part of chapter 1. I'll put some translation down at the bottom later. (note: Enma is not emo, he's just often ignored, not popular and semi-lazy kid) Here it is after the line: --- I don't really understand why I go to school every day, it’s not like I like it there or anything. I guess I just don't want to get in trouble. As long as they leave me alone, I’m fine with not having any friends. All I wanted is a normal life, when people started asking me what I want to be when I grow up I’ll just answer with an ‘I don’t know.’ or, ‘I haven’t decided yet.’, it’s really annoying but the truth is, I’ve been struggling on choosing what’s best suited for me. After all, I’m just a useless fool according to my teachers. My name is Takeuchi Enma, 15. Even though my existence is not known in class, it felt like a dream to be sitting a row apart from our school idol, Watanabe Aoi. Aoi is smart and talented, I don’t think she will noticed a looser like be but… I can’t help but stare at her. Her smile gave me confidence to live on, though I’ve never talked to her before. Only a few more seconds until school ends, I kept watch on the clock and count the seconds by heart. The bell rang not long after. “Alright, that’s it for today. Don’t get sick now!” Mr. Takagi said the same thing ever day, it sounds more that he is trying to jinx us. I got out of my seat and walk out the classroom. The area around the school gate was as noisy as ever, filled with chattering of students and after school clubs running around. Everything was the same as usual. I’m eager to get home as soon as possible, feeling so glad it’s the weekend. The weather had just started too warmed up as the streets of our town, Shinaki are packed with vendors and yatais, some of them, especially the older vendors waved to me. I waved back confused and though about it for a while, do I know them? I didn’t realize that I spaced out for a few minutes and walked the wrong way. Oh man, looks like it will be a while before I get home. Seeing couples chatting so casually and having fun made me wonder why I can never gather up the courage to speak to Aoi while others do it so naturally, this sucks. Well, I’m almost home anyway; I can push my troubles away to the weekend. As I reached for the door knob, I felt a strange killing aura around me. What’s this? I suddenly can’t move my hand. Oh man, is Mr. Takagi’s jinx coming true? Maybe I have a fever? But there's no way a killing aura has anything to do with a fever -- right? I'm sure I'm just thinking too much but it's better to be safe than sorry, there’s no way there can be any— This… is all a part of a dream right? I mean, the guy wearing black with a knife in front of me, and the woman that stopped it by grabbing his hand. I’m dreaming right? The guy was wearing a black suit, his face is hidden with a white surgical mask that made his ember eyes stood out, and it made him more frightening and suspicious. The woman was wearing a really long brown and white muffler, aside from that, her shorts and vest were both black. I’m confused, such things only happened in drama or televisions right? Oh god, somebody wake me up right now! “Move.” She spoke, sounded kind of pissed. “You’re in my way!” she did a head throw and faced me. It happened all in a flash, my whole body froze. She raised an eyebrow and walk passed me in to my house. I stared at the unconscious man in fear and relief and back away slowly, I’m grateful for what she did even though I don’t know her, but what business does a scary lady like that has in my house?! Yatais- Japanese street vendors Shinaki- New Autumn Aoi's name means blue, should I give her blue hair? xD Well, it is a fiction~ And her brother's name ia Akai, which means red. I fail when it comes to name. OTL||| Thanks for your reply. I'll make the changes. ^^ Jewel- I forgot to mentioned that my story will also be illustrated by me as a comic. It will be on sale sometime around Dec or Feb next year, but only in my country since I'm not big enough. For that reason, my readers will mostly only be around my country. I've tested out the names, every read it just fine so I will probably not change it. But thank you for your suggestion. ^^ Oh sorry, let me explain. He turns around to find a guy jump at him with a knife but the women stopped him. There's a reason why she can. No, she's not one of those super hero person, just a regular formal Navy instructor visiting her old friend(Enma's mom).

Is Hydrocrotisone safe? Well, I just started working at a pizza place about a month ago and have had a lot of pizza since then. A couple weeks ago I got REALLY constipated for about 3-4 days and wasn't able to push it out until the 3rd or 4th day (I forget which day). But when I did push it out I felt a really sharp pain going down the side of my anus, and the time after that when I had a bowel movement there was a bit of blood on my stool. But that only happened once and hasn't happened since I thought maybe it was a small tear in my anus, but I wasn't sure. The pain went away for a little bit and I haven't gotten too constipated or anything since then, but then the area around the outside of my anus started getting really itchy and it'd hurt when I wipe. I sort of felt a lump, but I just ignored it. I keep that area really clean so I don't think it's an infection, but today I just looked at the lump through a magnifying mirror and it was a plain, hard, white lump. There was only one, and it was a decent size; and it feels sensitive. I researched and called a few health clinics in my city and found out it was just a hemeroid. They were right too upon further research. But the last clinic I called told me to take a warm bath with some baking soda once a day for about 20-30 minutes to help that area; but she also told me to get an over the counter cream called Hydrocortisone. I did some research into it myself, I'm not allergic to any of it's components, but I'm turning up nothing but negative reviews and bad side effects on it. But they didn't tell me I could take any other home medications for it, so I don't know how much of it I should use or anything. I don't even know the percentage I need because some tubes say things like 1% or 1.5% and I don't know which one I need to use. How should I treat a hemeroid in a sensitive area like the anus? It's hurting and I want it gone. Thanks in advance.
Are The Exumas in The Bahamas safe? Until recently, everything I have read says that there is virtually no crime on Exuma and the people are very welcoming and helpful. However, I have been finding alot of online postings as of lately talking about an increase in crime regarding rental home break in's, petty theft, even a recent murder. And since we are renting a home on the beach, this is very unnerving to say the least. This is such a beautiful place and I don't want to be in any kind of danger while there on my wedding anniversary with my wife. We have already booked our trip and thought we had done a fair amount of research...until now of course. Please....if anyone is from The Bahamas or frequents Exuma, please advise if these are just isolated incidents or something I should genuinely be concerned with? My gut instinct tells me everything will be fine because 99% of the reviews I've read from those who have travelled there have been nothing but positive....so hopefully I will be proved wrong!
Am suppose to feel guilt about this! ? i got mixed reviews! what do you guys think!!? well i was appointed as a teacher in a pulic school . so i was new at work and thought it would be fun around kids! so they promised me a class where i will be as an associate teacher.so i started working with this really sweet teacher and we were looking after a class ! but my work was limited since she did all the teaching! and i got work like greeting the kids from the bus or waiting with the kids till their parents came to take them home! i felt like nanny instead of a teacher! but keepin all this apart another strange situation came in my way. the class i was responsible for had a kid who attention deficiency prob and traits of autisim and most time was under sedation. this kid was hyper and used to hit other kids and woud do the craziest things .once he even banged another kid's head with a wooden chair!so he was just not fit be around the normal todlers. i talked about this to my head but she refused to take any action cause she wanted to look good to her superior and plus the kid's mom work at the school. and her mom wouldnt send her kid to a special shcool cause what will the "society" think!? all this was upsetting me cause i was so new at handling the normal kids that this kid was totally out my control lierally running over places and hitting other kids! the main prob came when the head decided she is going to make me incharge of the kid cause she thinks i have the patience which is true cause the other teachers would just yell at the kid when he did something which is wrong cause the kid is not doin git on purpose and any yelling wont help cause he is not normal.! the best part is the way my head manipulated me to stay with the kid by not telling me before hand the prob the kid has or she will talk to her head if i dont take care of him and so on. i left the school! i had enough. i had breakdowns when i used to come home! it was going out of control! after i left the school they hired a "special teacher". i thought why didnt they do that in the first place!? am i suppose to feel guilty? cause honestly i dont. what i dd is right for the kid too now he can get a properly trained teacher in whose guidance he will be safe. what did ya say!?

What do you think of my short story? Reviews, criticism, horrible insults? I think I'm going to go insane... It's been twenty eight days since the seventeenth of December, and the rain hasn't faltered for a second since then. It keeps falling in sheets, driving down from the heavens like a waterfall. Outside, you feel like you could drown walking. When this all started out, I don't think that anyone thought much of it. I mean, this nightmare was just another winter storm then. It started in kind of an odd place, out in the North Atlantic across from the Gulf of St. Lawrence, but I'm not sure that meant anything to people who weren't meteorologists or oceanographers. The storm started out expanding very rapidly. I'm not sure if it's still growing or not, since the TV hasn't come on for more than three weeks, but it sure hasn't moved at all. Things started looking more bizarre when the wind failed to move the storm. It just kept hammering New England, growing south along the coastline from Maine all the way down to where I lived in Nassau County, just outside of New York City. The weather forecasts changed every few minutes, as forecasters revised their estimates, going from saying that there would be light flurries, to saying that there would be a few inches of snow, to saying that there would be an absolute blizzard across the city, and that everyone should stay inside. My wife, Sarah, couldn't heed that warning, though. She had to go to work, and I had to stay home and take care of our five year old daughter, Tanya. When my wife walked outside that morning, I promised her that I would keep Tanya safe. Watching Sarah pull out of the driveway in her Nissan Altima, I had no idea that would be the last time I would ever see her. As the day wore on, the weather took a turn for the worse. It looked like the weather forecasters were right, predicting one of the worst storms New York had seen in over a century. It amazed me when the power stayed on late into the night, but I wasn't complaining. You never know exactly how bad a blackout really is until you go through one with a five year old who's still terrified of the dark. Not that I can say I'm not scared of the dark anymore, myself. The last time we saw the cheerful, smiling forecasters on the Weather Channel, they were saying that the storm had expanded south into New Jersey, and that we could receive two feet of snow during the night. It was at about 6:23 P.M., I think. Less than a minute later, the Weather Channel cut off, and every program on the television changed to a warning, telling everyone to get out of New York City along whatever bridge they could take and avoid Manhattan Island. I tried to reach the company where Sarah worked on my phone, but the lines were down. I didn't really know what was going on, but I decided to listen to the reporters on my TV, and get Tanya out of the city. I struggled with the idea that I shouldn't just desert Sarah, who worked on Manhattan, but when I got outside, I realized that I couldn't possibly risk going there. To the south, across the horizon, the dark clouds of night were painted red with flames. The traffic was horrible, but not as bad you might think. A lot of people were reluctant to leave. They all seemed to be in shock. I drove my Cadillac along the roads through Nassau and Queens, seeing a lot of people standing by the roadside watching the shadow of the flames flickering against the sky, but running into far fewer actually driving along the road. Some of the people were slowly making their way by foot out of the city, and as time went on, the traffic congestion got a bit worse, but amazingly I was able to get myself and Tanya out of New York before it became so bad that I couldn't drive at all. I still remember looking across the harbor on the road from Queens to the mainland, and seeing Manhattan Island burning. I don't think that I'll ever forget that. Tanya kept staring out the window, speechless, and tired, too, I believe. I don't know for certain what time it happened to be, but I think it was past eleven. All night, I drove through the countryside, trying to pick up a radio station that could tell me what was going on. There was nothing anywhere, though, except news of the mandatory evacuation of New York. It seemed odd to me that I had seen very few police officers and no military officials anywhere. Now, looking back, I think they were probably all either elsewhere, or dead. The next day, things were worse. The weather started getting warmer, and the snow turned to rain. Piles of snow by the roadside were melting, and the blacktop was covered with water and mud. The clouds kept getting darker as the day went on, and as we ran into more and more traffic, coming from places all along coastal New England. The radio evacuation order was going out then to everyone from Massachusetts south to New Jersey. By the time that night fell, it was pretty hard to tell night from day. Tanya started asking me wh
A good method of going blonde at home???! (10 POINTS!!)? I really want to go blonde in the summer holidays so I have blonde hair when I go back to school. I have medium hair now (its naturally a tincy bit lighter but I dyed it dark, semi-permanent, 6 months ago - ITS FADED THOUGH!! lol). I was thinking.... After doing lots of research.... That firstly I use the Jerome Russell Hair Lightener with 2 sachets of bleaching powder and 2 packs of developer (I need two to be on the safe side as my hairs quite thick). I leave this bleaching kit (which has had 5star reviews btw) on for about an hour or longer (it depends as I need to do a strand test before). After bleaching til I think its the colour I want, I'll rinse it, dry it, then, as I know it will be yellowy orange because I have brown hair naturally, I'll dye over the colour with nice 'n' easy light ash blonde semi permanent hair dye. I need to use ash colour as this gets rid of the orangeyness from the bleaching process. I'll then use nice 'n' easy root touch up till I want to go back brown. Is this a good method? (btw I don't want to go to an expensive salon as I'm only 15 and I cant afford it). btw I want it to look a bit like this http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2342/2280330548_dc7a1f6e7b.jpg thanks xxx
How is my story going so far? Please, I need reviews? :)? Its about a fairy who gets adopted by humans and has to hide her magical powers: A typical day in my fairy house involved me delivering the pixey newspaper, coming home, and working on turning my homework into a frog. My parents were delighted at how fast my magic was excelling even though I was merely six years old. They were always pleased when I transformed an ordinary object into something magical, even if it did turn into an enormous ravenous bear. They constantly showered me with hugs or patted me on the back and said “Great job, Alyssa.” I remember having a massive grin on my face whenever my parents were proud of me. But one day, it all drastically altered. Our fairy chief decided it was time to move Pixeyville to somewhere safe because one solitary fairy almost gave away our hiding spot. This involved the millions of fairies to pack up their valuables and fly for hours and hours to our new location. Of course, when there’s chaos, there’s always Trolls . I remember we were flying down an alley to cross into Goblin Drive when we heard faint footsteps behind us, coming closer and closer every second. My parents looked back and I remember they started tugging on my hand and we started to progress quicker down the alley. They kept telling me not to look back and keep my eyes on the road straight ahead. The footsteps approached quicker and it sounded like the followers were coming closer. Before I knew it, my dad let go of my hand and flew backward to the trolls. Trolls are these horrendous creatures that go on killing sprees when there is chaos around Pixeyville, usually when it’s moving time. They wear black pants up to there waist and a red shirt with a big white ‘T’ printed on the front. They wear tall pointed black and red hats that are probably bigger then there whole body. I remember looking back and saw the trolls pushing my father down the alley and into a door. I started screaming frantically while looking at my frightened mom. “It’s okay Alyssa, just keep moving.” We started flying forward as fast as we could and I could hear my mothers strenuous breathing. Again, I heard the trolls come out of the door and start following me and my mother. My breathing quickened rapidly as me and my mother, hand in hand, tried to make it to Goblin Drive. I wanted to be in an open road with witnesses and open air, not in a stuffy ally. I heard the troll snicker behind me before it grabbed my mother by the wings and pulled her to the back of the ally. I turned around and started screaming. “No, give me my mother back! Give her back you Trolls!” I yelled as loud as I could as I ran toward them. The troll headed for the door with my mom’s wings gripped in his hard fists. I saw my mom mouth ‘I love you’ before the troll took her inside. The troll that took my father came outside, probably to capture me also. But before he could get to me, I heard the policaries car siren approaching and it stopped a few feet behind me. The troll’s eyes widen and he started backing up toward the building. The policaries quickly grabbed the troll, handcuffed him, and pushed him in the car. As for my mother, she was already in the same building as my dad. I told the policaries that my parents were in the building and they rushed inside with there bats and guns. I stood outside anxiously waiting. I felt a bead of sweat drip down from my forehead onto my shoulder. I started pacing up and down the alley while thinking of all the possibilities. I flinched, and stopped thinking altogether. Finally, the policaries came out with about five trolls in handcuffs but I saw no sign of my mom and dad. I ran to the nearest cop and demanded where my parents were. At first, the officer just stared at me with a sadden expression, but then he started to talk. “I’m very sorry but we couldn’t get to your parents in time.” Was all he said… and walked away. I leaned against the brick wall and fell down on the ground with my hand in my face. I remember sobbing and weeping and actually falling asleep in the alley due to exhaustion.
Rate the first bit of my book please- help and reviews appreciated. =]]? The air was strangely warm for early November- all day the sun had peeked out at the small town from behind fleeting thin stretches of clouds. Now as the sun finally set over the horizon, teenagers, free from school for the next two days, swarmed the streets, enjoying what they could of this unexpected reprieve from autumn's chill. Young couples strolled the sidewalks, fingers interlocked while they laughed and joked, shoving playfully. However, something else roamed the streets, alongside the innocent youths. For the most part, he didn't attract attention as he strode purposefully towards his destination. The boy looked to be around eighteen- his frame was just the right height- his chest wide while lean- his wiry muscles gave him a toned look- enough to make him look mysterious and dangerous. He slipped silently into the bookstore at the corner- a tiny, one story brick building. The girl behind the counter looked positively mutinous as she glared out the window at her friends and classmates, clearly envious. However, the moment she looked at his face, a seductive smile leapt to her lips. His face was enough to fill her stomach with butterflies- but when he walked past, not so much as glancing at her, she propped her head back up in her hand, and stared at the place where he'd disappeared between bookshelves. She dwelled on the fleeting look of what she deemed perfection. The cheekbones- high and proud. His lips- she shivered a little at the memory. His upper lip was full- and yet nearly hidden by the pouting, lower- twisted eternally into a smirk. His nose was perfect and clear, as were his cheeks and forehead- not the faintest trace of the blemishes that were a teenagers torture distorted his features. And then- her heart skipped a beat just daring to peek at the recollection of this stranger's eyes. They were pitch black- of that she was certain- but the darkest blue spiraled out from the irises- swirling around until it formed a ring aorund his dark pupils. His hair was ear length and black- worn in a carefully casual diasrray, framing his perfect face- just a little messier than the current style. She hadn't noticed, of course, the monster, always lingering behind the face of a model, the perfect, pointed teeth behind those perfect lips. Hidden from sight in between the first shelves he'd come to- he felt better. For 269 years, he'd roamed the planet- running when he felt the need, sleeping when he grew weary, and hunting when the thirst began to burn in his mouth. But even after that nearly incomprehensible number of years, he shuddered under public scrutiny. From the moment the sun had risen that morning, he'd ben active- perfecting his plans- walking the path he'd be following later on in the night. He had endured the gentle agony of the sun's relentless gaze for some thirteen hours. The crippling pain of standing in a spotlight, with all eyes on you- feeling horribly exposed, which went against the simplest nature of the vampires. Now, alone and indoors, his body finally was able to relax- and he found himself adjusting, with relief, to the safety of night. He almost grinned- but then he realized just what section of the story he'd taken sanctuary in. The young adult. His teeth clenched at the sight of the book covers around him. Row after row of vampire novels met his beautiful eyes, currently narrowed into dangerous slits. The books pushed him to the edge of anger, they never failed to make his eyes flash with the dangerous fury of his kind. The bookstore was his safe-haven- so calming was the atmosphere that more than once he'd fallen asleep in one of the armchairs my the tiny fireplace- waking up to find that the kindly old woman who ran the store had draped a home-knitted quilt over him in the night. Back in 2005, he'd read one of these novels- in those days very few books of it's kind were in circulation- he'd been drawn in by it's elegantly simple cover. By the end of the novel he was beyond loathing for the unknown woman whose name was printed across the glossy cover. Until that point- his people had been thought of as monsters- the evil creatures of myth, legend, and nightmares. In this book, there were GOOD vampires! They were idolized, thrown into an admirable light after centuries of much deserved darkness. What do you guys think so far?? Yes, I was alluding to Twilight with the book he picked up in the shop- =]] He didn't like it much- Yes, I'm continuing with it- and to the first answerer- I'd email you more- but you "don't allow email." =]] I have a better version- with better wording that I'm typing up to get published. =]]
Help reviewing Essay!!!? I need to write a persuasive essay of why we should keep our current curfew under law. Can you review it please and see what I can change. Many teenagers and even children wander the streets at night for different reasons. They could be causing trouble, going to parties and even doing drugs. In fact, a majority of vandalism is done during the night. Although there is a law giving minors a curfew, some believe that it is unfair and should be revoked. They don't realize that curfews keep children safer, help students with academic and sport achievements, help fight vandalism and give parents a peace of mind. The number one reason for a curfew is to keep minors safe from any dangers the streets could bring. The streets have become a real hazard to young children, even adults can't walk alone without being in danger. At night drunks come out of their bars, drug dealers try to make business at a low profile, and even rapist try to strike at an unexpected time. Having a curfew can help kids come home safe and reduce the risk of getting hurt. At the same time, teens can come home at a certain time keeping them away from parties and other social events that may start out as harmless but lead to danger after alcohol or drugs make an appearance. Helping minors stay safe is not the only advantage of a curfew, it helps students keep a sharp mind for school. If there are no curfews out then kids that attend school will stay out late with their friends and get little time to rest their brains. Teenagers need the most rest out of all the age groups to stay focused in school and get the best grades possible. With a curfew young athletes won't be temped to stay out late, giving them time to rest their bodies and be physically prepared for any competition. Some say that without a curfew minors will learn responsibility on their own. With the peer pressure that is put on today's youth the chances of them learning responsibility is unlikely. Letting minors stay out late is just a mistake..... It's not done and I need a conclusion :) Just trying to see how it is so far.
What is the most prestigous community in fort worth, or where is a great place to raise children in F.W.? We live in MD, and we are very interested in moving to F.W. We looked at North Richland Hills, Grapevine and Arlington. For a home $175-$250k, where is the safest, best schooling, up and coming area to move? D.F.W. is a huge area, but we are getting mixed reviews. Coming from a upper class area in MD, what would be the best place to move in this prce range? The last question is what is the more prestigous areas in D.F.W. from 1-10, and what areas are the area to "Avoid"?
Are HDTV service contracts worth getting? The manufacturer has a one year warranty, but these sellers are advising to get one. For one 350 buck lcd, it recommended a three year contract that costs 110 bucks. I know it's a waste, but doing research on reviews, many complaints about them breaking. How sturdy are these things anyways? Do they last or break after a year? I won't be buying a cheap brand, but is it safe to just buy the LCD and take it home and use it as a television?
Who thinks the Lady Vols were cheated out of the championship? In the last inning the girl on third ran home and Doepking got the ball and tagged her. The umpire said she was safe before Doepking tagged her. But on the replay you can clearly see that the girl from Arizona missed home completely. The commentators didn't even say anything about it. It was clear that she missed the base though. I think that they should have at least reviewed it before giving them the run.
what can you say about Hypnosis in the Delivery Room/Labor Room It isn't for every woman, but "hypnobirthing" certainly has its fans, including Carla Breakey, a 38-year-old home business owner from Idaho. And rave reviews from women like Breakey are helping this method of natural childbirth grow in popularity around the globe. Breakey used hypnobirthing for two of her three children. Hypnobirthing teaches women how to hypnotize themselves to manage their labor, helping them to relax and let their bodies take over. The theory is that, in the absence of fear and tension, severe pain does not have to accompany labor. In this calm state, endorphins -- naturally occurring chemicals in the body that can relieve pain -- replace the stress hormones that contribute to pain, proponents say. "I enjoyed the experience a lot more and was a lot more present when I used hypnobirthing," Breakey tells WebMD. For her first child, Breakey had a standard hospital birth with an epidural. That time, she says, "I felt like I was fighting the labor, and after the epidural was administered, I couldn't feel anything, which was scary." That's why she, along with her husband, Jeff, decided to try hypnobirthing for their second child. "I was very skeptical the first time, but the experience was unbelievable. I was relaxed, and it really does help with the pain," she says. "With hypnobirthing, I felt confident, and when the contractions would come, they weren't scary at all." And although some experts warn that undergoing any type of drug-free childbirth requires a high level of determination and commitment, proponents say hypnobirthing really can help ease women's fears about the birth process. "Hypnobirthing is a childbirth process that includes a major focus on many of the techniques used in hypnotherapy to relieve fear," Pat Burrell, RN, a hypnobirthing therapist based in State College, Pa., tells WebMD. "It integrates factual information on the childbirth process along with hypnosis." Burrell is also an instructor with the American Board of Hypnotherapy and an executive board member of the Hypnobirthing Institute in Epsom, N.H. "Other childbirth processes approach pain as a given and try to find ways to deal with pain, from medication to massage, but hypnobirthing teaches women to transform the sensation of pain so that it feels like something else," she says. "The healthiest way to deliver a baby is to be very relaxed and allow the body to do it. Once labor begins, it has its own momentum and mom really doesn't need to do much of anything." Hypnobirthing can also be used along with other birthing processes ranging from Lamaze to pain-killing drugs, Burrell says. Couples learn the technique by taking between four and six classes, starting after the first trimester of pregnancy. "The partner is the hypnotherapist and helps the woman get into a trance-like state, where she is fully conscious of what her body is doing," Burrell explains. "She is very relaxed, which provides a safe and healthy environment for the baby and the mom." Burrell says hypnobirthing creates a strong bond between the couple as well as between the mother and her baby. The cost varies across the country, and many insurance companies do reimburse for hypnobirthing classes, she says. Debbie Wagner, a clinical hypnotherapist in Bellevue, Wash., has taught hypnobirthing to hundreds of expectant mothers since the early 1990s."I have had great success with it," she tells WebMD. "Many women have told me that they had a sense of control that wasn't present [in previous births] after using hypnobirthing." But some experts warn that hypnotism may not be enough to help everyone endure the powerful pains of labor. Yvonne Thornton, MD, PhD, a senior perinatologist at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, says she would counsel women to think long and hard before they decide to try hypnobirthing or any other method of drug-free delivery. "If you really want to have a drug-free birth, you have to be committed to the program or technique because if you are not really committed, it's a farce," she tells WebMD. "Some people have a fairy-tale idea about the true nature of labor, but it is painful. It is one of the most painful crisises that the woman has to endure."

I think I'm losing my touch as a writer. Can you review this opening for me? I would like to pursue a career in writing (and have done since I was 6), but I fear Im getting worse. Please review the opening to this story I am writing. Be as harsh or as kind as you need to be. Thanks. PROLOGUE All’s fair in love and war. At least, that was what Cora had been told. It was, of course, completely untrue. If all was fair, her baby wouldn’t be in hiding with her mother. If all was fair, she would still be able to see Atreyu, the love of her life. If all was fair, there would be no love and no war. ONE The violet hues of dawn illuminated the blanket of snow which had fallen on Cyprien Forrest. By the time they found the body, it would be nothing but a pile of bones. The forest was Hero’s favourite place to hunt. It snowed all year round, Snow made the animals and slow and weak; they were easier to catch like that. So were the humans. Hero had been lucky that morning. A traveller had wandered off the trail and gotten lost. He was dying of hypothermia when she found him. She put him out of his misery almost instantly. After making and incision on the neck with her razor sharp tongue, she proceeded to drain the corpse. She supposed drinking blood made her a cannibal. Or a half-cannibal. After all, she was only half-human. She removed his wallet from his inner coat pocket and took a look. It was filled with pictures of children – his children. Hero waited for her emotions to kick in. She was expecting to feel guilty, but she didn’t. She never did. ------------------------------------- It was 8 o’clock by the time Hero arrived home. Cross was already awake. “You’re late, Cora,” Cross said, reaching for her pills. Cora was Hero's middle name. Cross always used it and Hero never objected. Hero passed them to her. “Sorry. I lost track of time.” “That’s okay. You home safe is all that matters.” Cross swallowed her pills with a glass of water and put them back on the coffee table. “Do you want some breakfast?” Hero offered. “I’m capable of making my own breakfast, dear. Just because I can’t see, doesn’t mean I’m blind, not incapable.” She rose from her chair, pushed the dark glasses up her nose, and then made her way to the kitchen with the aid of her walking stick. “You should get ready for school.” “Are you sure you’re okay.” “I can manage just fine, thank you,” Hero walked slowly to the bathroom. She was in no hurry; it took her just minutes to get to school. Superhuman speed was one of the very few advantages of being a monster She took her time, brushing her through her silky golden locks carefully. She stared into the mirror, looking for any traces of blood around her face. As usually, she was spotless. Her eyes were burning crimson as they always were after a meal, but she knew that the silvery-grey would return before she got to school. Nobody would know any different.. Nobody would ever see these eyes. The eyes of a killer. Just incase you are unclear about what's going on, the girl Cora in the prologue is the mother of Hero and the daughter of Cross. Cora and Atreyu died in said war, so Hero being taken care of by Cross. Please don't say this is like Twilight, because it isn't. Trust me. Hero is not a vampire or a half-vampire. She is half-human, and half-Cruentus, Cruenti being a race of parasites evolved from humans. Honestly, not all stories about vampires, or vampire like creatures are a rip off of Twilight. There were plenty of vampire books before Twilight. Nobody ever says "Oh, Twilight is a rip off of Interview with the Vampire." or any other vampire story. I have spent weeks creating this race of creatures, and although they have similarities to vampires, they are nothing like the Cullens. I can assure you of that. The half-cruentus thing does get explained later on in the story. Cyprien Forest is a forest. Like Epping Forest in England. Its just the name of a place. Cyprien Forest is a forest. Like Epping Forest in England. Its just the name of a place. Cyprien Forest is a forest. Like Epping Forest in England. Its just the name of a place.
Denver.....? My family and I are taking a weeks vacation in Denver over the 4th of July. We are on a limited budget and are trying to find loding that will be $300 or less for the week. I've looked at area hotels and if we want one that's SAFE and CLEAN, we can't touch it for under $450. Thought about taking our motor home, but SAFE and CLEAN RV Parks in the Denver area are few and far between. So, I've condsidered renting a condo/apt/home that someone uses as a vacation home. Checked out a few of those online, and not much luck. Anyone have any suggestions for affordable lodging accomodations? We've received really low rates on hotels in Denver when going for medical reasons, but the hotel I wanted to stay at requires a letter from the hospital. Anyone know of any other discounts we may be able to get? We are not to picky, but I do rely on reviews from tripadvisor.com before making a decision. HELP.... we leave this Saturday. Serious answers only please.
Fullmetal Alchemist for PS2: Is this a safe game for kids? My 10 year old stepson brought this game home this past weekend. His mom had bought it for him, I'd never heard of it but apparently when he stays with her and her husband he watches it on Adult Swim (which freaks me out b/c it's so late AND duh! for Adults <sigh>) Anyway, all day Monday he was glued to it and had a really bad attitude problem. Finally at supper we'd had enough of the scowling and smart mouthing and sent him to bed, took away the game for 24 hrs. Tuesday he was a different kid. I know it wasn't all the game, he had probably not been getting enough rest at his mom's and he was also getting a cold which may have made him feel like snapping at people. But I did notice that when the game wasn't an option he was playing outside, laughing and acting like a kid again. With the games he has here he naturally balances playing them with doing other things. It concerns me how addicted he seemed to this. The review of the series seems VERY adult and dark w/ occult and Nazi themes?
My husband set up a video camera on the computer to spy on me. What do I do? Under the guise of "just charging the laptop" I just noticed that the computer sitting on the window sill in the bedroom has been recording all day long while my husband was out of the house. In other words, he is spying on me. Of course, I have absolutely nothing to hide and I don't think he should have ANY reason to suspect something so what gives?? Upon noticing, my reaction was to walk up to the computer and start talking to it asking it if my husband was crazy. Just in case it isn't recording audio, I went with the "safe option", wrote a little sign that said "Are you psycho?" and held it up, so he would get the point. I am now going to go to the gym and let him come home, review his footage, and reenter the house with cross arms and a "what is wrong with you" foot tap. Any insights? What is his problem? I'm the most loyal woman in the world!

Can you review another one of my poems? Drive I have nothing to say, if it's not about you There's so many things that I wish I could do But I was given the gift to write down my thoughts And so I'll write about this love that I got This love is for a girl, who knows me as a friend This poem is a message that I don't think I will send I'll keep it at home safe under my bed These thoughts that I'm writing will always be in my head They remain in my head, and also dwell in my heart These thoughts on this paper will not be torn apart Because I'll write them again, however many times it may take I'm driving this car called love and ain't hitting the brakes Say something now, or keep it all to yourself All my love poems are up on my shelf I'm waiting for the day when the time will be right My direction in life is based on only this sight This sight of a photo of me holding your hand I'm down on one knee, not wishing to stand The question I'm thinking gets you to cry Live each day as if tomorrow you'd die So here I kneel as a tear drops from your face I stand up and give you a warm embrace You quietly speak, but it's not hard to hear You said, “Yes.” despite all of your fears Who would think that “I” would be lost for words to say?
Looking to move to a safe neighborhood in Stockton, CA from IN. Ideally, close to or in an Asian 'hood, too ? Just don't want to be any place where there is a real threat of violence or gangs. I've reviewed the area's FBI index and it is similar to the town/city I'm moving from, which has some really dangerous areas but mostly more petty stuff, like thefts or late-night assaults on the streets. Rent/price of a home is a concern (coming from the cheaper Midwest), so I know I'll have to tolerate some stuff like this, but I just want to stay away from shootings or daytime muggings, as well as residential robberies, as much as possible. I've seen some pretty reasonably priced housing that looks nice/"suburban" too, and I'm surprised - Cali real estate in line with Indiana real estate? Are these decent looking homes actually in dangerous neighborhoods? The Asian requirement is for my fiancee, who is from abroad and wants to be in touch with such cultural influences, if possible (it appears that Stockton has a sizable Asian population, from the demographics we've seen). Thanks to any detailed and serious advice, from those in the know.
Tax Return Question for First Time Home Buyer credit filed by mail? I had heard of a lot of delays from the FTHB credit. So I decided to send it by mail for it would get reviewed quicker. So today the IRS website says its accepted and being processed and expect my refund on the march 17th.I had to pay taxes in this year so it did cut my credit in half.So question is since i filed by paper hoping it would be human reviewed first with out a computer spitting it out. Can I count on it being there on the date it shows with out it being delayed or did playing it safe and filing by mail just cost me more time. The only forms i filed were just my 1040 and self employment tax form along with form 5405 on the house i closed on in dec 08.

Video Loading Media Download VideoDownload Video Email a FriendEmail to a Friend Save This PageSave This Page Add to your Favorites Add to your Favorites StumbleUpon Stumble It! >>Advertisement<< It's one of the scariest situations a parent could face. Imagine showing up at your child's school to find your kindergartener isn't there. Jennifer Nguyen says she picks her kids up from Westlawn Elementary School every afternoon, but for some reason her youngest son's teacher decided to allow 5-year old Sebashten to walk home by himself. "The teacher said Sebashten told her he wanted to walk home, and the teacher said no you're a car rider. He said but I want to walk home, so she let him walk home," said Nguyen. The walk from the school to Nguyen's house is more than a mile, and to get there the kindergartener would have to cross the very busy Airport Boulevard. "It's something of course we never want to happen," said Nancy Pierce, a spokesperson for the Mobile County Public School District. "Anything we can do to prevent that from happening we try to do," said Pierce. Pierce says the school district has apologized the Sebashten's parents, and they are now reviewing their dismissal policy. Apology aside, Nguyen says what she was told by the school district Thursday is disturbing. "Dr. Carol said it was a common mistake and it happens in all schools around the United States," said Nguyen. "But, I don't believe it's a common mistake," she says. After two hours of searching, Sebashten was found safe but scared. His mom says he was more than two miles from the school and no where close to home.
Relaxer for Caucasian hair help? I have been thinking about relaxing my hair with this product: http://www.sallybeauty.com/Silk-Elements-Relaxer/SILKEL28,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair07 It has five star reviews and it seems to be the only relaxer that does. This will be the first time ever relaxing my hair, so I'm trying to find out as much information as possible. A little about my hair: My hair hasn't been dyed in some time, has never been relaxed, is curly and wavy, sort of poofy if I don't put a lot of product in, and is prone to being quite dry sometimes. Also it gets really frizzy and poofy in humid weather. I have a few questions about it. Would it work for Caucasian hair? Would I need a neutralizer to go with it? (It doesn't state whether one is needed or not) Is it safe for at home? Would I be able to dye my hair after the relaxer? Anything else you can tell me about relaxing Caucasian hair would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :]
Pond's clarant b3 Cream? I am talking about this cream here : http://www.ponds.com/ProductView.aspx?ProdId=7 I saw this at K-mart while purchasing a scrub and it looked interesting. I came home and searched for reviews. Seems like people like it but i have a few questions for people who have tried it. Is it meant to be an anti-aging creme? if so, is it safe if a 15 year old uses it? Does it lighten your skin tone? or just dark sports? (Because i don't want my complexion lightened, just the stubborn post acne marks) Thanks so much in advance :)
does this letter sound reasonable to leave a lease? and collect deposit? Dear Angie Sabater, This letter is in regards to 1212A S Boeke Rd. My residency of the last two months. I was reviewing my lease and feel as if you are not upholding your end of it. The issues I am about to state have been brought up multiple times since I moved in. 1.The wooden pallets that were next to the house on my side are now in the back yard due to my mother because they were such an eye sore. They are sitting there along with refuge from the apartment next door with a disgusting mattress, a broken TV, computer, and rolled up rugs. These items attract animals and rodents. This is not my style of living. 2.There is an odor in this home that I was assured was from the rugs that were removed. But there isn’t one person that has come to my home and not commented on the stench. I believe that the basement area under my living room is the cause of the smell due to previous pets using it as a litter box. 3.Granted you are taking care of the roach situation, I am very displeased that it was not brought to my attention before I signed the lease. 4.The basement is of no use due to what I previously stated about the smell. There are many roach bodies lying around down there and I don’t feel that I should have clean that up due to disgustingness. I most definetly would not want to use my vacuum down there as it is my own personal vaccum that I use in my living areas. 5.There was absolutely no weather stripping in the door jams. I had to seal them off with foam weather stripping. 6.Windows are so drafty that when I lit a match the flame flickered due to wind seeping through. We did attempt to tape up windows with weathering tape but still every morning I have extreme/dripping condensation on the glass. 7.The stove that was provided with the apartment is not in sync with the outlet provided, so I am forced to use an extension cord across my kitchen floor under my sink. This is not safe. 8.The lease states that you would maintain the yards appearance. There are leaves and debris everywhere. 9.I was never provided adequate garbage cans for your property. 10.The phone jack does not work in the hallway. I only have one working one in my bedroom. 11.The bathtub constantly drips warm water, which means water that I am heating and paying for. 12.I wake up with my eyes red and irritated every morning, which I believe is due to a buildup of mold in this home. Which is visible on the exterior of the house. I work 2nd shift, and when your brother occasionally stops by I am usually in the middle of my night and not alert enough to stress what needs to be fixed or needs to be done. But I have mentioned all of the above. I don’t want to be considered a complaining tenant, but I believe these are of just cause to discuss with you. As you can see I have stated over ten things that are of nusiciance, and took way too long to get fixed. This is my first apartment and much more stressful than I had anticipated. I would like to request my deposit back and am giving you a full 60 days noticed that I will be leaving.
Is CheckoutFree really free? So here's the story. I want to download a free version of a Clue computer game, because my CD-Rom version finally stopped working after many years. Yes, I know it's geeky, but I love Clue and no one ever wants to play it :p I found a free download with good reviews on Shockwave, a safe game website and I know people who have used it. There is an offer that is to use "CheckoutFree" which will give me the game for free off the website, but there's a catch: I have to "try or buy" another product. Is there anyone who has used "CheckoutFree" before who could tell me if I can just "try" another product rather than actually buy it? I want this game really badly! Here's the site: http://www.shockwave.com/home.jsp Here's the game I want: http://www.shockwave.com/gamelanding/clueclassic.jsp Oh, also. If you know a different site with a safe Clue download, let me know :p !
Who thinks MLB should incorporate instant replay to review calls? I just saw a play during the yankee game, where Seattle player, willie bloomquist, was clearly out at 2nd by 2 ft. and the umpire called him safe!? Because of this, Seattle scored the tying run right after that play with two outs and ended up winning the game. I was really angry. Instant replay can be used in other plays as well such as if a ball is foul or fair, a home run or not (b/c of foul pole), if a player check swung or not, and maybe even balls or strikes( if clearly miscalled). If baseball had instant replay, than all of these situations could be solved.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? HEY I NEED ONE MORE PARAGRAPH THE CONCLUSION AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO IT WHILE BEING INTERESTING ALSO IF U COULDGIVE UR OIPINIONS ON THE ESSAY THANKYOU Every kid deserves to live with a family who can support them. Unfortunately, this cannot always come true and happen. However, with adoption more and more children get adopted by wonderful families every year. Adoption is when a kid is brought to another family through legal acts. Adoption is helpful and positive for the birth parents, the adoptive parents, and the children. Wouldn’t you want your child to live with someone who will be able to support and love them? Not all families have enough money to support themselves. It also becomes a bigger issue when there are children to be taken care of. A lot of money is needed to raise a child. Even though, it is hard for the birth parents to give their children up for adoption they know that it is best for the child. To make it easier and better, the birth parents could choose their child’s adoptive parents. Before someone could adopt a child, there are many background checks, home visits by inspectors, and reviews of medical records so that the birth parents could know that their child is going to live in a safe location. Frequently, the birth and adoptive parents have contact with each other, helping the birth parents know who will be their child’s new parents. Birth parents do not have regrets of this decision because they know that their child will be in a loving position. Everyone always wants to grow up and have a family. But as we all know, not everyone could have kids. Because of adoptions, thousands of couples and people could have children and start their family, having their dreams come true. Another benefit of adopting a child would be learning about other cultures. Many kids that are adopted are from other countries, and most adoptive parents enjoy learning the traditions and customs of their new child. Adoption changes a child’s life in many encouraging ways. It allows children to be able to grow and live in an environment that is well. Being adopted could allow a child to have in good education and a healthy lifestyle; whereas, if a child was growing up in an environment that the parents could not support the child, the child could be influenced in negative ways. Siblings are usually adopted together, so they will not be separated. Children with special needs and conditions are also adopted, and not left out. The children are also aware of their origin and nationality; their adoptive parents do not leave those important facts out of their lives. Sometimes people think adoption is a cruel act to do because the children are separated from their birth parents, but the birth parents are putting their children in adoption because they know it is best for the child. In addition, people become pregnant unexpectedly and they are not ready to have a child. Sometimes people consider abortion, but that is not fair for the reason that everyone deserves a life, so adoption is the best option for the child. In most situations, the birth parents still have a connection with their child. Another reason for thinking that adoption is a bad decision is because people do not know the adoptive parents. However, the birth parents are allowed to choose who the adoptive parents will be, and the adoption parents have to go through many tests so it would be sure that they are capable for adopting a child. Many people who give their child up for adoption are seen as bad people, but they are doing a huge favor for their child. It is very hard for a mother to give up her son or daughter, but they know the child will appreciate it. The outcomes of adoption are positive, and there are no negative sides of this action.
Window guards? Has anyone ever used these? Are they reliable? I am planning on getting a few for my windows at home. We live on the third floor of an apartment building and I just don't feel my daughter is safe (she's 2). Just asking for your reviews on these things. Is there a certain kind I should get...and so on. Thanks!! My windows open up and down.
Is the Anolon Bronze cookware dishwasher-safe? I'm trying to set up a home in the states from online shopping, and like the price/reviews of Anolon Bronze, but haven't seen if this collection is dishwasher safe. I am a busy woman and really don't think I'll end up hand-washing, thus would prefer a dishwasher-safe alternative. Please advise!
Can I sue my landlord for slander, libel, and get restitution for pain and suffering? I was served a 10 day notice for which I immediately complied. My landlord gave me an eviction notice anyway. Between my compliance and before the eviction notice, I was called a liar by the apartment management on more than one occasion. I was carelessly accused of doing things I did not do, based on information they distorted to meet their accusations. The management also discussed my situation with other tenants, which resulted in neighbors behaving rude to me and shunning me. This happened the day before Thanksgiving, and almost displaced me and my 8 month old daughter. I am a single mother, a student, living on very low income, and located across the country from my family while I am attending school. All of this happened during the holidays. I was unable to go home for the holidays because I was afraid I would come back and find I was homeless. I requested a hearing because I knew I had done nothing wrong, and had been harrassed by neighbors and the management about situations that I had no part in, and that were totally out of my control. I was accused of being involved in circumstances that I was not aware were happening. The stress and anxiety this caused was tremendous. I lost weight and was kept from my family at a very important time. I secured documentation and proof that the apartment management was wrong in their accusations, and documented by time and date every situation that took place in their assault on me and my character. I have written documentation where they accused my of lying, as well as several occasions when they attacked me verbally. I also had a neighbor yelling at me at my doorstep because of things she heard through the management grapevine. After writing letters to supervisors and securing an attorney, and providing my attorney with all the documentation, the management decided not to proceed with the eviction. This whole ordeal was happening as I was trying to complete finals, and secure part time employment before Christmas. I have never been so exhausted and frightened in my life. I did have a great support team or I would have not survived the grueling experience, and believe I would have been evicted. Even the first attorney I spoke with said I should just "move", without really reviewing my documentation. Now that I know my daughter will still have a home and a safe place to live, I want to know if I have any recouse to sue those that created this unnecessary nightmare in my life? Can you give me any idea what legal recouse I might have? AP My question was very clear without relaying specific details. At this point what difference does it make what they yaccused me of lying about. The fact is, I didn't lie and I proved it. They called me names, and I have proof of that. They discussed this situation with tenants, which were not correct facts. It shouldn't matter what the topics are. I am hesitant to share information, as I am considering a lawsuit, but briefly: I have a no contact order against someone that was apparently seen at my doorfront when I was at school. I was accused of having him in my home when this was not true. I proved I was no where near my apartment when this occured. The landlord found this person in my neighbors apartment, which was unknown to me. This person has been in jail because of his violent nature regarding me. Each time I was aware of this persons presence, I reported it to the police, which is documented. He was put in jail twice.

Chapter one of my book: Just a Dream Please review? I just completed my first chapter so far, please let me know how I did: Bella jumped up off her queen-sized fluffy bed. She rose, very slowly, streching as she stood up onto the hardwood floor. Who was that man? He was so gorgeous so absolutely perfect, but was he even real? "It was just a dream"Bella whispered, disappointment stinging her words. "Better start getting up and ready", Bella sighed. Despite her busy morning of making her pink satin bed, changing into her red and pink laced corset which showed her beautful curves and changing into the denim blue hip huggers, which would make any man cry at the sight of her, she couldn't shake off the feeling that took her over. Bella's heart felt as if someone was tearing her to peices. A slow painful torture that did not cease to end. Her entire body ached, her veins felt like they were pooring acid inside her, her body burned. She could not scream nor plead for mercy, she didn't even know what was happening to her! "Maybe I'd better take a walk", Bella softly said to herself. She tried to fight the large, lump that was pushing against her throat, she wanted to cry but what reason did she have to cry? Nothing happend to her, just a dream that was too good to end. She tried to blink back the tears but they fell down her face anyway. She wiped them off with the back of her hand. Am I going insane? Bella wondered. She placed a black sweater over her corset, despite it was Spring, it was still a bit chilly, she grabbed her cell phone and walked out the front door of her home and locked it behind her. Bella began to slowly stride into the deep, lush-green forest ahead of her. She noticed the pine trees and shrubs that now came to life after a long Winter had finally ended, the lovely smell of the earth, the gorgeous out line of the sun on the plants and ground. She began to relax. "Bella we're serious losing our sanity aren't we?" She laughed. It had been six months since the death of her parents, she was only seventeen, and yet she lived as an adult would, she had a job as an CNA, she had one barn but no horse , being the fact right now she could not afford that. Bella thought of her mother's face, the lovely ocean blue eyes that would make any one shiver, the beautful red hair that she had gotten from her, Karen Defort, she thought that beautiful name that now was just that, there was no soul to walk around and claim that name. Something distracted her thoughts, a very spine tingling chill, not only that awful feeling, but it was as if someone had their eyes looking over her. She noticed a large, reddish colored, wolf slowly approach her, he now was so close to her she could touch his head. His mouth turned to a sneer the red eyes staring her down. Bella could not move, fear had frozen her in place. Her mind was froze, she couldnt think, nor breathe, nor blink, or smell, or hear except for the loud snarling that came from the wolf. Before Bella could even escape, the wolf had her on the ground, his teeth just inches from her neck. Life was about to end, was what Bella believed maybe it would solve all of the pain she felt not only because of her mother's death but also because of the emotional scars that was left after having her abusive, now ex-boyfriend, thrown in jail on countless charges. Would she ever be whole again? That didn't matter now her life was about to end right before her eyes. The wolf now transformed into a man a very disturbing man, his skin was pale, to the point it was transluscent, his eyes were a blood red color and his face was of a killer, he was no normal gentleman. His smile showed all of his white teeth and two large fangs. He was tall but not as tall as the man in her dreams. His hair stood up in large reddish orange spikes. "Hi there", he snarled. "H-h-hi", Bella stammered back. She tried to move but her legs just would not do it,it was as if they were numb. "Oh, are you scared?", he smiled, obvious that the fact enlightened him. "Well let me introudce myself, I am Slade, and I'm going to take your life away, but dont worry it'll hurt for a second, a long second that is, the insanity from the pain will numb you before you even realise your time is up!", he retorted. He lowered more closer to her neck, half an inch away. But before any pain could even register, the world turned black on Bella. She heard a scream but it was not her own, she heard flesh being torn, she heard someone else's voice that was not Slade's own nor hers. Then it hit her, she fell under a deep sleep. The next time Bella woke up she was on a bed, it wasn't her own. Where was she? This was not her house the walls were a deep red almost golden colored in a way. The room was beautiful the lovely black satin sheets, the long flowing canopy that covered the bed, and the beautiful wooden furniture a dresser, a desk with a laptop on it, and a large flat screen TV that sat in front of of the bed . Suddenly, someone knocked. "Come in!", Bella said. "Hey there, sunshine how are you doing?", the man smiled. He was so so beautiful, his long brown hair flowed gracefully down his shoulders, to his muscular stomach. His skin was pale but not like Slade's was, his beautiful brown eyes full of warmth and joy, and his beautiful luscous lips, and finally, his voice the sweet, mesmerising song that danced from his mouth. That's when she realised it, it was him! The same man in her dreams! "I'm great thank you for asking!", Bella grinned. "Let me introuduce myself to you, it was horribly rude of me not to, I'm Jasper Deliente and you just were rescued from a very malicious vampire", Jasper exclaimed. "My name is Bella, it's very nice to meet you", Bella grinned and shook his hand but as she did she yanked it away suddenly in vicious, tormenting pain. "Ouch it hurts it hurts make it stop!", Bella cried. "Shh, calm down it's alright hang on, now dont flip out please I don't want to scare you", Jasper instructed as he took her hand, his teeth prying around the two holes on her arm he began to gently suck out the black poison that would have sealed Bella's fate, if it was not taken care of early. As Jasper did this, heat rushed through her, her blood boiled, her skin danced at his touch, it was warm and gentle it made her tingle inside. She wanted to feel this way forever without end. "You are safe now, Bella it's all gone", Jasper smiled. "How did you find me?", Bella asked. Jasper wanted to tell her the truth, his soul screamed to but he could not, not yet, not until she was more sane to comprehend. "I heard you scream, how did you even find him anyhow?", Jasper responded. "I went for a walk to, clear my hand if you will, and I saw this wolf and it had me pinned and before I could actually move the wolf turned into that vampire", Bella replied, chosing the words carefully. Did vampires really exist? If so what was Jasper, he certainly was no human, he was too tall all six foot seven of him, and his voice was like an angels, when he walked he looked so graceful almost like he was rollerskateing except there was no rollerskates attached to his feet. " I think you've had enough to endure for one day, I'll tell you more about me as we get closer, that is if you want, and if not I understand", Jasper instructed. "Sure I'd love to be your friend I don't mind, just please know that I have been through alot and trust is going to take some time for me to build", Bella warned. "I understand, we'll let's get you home, shall we?" Jasper smiled. "Thanks for saving me", Bella said, as Jasper hugged her, before tucking her into her bed at home safe, it was so hard not to let go and Bella didn't understand why.It was midnight now, the night was was chilly. "You're welcome", was all Bella heard before she went back to bed at midnight...
Bush knew Hurricane Katrina's devestating effects before storm hit New Orleans. How can we impreach him? March 1, 2006 Video Shows Bush Was Warned Before Katrina By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS WASHINGTON (AP)—In dramatic and sometimes agonizing terms, federal disaster officials warned President Bush and his homeland security chief before Hurricane Katrina struck that the storm could breach levees, put lives at risk in New Orleans' Superdome and overwhelm rescuers, according to confidential video footage. Bush didn't ask a single question during the final briefing before Katrina struck on Aug. 29, but he assured soon-to-be-battered state officials: "We are fully prepared." The footage—along with seven days of transcripts of briefings obtained by The Associated Press—show in excruciating detail that while federal officials anticipated the tragedy that unfolded in New Orleans and elsewhere along the Gulf Coast, they were fatally slow to realize they had not mustered enough resources to deal with the unprecedented disaster. Linked by secure video, Bush's confidence on Aug. 28 starkly contrasts with the dire warnings his disaster chief and a cacophony of federal, state and local officials provided during the four days before the storm. A top hurricane expert voiced "grave concerns" about the levees and then-Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael Brown told the president and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that he feared there weren't enough disaster teams to help evacuees at the Superdome. "I'm concerned about ... their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe," Brown told his bosses the afternoon before Katrina made landfall. Some of the footage and transcripts from briefings Aug. 25-31 conflicts with the defenses that federal, state and local officials have made in trying to deflect blame and minimize the political fallout from the failed Katrina response: —Homeland Security officials have said the "fog of war" blinded them early on to the magnitude of the disaster. But the video and transcripts show federal and local officials discussed threats clearly, reviewed long-made plans and understood Katrina would wreak devastation of historic proportions. "I'm sure it will be the top 10 or 15 when all is said and done," National Hurricane Center's Max Mayfield warned the day Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast. "I don't buy the `fog of war' defense," Brown told the AP in an interview Wednesday. "It was a fog of bureaucracy." —Bush declared four days after the storm, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees" that gushed deadly flood waters into New Orleans. But the transcripts and video show there was plenty of talk about that possibility—and Bush was worried too. White House deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco and Brown discussed fears of a levee breach the day the storm hit. "I talked to the president twice today, once in Crawford and then again on Air Force One," Brown said. "He's obviously watching the television a lot, and he had some questions about the Dome, he's asking questions about reports of breaches." —Louisiana officials angrily blamed the federal government for not being prepared but the transcripts shows they were still praising FEMA as the storm roared toward the Gulf Coast and even two days afterward. "I think a lot of the planning FEMA has done with us the past year has really paid off," Col. Jeff Smith, Louisiana's emergency preparedness deputy director, said during the Aug. 28 briefing. It wasn't long before Smith and other state officials sounded overwhelmed. "We appreciate everything that you all are doing for us, and all I would ask is that you realize that what's going on and the sense of urgency needs to be ratcheted up," Smith said Aug. 30. Mississippi begged for more attention in that same briefing. "We know that there are tens or hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana that need to be rescued, but we would just ask you, we desperately need to get our share of assets because we'll have people dying—not because of water coming up, but because we can't get them medical treatment in our affected counties," said a Mississippi state official whose name was not mentioned on the tape. Video footage of the Aug. 28 briefing, the final one before Katrina struck, showed an intense Brown voicing concerns from the government's disaster operation center and imploring colleagues to do whatever was necessary to help victims. "We're going to need everything that we can possibly muster, not only in this state and in the region, but the nation, to respond to this event," Brown warned. He called the storm "a bad one, a big one" and implored federal agencies to cut through red tape to help people, bending rules if necessary. "Go ahead and do it," Brown said. "I'll figure out some way to justify it. ... Just let them yell at me." Bush appeared from a narrow, windowless room at his vacation ranch in Texas, with his elbows on a table. Hagin was sitting alongside him. Neither asked questions in the Aug. 28 briefing. "I want to assure the folks at the state level that we are fully prepared to not only help you during the storm, but we will move in whatever resources and assets we have at our disposal after the storm," the president said. A relaxed Chertoff, sporting a polo shirt, weighed in from Washington at Homeland Security's operations center. He would later fly to Atlanta, outside of Katrina's reach, for a bird flu event. One snippet captures a missed opportunity on Aug. 28 for the government to have dispatched active-duty military troops to the region to augment the National Guard. Chertoff: "Are there any DOD assets that might be available? Have we reached out to them?" Brown: "We have DOD assets over here at EOC (emergency operations center). They are fully engaged. And we are having those discussions with them now." Chertoff: "Good job." In fact, active duty troops weren't dispatched until days after the storm. And many states' National Guards had yet to be deployed to the region despite offers of assistance, and it took days before the Pentagon deployed active-duty personnel to help overwhelmed Guardsmen. The National Hurricane Center's Mayfield told the final briefing before Katrina struck that storm models predicted minimal flooding inside New Orleans during the hurricane but he expressed concerns that counterclockwise winds and storm surges afterward could cause the levees at Lake Pontchartrain to be overrun. "I don't think any model can tell you with any confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not but that is obviously a very, very grave concern," Mayfield told the briefing. Other officials expressed concerns about the large number of New Orleans residents who had not evacuated. "They're not taking patients out of hospitals, taking prisoners out of prisons and they're leaving hotels open in downtown New Orleans. So I'm very concerned about that," Brown said. Despite the concerns, it ultimately took days for search and rescue teams to reach some hospitals and nursing homes. Brown also told colleagues one of his top concerns was whether evacuees who went to the New Orleans Superdome—which became a symbol of the failed Katrina response—would be safe and have adequate medical care. "The Superdome is about 12 feet below sea level.... I don't know whether the roof is designed to stand, withstand a Category Five hurricane," he said. Brown also wanted to know whether there were enough federal medical teams in place to treat evacuees and the dead in the Superdome. "Not to be (missing) kind of gross here," Brown interjected, "but I'm concerned" about the medical and mortuary resources "and their ability to respond to a catastrophe within a catastrophe."
I am so pissed!? Ok, well recently I said that my sisters blew off school to come stay with me and anyways I drove them down. When I got there the C.A.S was already there saying they wanted to put my sisters in so called "safe" homes. I told them that was a bad idea. After reviewing medical stuff, trust me abuse and foster care is expected. So anyways now it was either a foster care or me taking in my 4 sisters! So I am really mad cause those were both really bad options. My best friend that I share the apartment with is ok with it. The 15, and the 16 year old share a room, the 14 and 12 year old get the futon beds in the living room until we can sort of clean up the computer room for them. I know I have a right to be pissed. What can I expect with my sisters? They are staying with me now, and it will be 2 weeks till the 12 and 14 year old have a proper room. Little Help. I have already gave them rules and chores to follow and do. Anyone got ideas? If it helps on top of the list I have required the 15 and 16 year olds to work to try and help take care of any entertainment for the 4 of them.
Can we get news source citations for White House press releases to discern good PR from propaganda? http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/nationalsecurity/ President Bush Addresses CENTCOM Coalition Conference "Our main enemy is al Qaeda and its affiliates. Their allies choose their victims indiscriminately. They murder the innocent to advance a focused and clear ideology. They seek to establish a radical Islamic caliphate, so they can impose a brutal new order on unwilling people, much as Nazis and communists sought to do in the last century. This enemy will accept no compromise with the civilized world. Here is what the al Qaeda charter says about those who oppose their plans: 'We will not meet them halfway, and there will be no room for dialogue with them.' These enemies have embraced a cult of death. They are determined to bring days of even greater destruction on our people. They seek the world's most dangerous weapons. Against this kind of enemy, there is only one effective response: We must go on the offense, stay on the offense, and take the fight to them." President George W. Bush May 1, 2007 America and Our Allies Are Working Together to Keep Our Nations Safe On Tuesday, May 1, 2007, President Bush Addressed The CENTCOM Coalition Conference At MacDill Air Force Base In Tampa, Florida. America is joined in the fight against terrorists by more than 90 nations, including every country represented in the CENTCOM Coalition. The work of these countries has helped liberate millions of people, has kept brutal enemies on the defensive, and has helped keep millions of our citizens safe. •Currently, 64 Nations Have Military Representatives Assigned To The CENTCOM Headquarters. CENTCOM is one of nine Defense Department Unified Combatant Commands assigned operational control of U.S. combat forces. Its area of responsibility includes Iraq and Afghanistan as well as: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen, and the northwestern Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and Arabian Gulf. America And Our Allies Are Working Together To Address The Dangers Of Our Time An Era Of New Threats Requires New Forms Of Engagement, So We Have Reinvigorated Historic Alliances, Such As NATO, And Formed New And Dynamic Coalitions To Address The Dangers Of Our Time. Our broad Coalition has protected millions of people. We have worked to stop the spread of dangerous weapons, and we have taken the fight to the enemy where they live, so we do not have to face them where we live. •Working Together, America And Our Allies Have Shared Intelligence That Has Helped Thwart Many Terrorist Plots. oWe uncovered and stopped terrorist conspiracies targeting embassies in Yemen and Singapore and ships in the Straits of Hormuz and Gibraltar. oWe stopped a Southeast Asian terror cell grooming operatives for terrorist attacks and an al-Qaeda cell seeking to develop anthrax. oBritish authorities disrupted a plot to blow up aircraft flying over the Atlantic toward the United States. •Coalition Forces Have Captured Or Killed Key Leaders Of Terrorist Networks. oPhilippine forces killed top leaders of an al-Qaeda affiliate. oSpanish police captured fugitives wanted in connection with the Madrid train bombings. oTerrorist cells have been broken up by countries including Britain, Canada, Denmark, Italy, France, Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Turkey. •America And Our Allies Have Shut Down Funding Channels And Frozen Terrorist Assets, Making It Harder For Our Enemies To Finance Attacks, Purchase Weapons, And Train Recruits. The international community through the United Nations has imposed measures to identify terrorist financiers and prevent them from using international financial systems to fund acts of terror. •America And Our Allies Are Training Local Forces To Conduct Counterterrorism Activities In Their Own Regions. oWe are helping key nations – including Indonesia, the Philippines, and Yemen – stop terrorists from establishing safe havens inside their borders. oThe Trans-Sahara Counterterrorism Partnership provides counterterrorism and military assistance to Chad, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and Tunisia. oThe East Africa Counterterrorism Initiative provides border security and police training to Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Uganda. •Our Coalition Is Taking Steps To Stop Terrorists From Obtaining The World's Most Dangerous Weapons. More than 80 nations have joined the Proliferation Security Initiative and are working to stop shipments of materials related to weapons of mass destruction on land, at sea, and in the air. •America And Other Nations Have Acted Boldly To Confront Adversaries Who Threatened International Security. In Afghanistan, Coalition forces drove the Taliban from power, removed al-Qaeda training camps, and helped bring freedom to 25 million people. Our Coalition Is Going On The Offense Against The Taliban And Its Al-Qaeda Allies In Afghanistan Since Their Liberation, The Afghan People Have Made Enormous Strides. Afghans chose the first democratically-elected President in their history and held free elections for a National Assembly. The Afghan economy has doubled in size, and more than 4.6 million Afghan refugees have come home in one of the largest return movements in history. The Taliban And Its Al-Qaeda Allies Are Actively Working To Undermine This Progress And Reclaim Power, And Our Coalition – Led By NATO – Is Going On The Offense Against Them. Coalition and Afghan forces have conducted dozens of operations over the past few months to go after the enemy in their strongholds, including an operation launched this week targeting the Taliban in Helmand Province in the South. We have seized dozens of caches of weapons, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices, and we are making progress in training the growing Afghan National Army. •At Least 20 Other Nations Are Supporting Efforts To Rebuild Afghanistan. The United States appreciates these contributions, and we will stand with our partners and the Afghan people until our work is done. We Are Also Committed To Winning The Fight In Iraq After An Extensive Review, President Bush Ordered A New Strategy In Iraq And Appointed General David Petraeus To Carry That Strategy Out. This new strategy recognizes that our top priority must be to help the Iraqi government secure its capital so they can make political and economic progress. The Iraqis cannot yet do this on their own, so the President ordered reinforcements to help Iraqis secure their population, go after those inciting sectarian violence, and get their capital under control. •This Strategy Is Still In Its Early Stages, Yet At This Early Hour, We Are Seeing Some Signs That Give Us Hope. Some of the reinforcements General Petraeus requested have not yet arrived in Baghdad, and he believes it will take months before we can accurately gauge the strategy's potential for success. Yet at this early hour: oCoalition forces have captured a number of key terrorist leaders who are providing information about how al-Qaeda operates in Iraq. oCoalition forces have stopped a car bomb network, which had killed many citizens of Baghdad, and they have destroyed major car bomb factories. oThere has been a decline in sectarian violence. oIn some areas of the capital, Iraqis are returning to their neighborhoods with an increased feeling of security. •Success In Iraq Is Critical To The Security Of Free People Everywhere. Terrorists continue to unleash horrific acts of violence in Iraq, and al-Qaeda is playing a major role. Last week, General Petraeus called al-Qaeda "probably public enemy number one" in Iraq and said that al-Qaeda has made Iraq "the central front of their global campaign." America Is Deeply Grateful For The Contributions Of Nations Supporting Operations In Iraq. Today, more than 30 nations are supporting operations in Iraq. Seventeen NATO nations have contributed forces or been part of the NATO Training Mission to help train Iraqis, and Georgia also recently decided to contribute 2,000 troops. America joins in honoring the Coalition troops who have been killed in Iraq and the others who have been wounded in combat. America Is Also Grateful For The Increasing Contributions International Organizations Are Making To Iraq's Stability. •On May 3, the United Nations will host a conference in Egypt to sign an International Compact for Iraq. This agreement will bring new economic assistance in exchange for greater economic reform in Iraq. On May 4, Iraq's neighbors will meet to discuss ways to promote political reconciliation in Iraq. These meetings will be attended by Secretary Rice and senior officials from the G-8 nations. Iran and Syria have been invited to attend.

Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days: Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing." On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation. Education & Employment Training 1. Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act. 2. Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education. 3. Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools. (Blocked in the Senate.) 4. Requires school-by-school accountability report cards. 7. Established a $2.4 billion fund to help states implement teacher accountability systems. 8. Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to become teachers. Environment & Energy 1. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. 2. Submitted a comprehensive Energy Plan (awaits Congressional action). The plan works to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy, improve national grid, etc. 3. Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives. 4. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops. 5. Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger. 6. Part of national forests cleanup: Restricted judicial challenges (based on the Endangered Species Act and other challenges), and removed the need for an Environmental Impact Statement before removing fuels/logging to reduce fire danger. 7. Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California. 8. Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species. Defense & Foreign Policy 1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom. 2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured. 3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaeda leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror. 4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed. 5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Has cut off much of the terrorists' funding, and captured or killed many key leaders of the al Qaeda network. 6. Initiated a comprehensive review of our military, which was completed just prior to 9/11/01, and which accurately reported that ASYMMETRICAL WARFARE capabilities were critical in the 21st Century. 7. Killed the old US/Soviet Union ABM Treaty that was preventing the U.S. from deploying our ABM defenses. 8. Has been one of the strongest, if not THE strongest friend Israel has ever hand in the U.S. presidency. 9. Part of the coalition for an Israeli/Palestinian "Roadmap to Peace," along with Great Britain, Russia and the EU. 10. Pushed through THREE raises for our military. Increased military pay by more than $1 billion a year. 11. Signed the LARGEST nuclear arms reduction in world history with Russia. 12. Started withdrawing our troops from Bosnia, and has announced withdrawal of our troops from Germany and the Korean DMZ. 13. Prohibited putting U.S. troops under U.N. command. 14. Paid back UN dues only in return for reforms and reduction of U.S. share of the costs. 15. Earmarked at least 20 percent of the Defense procurement budget for next-generation weaponry. 16. Increased defense research and development spending by at least $20 billion from fiscal 2002 to 2006. 17. Ordered a comprehensive review of military weapons and strategy. 18. Ordered a review of overseas deployments. 19. Ordered renovation of military housing. The military has already upgraded about 10 percent of its inventory and expects to modernize 76,000 additional homes this year. 20. Is working to tighten restrictions on military-technology exports. 21. Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without any bribes or bloodshed. Globalization & Internationalism 1. Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant). 2. Killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court. 3. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).* 4. The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. He said: "The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations, and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer. 5. Told the Congress and the world, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country." Government Reform 1. Improved government efficiency by putting hundreds of thousands of jobs put up for bid. This weakens public-sector unions and cuts undeserved pay raises. 2. Initiated review of all federal agencies with the goal of eliminating federal jobs (completed September 2003) in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government while increasing private sector jobs. 3. Led the most extensive reorganization the Federal bureaucracy in over 50 years: After 9/11, condensed 20+ overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors into one agency, the Department of Homeland Security.* 4. Ordered each agency to draft a five-year plan to restructure itself, with fewer managers. 5. Converted federal service contracts to performance-based contracts wherever possible so that the contractor has measurable performance goals. Health 1. Strengthen the National Health Service Corps to put more physicians in the neediest areas, and make its scholarship funds tax-free. 2. Double the research budget of the National Institutes of Health. 3. Signed Medicare Reform, which includes: A 10-year privatization option. Prescription drug benefits: Prior to this reform, Medicare paid for extended hospital stays for ulcer surgery, for example, at a cost of about $28,000 per patient. Yet Medicare would not pay for the drugs that eliminate the cause of most ulcers, drugs that cost about $500 a year. Now, drug coverage under Medicare will allow seniors to replace more expensive surgeries and hospitalizations with less expensive prescription medicine. More health care choices: As President Bush stated, "…when seniors have the ability to make choices, health care plans within Medicare will have to compete for their business by offering higher quality service [at lower cost]. For the seniors of America, more choices and more control will mean better health care. These are the kinds of health care options we give to the members of Congress and federal employees. What's good for members of Congress is also good for seniors. New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, that means you'll save between 10 to 35 percent on any costs covered by money in your account. Every year, the money not spent would stay in the account and gain interest tax-free, just like an IRA. These accounts will be good for small business owners, and employees. More businesses can focus on covering workers for major medical problems, such as hospitalization for an injury or illness. At the same time, employees and their families will use these accounts to cover doctors visits, or lab tests, or other smaller costs. Some employers will contribute to employee health accounts. This will help more American families get the health care they need at the price they can afford. Homeland Security, Border Enforcement & Immigration 1. *See Government Reform above. Under President Bush's leadership, America has made an unprecedented commitment to homeland security. 2. Has CONSTRUCTION in process on the first 10 ABM silos in Alaska so that America will have a defense against North Korean nukes. Has ordered national and theater ballistic missile defenses to be deployed by 2004. 3. Announced a 9.7% increase in government-wide homeland security funding in his FY 2005 budget, nearly tripling the FY 2001 levels (excluding the Department of Defense and Project BioShield). 4. Before DHS was created, there were inspectors from three different agencies of the Federal Government and Border Patrol officers protecting our borders. Through DHS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now consolidates all border activities into a single agency to create "one face at the border." This not only better secures the borders of the United States, but it also eliminates many of the inefficiencies that occurred under the old system. With over 18,000 CBP inspectors and 11,000 Border Patrol agents, CBP has 29,000 uniformed officers on our borders. 5. The Border Patrol is continuing installation of monitoring devices along the borders to detect illegal activity. 6. Launched Operation Tarmac to investigate businesses and workers in the secure areas of domestic airports and ensure immigration law compliance. Since 9/11, DHS has audited 3,640 businesses, examined 259,037 employee records, arrested 1,030 unauthorized workers, and participated in the criminal indictment of 774 individuals. 7. Since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has conducted more than 124,000 port security patrols, 13,000 air patrols, boarded more than 92,000 vessels, interdicted over 14,000 individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally, and created and maintained more than 90 Maritime Security Zones. 8. Announced the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an internet-based system that is improving America's ability to track and monitor foreign students and exchange visitors. Over 870,000 students are registered in SEVIS. Of 285 completed field investigations, 71 aliens were arrested. 9. This week, the US-VISIT program began to digitally collect biometric identifiers to record the entry and exit of aliens who travel into the U.S on a visa. Together with the standard information, this new program will confirm compliance with visa and immigration policies. 10. Eliminated INS bureaucratic redundancies and lack of accountability. 11. Split the Immigration and Naturalization Service into two agencies: one to protect the border and interior, the other to deal with naturalization. 12. Signed the workplace verification bill to prevent hiring of illegal aliens. 13. Established a six-month deadline for processing immigration applications. 14. Information regarding nearly 100% of all containerized cargo is carefully screened by DHS before it arrives in the United States. Higher risk shipments are physically inspected for terrorist weapons and contraband prior to being released from the port of entry. Advanced technologies are being deployed to identify warning signs of chemical, biological, or radiological attacks. Since September 11, 2001, hundreds of thousands of first responders across America have been trained to recognize and respond to the effects of a WMD attack. Judiciary & Tort Reform 1. Is urging federal liability reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits. 2. Killed the liberal ABA's unconstitutional role in vetting federal judges. The Senate is supposed to advise and consent, not the ABA. 3. Is nominating strong, conservative judges to the judiciary. 4. Supports class action reform bill which limits lawyer fees so that more settlement money goes to victims. Politics 1. His leadership resulted in Republican gains in the House and Senate, solidifying Republican control of both houses of Congress and the presidency. 2. Signed an EO enforcing the Supreme Court's Beck decision regarding union dues being used for political campaigns against individual's wishes. Second Amendment 1. Ordered Attorney General Ashcroft to formally notify the Supreme Court that the OFFICIAL U.S. government position on the 2nd Amendment is that it supports INDIVIDUAL rights to own firearms, and is NOT a Leftist-imagined "collective" right. 2. Signed TWO bills into law that arm our pilots with handguns in the cockpit. 3. Currently pushing for full immunity from lawsuits for our national gun manufacturers. 4. *See Globalization & Internationalism. Traditional Values, Compassion & Volunteerism 1. Endorses and promotes "The Responsibility Era." President Bush often speaks of the necessity of personal responsibility and civic volunteerism. He said, "In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else — to one in which every single American understands that he or she is responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself." 2. Started the USA Freedom Corps, the most comprehensive clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities ever offered. For the first time in history, Americans can enter geographic information about where they want to get involved, such as state or zip code, as well as areas of interest ranging from education to the environment, and they can access volunteer opportunities offered by more than 50,000 organizations across the country and around the world. 3. Established the The White House Office and the Centers for the Faith-Based and Community Initiative — located in seven Federal agencies. The faith-based initiative supports the essential work of these important organizations. The goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support, and face fewer bureaucratic barriers. Work focuses on at-risk youth, ex-offenders, the homeless and hungry, substance abusers, those with HIV/AIDS, and welfare-to-work families. 4. The White House released a guidebook fully describing the Administration's belief that faith-based groups have a Constitutionally-protected right to maintain their religious identity through hiring — even when Federal funds are involved. 5. Issued an EO implementing the Supreme Court's Olmstead ruling, which requires moving disabled people from institutions to community-based facilities when possible. 6. Increased funding for low-interest loan programs to help people with disabilities purchase devices to assist them. 7. Revised the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 rent subsidies to disabled people, permitting them to use up to a year's worth of vouchers to finance down payments on homes. HUD has started pilot programs in 11 states. 8. Committed US funds to purchase medicine for millions of men, women and children now suffering with AIDS in Africa. 9. Heeding the words of our own Declaration of Independence, the president laid out the non-negotiable demands of human dignity for all people everywhere. On January 29, 2002, he said, "No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity." As stated by the President, they are a virtual manifesto of conservative principles: Equal Justice Freedom of Speech Limited Government Power Private Property Rights Religious Tolerance Respect for Women Rule of Law
Can you review my poem? ...please? :)? A man walks in with slanted eyes ‘My fear of losing love’ he cries, ‘is lush a comrade for my sin of which I fuel with grim and gin. ‘She lay across my Judas bed when whirlpools stung right through my head. And though my eyes saw hooker face, behind them sat a rose and vase.’ So in ran night and rain and grey when all the doors were shut that day. His lips collide with sorrow’s pine and dance, ‘I need you, valentine.’ Ok... I guess you could say this is my first real poem... I write song lyrics, but they're pretty much never this sad... so yeah... tell me what you think :) If you don't understand something, let me know I think this pretty much explains the vague-ish parts for whoever doesn't get them - It’s about a man who desperately wants love, but hasn’t found it yet. In the second paragraph, the rose and vase refer to a really secure state of love... like, the rose is symbolic for love, and its vase is a kind of home, or a safe shelter... and he sees all that behind his eyes... so, in that paragraph, he’s with a hooker, and the whirlpools are his orgasms and emotional rushes in general, and even though he’s looking at a hooker, behind his eyes he’s pretending they’re in true love... does that make sense? The night and rain and grey part was meant to sound as if it was happening to the room he was in, but it’s actually about himself at the moment he’s telling all this... I kind of imagined him to be in a bar or something, and he’s having some kind of emotional break-down where everything’s just spilling out of him. So the night is kind of his dark mood in general, and the rain is him crying, and the grey is his sadness... but his “doors were shut” because he’s not actually opening himself up to them, he doesn’t know a single person there, he’s just desperate for release. His sin is how he takes his need for love out on hookers... and “valentine” isn’t the name of anyone, it’s a general reference to the fact that he needs his own valentine. Thanks :) ...i'm not sure if any of you are going to re-read this page, but in case you do... i know that a lot of it is vague, but i did that on purpose... i like the reader to be really stumped when the meaning isn't obvious and in-their-face, so they can figure it out themselves... that's why i put the meanings below the poem... alen, why didn't you like 'hooker'? i felt a bit hesitant about using that word, but it didn't really click why... do you think it's just too.. slang-ish? thankyou to everyone who's reviewed!!!! really, you guys are so sweet, i didn't think i'd get this much feedback... thankyou so much!! :) yash.... umm... no, i'm australian... why?
Can someone help me with my conclusion please!? Depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses are worldwide to be thought of diseases that are “just in the head”. Even if that is true the patients know they are sick and they need help by taking medication or just talking to someone (depending on the severity). Though some medicines and anti-depressants have side effects, going untreated can be dangerous, and there are alternatives for treatment. Mental illnesses are among the most common conditions affecting health today: One in five American adults suffers a diagnosable mental illness in any six month period. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, though, some 90 % of these people will improve or recover if they get treatment. Psychiatrists and other physicians treating mental illnesses have a wide variety of treatments available today to help them help their patients. Most often, psychiatrists will work with a new patient to construct a treatment plan that includes both psychotherapy and psychiatric medication. These medications--combined with other treatments such as individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and behavioral therapy or self-help groups--help millions each year to return to normal, productive lives in his or her communities, living at home with loved ones and, continuing his or her work. (HealthyPlace, 2009) Psychiatric researchers believe that people suffering from many mental illnesses have imbalances in the way his or her brain metabolizes certain chemicals, called neurotransmitters. Because neurotransmitters are the messengers the nerve cells use to communicate with one another, these imbalances may result in the emotional, physical and intellectual problems that mentally ill people suffer. New knowledge about how the brain functions has permitted psychiatric researchers to develop medications which can alter the way in which the brain produces stores and releases these neurotransmitter chemicals, alleviating the symptoms of the illness. (HealthyPlace, 2009) There is an uprising use of anti-depressants in teenagers, and adolescence. Some believe the use of these medications is dangerous to the younger people but there are far worse penalties such as suicide. Suicide is a major concern even though it is hard to tell who will in fact kill themselves or who is just severely depressed. There are characteristics that identify those that are at risk; social isolation, stressful life events such as the loss of a loved one, financial problems or job loss. Depression, bipolar disorder and acute schizophrenic episodes are also major risk factors, and suicide is often associated with alcohol, or substance abuse. A history of previous attempts or a family member who has committed suicide should ring alarm bells. More women attempt suicide, but men are significantly more likely to be successful. There are some side effects of the medicines doctors prescribe, but the good outweighs the bad. In this table are the common medications used for depression. Selective Serotonin Reuptake InhibitorsOther AntidepressantsTricyclic Antidepressants FluoxetineBuprorionDesipramine SertralineTrazadonImapramine Paroxetine VenlafaxineAmitriptyline NefazodoneMaprotiline Doxepin Notriptyline Amoxapine Trimipramine Most side effects only last a few weeks then go away. Side effects of anti depressants are; nausea, increased appetite, or weight gain, sexual side effects, fatigue, insomnia, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, agitation, restlessness, and anxiety; all which are treatable symptoms and are just a little hurdle when it comes to the recovery of depression. (MayoClinic, 2009) All anti depressants have warning labels. If he or she follow the instructions and be cautious of the warning signs they are safe. It is important that children have a thorough evaluation before he or she starts taking an antidepressant. This evaluation should include: A physical exam and a psychiatric exam by a psychiatrist, pediatrician or family doctor. The psychiatric evaluation should include: A detailed review of any potential risk factors a child may have that may make it more likely for him or her to engage in self-harm, an assessment of whether the child may have other mental illnesses such as anxiety disorders, attention-deficit or hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder, and an evaluation of whether there's a family history of mental illnesses or, suicide. (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2009) If one is still unsure about using prescription medication to treat mental illnesses there are alternatives such as herbal medication. The potential for treatment as well as increasing use of herbal medicine and psychiatric disorders patients wanting to use alternative treatment options have lead to the need for psychiatrists to become familiar with the effects of herbal medicines. Mental health professionals not only need to know what the herbs are but their contraindications, side effects and risks. Four of
please review my essay and let me know what the problems are or how to make it better.? I currently live in Clarksville, Tennessee. My family and I have lived there for about three years, before that I lived in another town outside of Nashville that was much smaller. Since moving to Clarksville I have noticed over the few years living there that the violence of the town has worsen. When we first got there the crime rate was not as bad as now. Almost every night on the news or in the paper and new crime has happened. This worries me because it puts my family at risk, also since my husband is in the military he is not at home. When he is gone I tend to worry more about crime happening around me. For instance just a couple of weeks ago I turned on the news and a man had been shot. He was found on a back road and the cop that stopped thought the man had been in a wreck. When the EMS arrived and got him out he had been shot in the head. All of this was less than two miles from my house. And it is not like I live in a bad area, I actually thought our neighborhood was safe and some what crime free. We have since sold that house and are moving, but it frightens me to know how close that was to my family. On another instance in broad daylight there was a random shooting at our local Wal-Mart killing a man. And finally this act of crime happened at a local drug store three men robbed an eighty year old woman at a drug store. They took her hostage and made her smoke crack then raped her. These are just a few senseless crimes that have happened since I have lived there. It scares me because it doesn’t matter who you are or what time of day, these things can happen. I worry when my husband is away that what if someone breaks in or when I am out alone with my son. Woman always seem to be a easy target for violence and it can happen to anyone. I don’t think there is a quick fix for ending all this high crime in our area. But maybe out community can come together and have more crime watching. The justice system could also be more harsh to these people comminting the crimes. If it’s this bad now what will it be like in another three years. If something is not done you can almost bet it will be worse.
Cardiac or Psychiatric review? ER scenario (Med students).? Jack is a 28 yr old sedentary male: pale, thin (non smoker) with a history of anxiety and unexplained chest pain and tachycardic events. He has had one event of SVT recorded on 24hr holter. All other events seen in ER have been sinus rhythm. He lives at home with his parents who care for him. He rarely goes out the home due to extreme fatigue, dizziness and a flu like feeling which he attributes to his 'condition'. He is not depressed and has been refered to the local mental health team who report he has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and associated Dysautonomia, (presumed to be due to inactivity). There is little on offer in terms of treatment - apart from a raised pulse of 90 sitting and a pronounced tachycardia upon standing, - all clinical observations are unremarkable. He has previously undergone an Angiogram in the past, which was normal. Before the procedure, Jack reported he felt rather 'freaked out' and a supine pulse of 120bpm was observed. Of note was the procedure was stopped half way through due to an inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) of 170bpm before LV could be assessed. He was given IV Midazolam as a sedative and the procedure stopped. The cardiologist at his previous Hospital feels confident Jack does not suffer from CHD due to his age, normal BP, saturation readings, no signs of oedema, normal diet. He does not wish to repeat the procedure for safety reasons. Jack is admitted to Hospital several months later at midnight following a complaint of sudden onset severe chest pain, shortness of breath and tachycardia. He reports he was not exerting at the time of onset and was simply ''sitting at his computer''. On admission, he appears nervous, keen to explain his symptoms in detail and wants to know 'when it will stop'. He sees a Doctor at approx 12.30 am as a priority 2 case. Supine his observations were as follows: ----------------------------------------------------------- Heart rate 135 bpm Blood pressure 169/142 Respiration rate 16 Sa 02 is 99% Peak flow reading 450 (predicted 640). Q Wave II & III changes are shown on ECG Chest clear: A/t = bilaterally Temp: 36.5 Awake & Orientated Complaint: --------------- C/O 'tight' chest pain centrally radiating to the back. Anxious ++ Diagnosis: --------------- Chest tightness, tachycardia & hypertensive on admission. Gradually settled. Given 5mg Diazepam (refused 10mg). Still appears anxious & describes symptoms of anxiety very well, but denies any psychiatric problem. ECG = Sinus tachycardia (I think Q wave was due to anxiety?). Refer to family doctor only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ QUESTION: Jack denies he is having a panic attack and insists he has a physical problem, despite admitting feeling very anxious due to his symptoms. He remains calm and polite, yet the medical staff are concerned at his diastolic readings which are abnormal and do not wish to discharge him until this has settled. 5mg Diazepam is given to Jack orally after his sustained hypertension and chest pain is observed for 30 mins in triage. He takes approximately 2 hours to feel calmer and report his chest pain has resolved. He says the medication has made him feel 'stoned and sleepy'. 30 mins later, his observations are: -------------------------------------------------- Heart rate 128 bpm Blood pressure is 138/85 The medical staff feel it is now safe to discharge Jack back home and feel a referral is un-necessary. He has been in Hospital triage - 2hrs 30 mins. In less than 300 words explain: ------------------------------------------------ A) If you refer him for Psychiatric or Cardiac Review before discharge. b) Note why you think Q waves changes are important in your decision. c) Diazepam reduced hypertension & chest pain in Jack. Why? d) Is there any real evidence of Ischemic pain in the absence of CHD? e) Is Jack presenting with an IST or a Tachycardia due to anxiety? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you - tough one, huh?!
how do I get my day in Court? To whom it may concern: I would like to open an case concerning the Death of our new born son on July 16th 2000. in this case I have investigated the records and all the alligations of the findings and all the answers given by depatment of Health and others that determined that there was nothing that could be done However I feel that this issue is not done and will not be done until the people and hospital is displined in a manner to not allow them to do this to another patent again. I really don't understand The Michigan AG can't do a thing I Cant understand why the Michigan dept's over health care that over see hospitals and Doctors can't do a thing when it is clear that Felony have been commited. I feel that due to Not haveing money to pay a High price lawyer to do this is why I can't get any thing done. Attorneys look at this and say it would cost to much to go after. Police Depts say they do not do this kind of crime. It is a Felony it is breaking laws. I have past all the Statue of limitions even on the feloneys that have been commited I feel this is wrong The Attending doctor just setteled another case 06/07/07 and is still doing his thing. where will this end. Laws Violated Alteration of medical record in the state of Michgan is a felony Section 750.492a section (1a) a health care provider who intentionally or willfully violates this subsection it guilty of a felony. Section 750.492a Section (3) A health care provider or other person shall not intentionally or willfully alter or destoyor direct another to alter or destroy a patient's medical records or charts for the purpose of concealing his or her responsibility for the patients injury, sickness, or death A health care provider who violates this subsection is guilty of a feloney. a person other than a health care provider who violates this subsection is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than a year, or a fine not more than $1000,00 or both . In the past investigation into this matter the investigator did not inquire or optain proff that the person that was stating the information was correct, as in the case were I alleged that gel was not used for the test performed on my wife concerning the audio doppler. The investigator asked a nurse specialist if this was true the nurse speacialist stated that sound can still be heard with out using the Gel. In which is against the medical standands due to the machine must be used the way the manufactured instruction say if it is not used in that manner a false or no information can be used due to the gel is the bond between the transducer and the skin. Further more This is not exceptable, We have come into the new age of medicine and to say it is ok to drive a car to its tops speed is safe is not what the law says or the manufacture. A car is to be driven the posted safe speed according to law. The use of medical equipment is to be used in the manner that the instructions says it is to be used and the maunufactures in all doppolars of this type state the same thing, they will not back the finding of anyone not using it in the way it was intended with the gel. Yet I am to understand that the state of michigan is going to back the people that I am makeing a complaint about with out consulthing the manufacturers Or the Medical standands that clearly state it must be used in the manner the instruction book says. Yet the state was told by the people I made th complaint against and took there word that was true. WHY? The altered records. The removal of any record by Doctor Dana Snell or the prevention of her making a record when she was the only medical staff to perform any medical test on the patient and the condition of the fetus before birth. Record 07/16/2000 08:40 Cecelia L Ross RN No FHR heard Dr Snell and Dr Nguyen called to confirm absence of FHR. 08:50 No fetal heart rate detected.pt. and husband informed. IV started and pt admitted to 1185. pt stated she felt last fetal movement yesterday at noon. 07/15/00 Now The above record is the only mention of Doctor Snell. Doctor Snell is not any where else in the records Yet, note that it says no FHR (fetal heart rate) heard. This is where the Gel was important. Doctor Snell did not use any Gel There for all that was heard was static. The PT and Father was notified we were there at the time the test was done, and This record has no mention of the vidieo ultrasound that was use by doctor Dana Snell and she stated out loud to my wife and I "I have a heart beat" pointing at the screen and showing use his heart beat. There is no record at all of Dr. Snell doing this. This was not done by doctor Phan Nguyen as reported in other records. It was a Black lady not an asian laday Also notes that the pt states she last felt fetal movement yesterday at Noon 07/15/00 My wife and I both told them that the last movment was at 01:00 am 07/16/00 at which time she was taking a bath and she called me in to see him moving. Other records recorded (Record 07/16/00 09:15 Dr Phan Gnuyen state that the pt stated she had not felt movement since yesterday morning.) These are attemps by the staff to fix the records to indicate that our son was dead at least 24 hours or more. when in fact we told them 5 to six hours when she took a bath after walking all day at the firemans carnival in clio. Not 12 to 24 hours. Record 07/16/00 09:15 Dr Phan Gnuyen state that the pt stated she had not felt movement since yesterday morning.Nurses couldn't get FHT's on monitor so U/S (bedside) was performed and confirmed no cardiac activeity, no fetal movment.) This person did not do this or any other test on my wife, No nurse did it and no one from radiology did it. it was done by Doctor Dana Snell. The Reason I am adoment about this is she has not made a record to this case and I feel she was not allowed to make a record of it due to she did find a fetal heart rate. When we had a meeting with the hospital on this matter we were told that Doctor Dana Snell did not exsist. there was no black lady that did any thing with my wife, This was told to us in a meeting on Aril 4 2001. attending that meeting was Doctor Larry Young our attending, Debbie Dutton OCNS, Sheila Hopson Social Worker, Greg Knuth Director of risk Management, Joyce Welman Patient rep,Dr Collins Pathology, My wife Amanda Johnson and Myself. We Wanted to know why a heart beat was pointed out and who the black lady was. A rep from radiolgy was called and there was no record found of that department getting any request for a ultrasound done that day for my wife. There was no record of any black lady any where yet I found her when I got the record and read each page looking up every thing I did not know. I Found Dana in the above record by nurse Ross at which time I called Genesys and ask if Dana Snell was a Black lady. I was told by the education dept. that she was and that she started on July 01 of 2000 16 days later she alone did the test on my wife Not even our attending checked my wife before the birth. and then she was removed from the records and the cover up began. Progress Record 07/16/000 9:40 Dr.Phan Nguyen P- (1) Official ultrasound This was not done not even ordered as stated in above the Rep from Radiology stated she never received any orders that day for Amanda Sny (Johnson). This is important due to if a Officail ultrasound would have been performed it would have ended any of this from being questioned. The ultrasound would have been recorded and a record made either way. We was shown a heart beat. they claimed none found. Yet again not done. Now you may say that there was not enough time Yet Dr. Larry Young had time to come from hurley hospital 14 miles away. Doctor Young never once did any test yet in a record he made he bagan to cover his not doing anything by placing this in the Records Progress Record 07/17/00 time ? Dr. larry Young Answer questions re u/s report & cord accident relationship. Emphasize (-) blame in Relationship to delay in.....arrival to hospital. Why would you try to emphasize on the time Well that was a problem as well You see he called and left a message about the u/s that was done on the 11th and he was concerned about IUGR How ever he did not get us so he left a message with a kid a child that to this day feels she killed Zack due to she did not get us the message that by the way was not said to be ergent and did not say to go to the hospital simply call your doctor. We did not here about this until he arrived at the hospital that sunday morning he told us he wanted to do a Emergecy C Section Yet did not state that to any one he called. Larry Young and Phan Nguyen worked together to cover everything they cold to say that our son was dead way befor arriving at the hospital and yet not one did a test to prove one way or another. The baby's Head was normal and the body was normal in size to relationship of his head there was no evidence in the autopsy report of IUGR Yet to look at the records you would think that the baby was way under normal weight. If in fact he would have gained weight to 40 weeks he would have been a large baby to deliver comming in around 9 lbs so what is wrong with this the cover is on going. Progress Record 07/16/000 9:40 Dr.Phan Nguyen P- (3) ? Autopsy (??) delivery , pt to decide . We never took time to decide about an autopsy we wanted it right from the time it was mentioned. This is important due to they knew we wanted it done and yet allowed the body to stay in the room from the time of delivery to 40 minutes after the discharge of the mother. Assesments/notes 15:40 07/17/00 Kathkeen M. Obrian, LPN Pathology states infant needs to go to the morgue. Infant taken to Securtity and they put infant in morge. Now in the records there was an attempt to say they had him in the Refrigerator. however he never left the room for more than time enough for us to smoke a Cigarette and they brought him back, the one time as we come down the hall past where they kept him and he was still in the crib and not in a refreigerator of any kind. at 01:18 it is Noted that the baby was in the room at 00:30 and ther was no notes made until 08:00 and a claim that the infant was in the refrigerator How ever he never left the room It claims that we requested him at 11:00 and the infant was wraped in a warm blacket and again I tell you he never was take during the night or that following day. again at 14:00 it states that infant was in the room and again at 15:40. as medical professional I hope I do not have to explain to you why allowing him to be in room temps was bad for the autopsy report. This was a way to alow time to pass and show that the baby was dead for a long period of time. If he would have been allowed a breif time with us and an autopsy performed there would not have been wide spread decay in his body the pooling of blood and the riga that was detected this is a clear and deliberate way to cover there allowing him to die and not saving him. Now in that time that he was in the room with us he we being held 90% of the time as recorded in the records 13:59, 21:30, 00:00, 00:30,14:00, being times that they noted us holding him Infact we both fell asleep with him on us at one time or another and this contributed to the misleading autopsy report and findings. Due to our body temps raising his and speeding up the decay prosess. The autopsy report is false in oth ways as well. at 00:30 I went to find a nurse to get clean clothing for our son. His body was covered in blood and feses. I could not find a nurse so I ended up cleaning him my self I cleaned the hard poop that was Black on his bottom and I cleaned all the Blood from His umbilical cord I only had one wash clothe and there for cleand both area the best I could with it. When cleaning the cord there was no lumps or cuts in the section that was left on his body. There for the part that had the cut in it was with the placenta. The Placenta was never sent to Michigan State University as requested and The hospital was sited for not doing so in the investigation. My point being How did they come up with the unbilical cord thromboise and ompahlecel. I asked Doctor Collins during the meeting about the umphacele and he stated there was partical of bowel found on the umbilical cord. as for the torsion an thrombois he did not want to talk about it. Doctor Larry Young Stated that the cut on the cord may have been cause by the figer nails of the baby. how ever later claimed he never told my wife and I that an there was no cut on the cord. Yet the Records indicate a 20% tear. progress record 07/16/00 10:5? am Doctor Larry Young *noted Cord ? 20% tear & Thrombois Can't make out the Rest of that Note Physicians Obstetrical Discharge summery Sign by Doctor nguyen and doctor Young excludes the 20% tear also. Michigan State Universty Cytogenetics laboratory Specmen intake form Larry Young Possible IUGR Thrombois Noted on cord and Umbilicas Note again no tear report but this time refers to two thrombois. And again Doctor Nguyen was not in the delivery at all. she was not present just Kimberly Oslund and Doctor Young. Yet the Records would indicate that Nguyen was present at the birth. The hospital bill also indicates that she was there charging twice for the delivery. That is Fraud. and another Felony .This also present a problem with Blood Why was her fluids Clear as indicated in the Records If the cord was torn there for blood would have to come out of a major bood supplie then why was her fluids not Red or pink I will tell you why the tear was done after his birth. Get a hose and turn the water on it and cut a 20% cut into the hose it will leak every time. Why was this not Reported in the autopsy report any where. I will tell I was there when he was born I did not see the cord cut I did not see any thing until the baby was cut loose from the placenta. Doctor Young held him up to me the first time I ever seen him He was Pink and doctor Young also showed me his cord and the cut in the cord. It was a strait clean cut. He was pink. This two things tell me that his cord was cut and he had a heart beat. However when I made a complaint the the State of Michigan the investigator again stated that my claim was unsubstaniated looking at the record and noting the Apgar Scores and the Dr. Stated that it was clear that the baby was dead. I Mad the complaint that not one person stuck a stethiscope on the baby to check for a heart beat. I was telling them that the Apgar scores were wrong and that they was false. in the Progress Records it was recorded 0'0'5 apgars. Labor & delivery Summery Kimberly A Oslund 1Minute 00000 5minuts 00000 These Reports are false due to never being done and were is Dr.Nguyen's Apagar scores for him I Notice she has signed for doing every thing else? How ever when the State asked Dr.Young if he stuck a stetiscope on Zack he avoided the question by saying it was odvias he was dead. Why are Democrats always putting up road blocks to prevent homeland security? The new Congress takes an old approach to homeland security. Members of Congress head home this week with precious little to show for their months of grandstanding on the Hill. However, as the clock counted down to August recess, lawmakers were able to get one “signature” bill off to the president, an act purporting to implement the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. Those hoping the bill would provide a clear strategic direction for homeland-security policy will find this “signature” as inscrutable as that of a drunken doctor writing in haste. But the bill does clearly show, however, that the way Congress “does” homeland security has changed significantly under it new Democratic leadership. That’s not to say that everything about the bill is wrong-headed. The so-called 9/11 bill includes several positives, embracing measures that homeland security experts have long advocated. Among these are provisions: Lowering the minimum amount of security grants that Washington must give each state. Unlike most of the bill’s provisions, this one actually was recommended by the 9/11 Commission, which was rightfully concerned that homeland security grants were becoming little more than vehicles for pork-barrel spending projects. This reform will allow the Department of Homeland Security to focus more money on the highest homeland security priorities. Requiring periodic strategic assessments similar to the Defense Department’s Quadrennial Defense Reviews. It makes sense to take time occasionally to review whether what’s being done is actually accomplishing anything useful. Promoting reform and encouraging a modest expansion in the Visa Waiver Program. Efforts to increase opportunities for America’s friends and allies to visit the U.S. while making terrorist travel more difficult are long overdue. Nor did the final bill include every bad idea incorporated in the original bills offered in the House and Senate. For example, bill conferees dropped a measure that would have expanded union rights over the Transportation Safety Administration. The erstwhile “union protection” provisions would have made it virtually impossible for TSA make timely changes in its passenger screening procedure in response to ever-evolving security threats. Unfortunately, the bill does contain a good deal of junk. Some requirements will actually make America less safe, needlessly siphoning time, effort, and resources away from the kind of work that actually thwarts terrorists. Among the key strategic missteps are provisions that: Increase spending based on criteria unrelated to actual security risks. Though they tightened up one state grant program, lawmakers wound up creating new grant programs, beefing up existing (and unfocused) grant programs, and injecting wasteful state minimums into more grant funding formulas. They also adopted a host of earmarks from congressional leadership. In the end, Congress could not resist buying a bigger barrel and stuffing it with even more pork. Require ports and airlines to scan every container entering the United States. While this initiative “polls well,” most security experts find the idea preposterous. The scanning will produce so much data (and poor-quality data at that) that it will bog down rather than inform security operations. By the time anyone dockside will be able to review pictures of, say, a container of sneakers sent from China, odds are the shoes will have already been stocked, sold, and walking around the country for weeks. One measure of how far the bill has missed its strategic mark is how found in how very few of its more than 700 pages of provisions pertains in any way to recommendations actually made by the 9/11 Commission. Inspecting every container of frozen fish, for example, was never suggested in the commission report. How curious that the so-called 9/11 bill can come up with so many frothy original ideas, yet scrupulously avoid so many hard-nosed recommendations from the commission. For instance, whatever happened to the idea of further consolidating the jurisdiction of congressional committees over the Homeland Security Department. The new law studiously ignores this basic housekeeping reform so strenuously sought by the commission. What Congress cobbled together shortly before recess was pretty much standard kitchen-sink legislation — a hodgepodge of measures styled mostly to please various stakeholders and deliver on campaign promises. Some are good, some bad, and some indifferent. This “new” way of doing homeland security looks an awful lot like the traditional way Congress legislates. The contrast with how Congress approached homeland security shortly after 9/11 could not be more striking. In the wake of the attack, legislators purposefully created the Department of Homeland Security, passed the Patriot Act (which has actually helped stop terrorist attacks), and reformed the intelligence community. The post-9/11 congresses governed a nation at war. Until this year. This year, Congress slaps together a mediocre bill, bats it over to the president, and goes on vacation.

Also can you tell me how old you think I am from writing this, so I know if I sound too young. I know it's long so thanks to anyone how does read it. The battlefield was littered with bodies, their blood staining the grass red, if any grass could grow again. A once lush and beautiful landscape, but now it now reeked of death and violence, all trees and plants destroyed, for beauty had no place here now. No race had been spared the carnage, the corpses of Elves and Drekens, bitter enemies in life, lay together in peace, their fallen standards transformed into grave markers for the hundreds of thousands who would never return home. Dust swirled across the field, giving the whole a landscape a ghostly look, masking the violence for an instant, as if the very earth was trying to erase what had happened. The only sound left to be heard were the cries and moans of the wounded; some in death throws, their life blood seeping into the ground making the land seem corrupt. Carrion scavenges roamed the field, the black creatures rumoured to the agent of the Night Lord, attracted to the scent of death, gorging themselves on a free meal, with no distinction on whether their prey was alive or dead, but there was too few people left alive to stop them, too few to save the badly wounded from being eaten alive. In the ruins of the city women lay together, killed near the end, as they had tried to protect the children with nothing more than bread knifes and small bows, their faces unrecognisable as there own, while the children who had survived stood and stared at them, faces white with fear and horror from what they had seen. They had not wanted to be driven from their homes by this war, and now they would stay there forever. Vultures circling the sky alerted others of their kind to the presence of a meal, while meat eating worms, over six meters long, surfaced, pulling up mountains of soil with them, burying those bodies closest to them, and began feeding on anything and everything it their path, even their own wounded, drawn by the smell of blood. In an odd contrast to the ragged and blooded people surrounding him, the Night Lord stood clothed in near perfection, deep black silk shirt and trousers, black knee length boots and a dark green richly embroidered woollen cloak, but even though he had no visible weapons the violence did not seem to have touched him, he didn’t look like he belonged on the battlefield. But he did have a weapon; the proof of it surrounded him. Dead men, Elves and even Drekens who had dared to defy him were sprawled around him, more missing limbs than were not. From his vantage on a nearby hillside the Night Lord smiled, showing a row of sharp, white, teeth in a dark, almost black, inhuman face. He felt a fierce joy, for even in defeat he could relish the pain and suffering of others, pain that he had caused, to get revenge, to take away from them what he had had take away from him, and to try out his plans for his final attack on this world. For this was not the final battle, as the people living on this pathetic lump of rock were calling it, nor was it the first, this was just a skirmish in the thousands of years they had been at war, yet these people could not remember the last time they had fought, nearly two thousand years ago, let alone the first. They had defeated him true, but he had accomplish all that he had wanted to do this time, he had killed two of the Three’s Spirit partners, and destroying the one place that every living creature thought of as a place of peace and tranquillity, showing them that nothing was safe, nothing was sacred. The city of Can’salinair had been completely destroyed, and this world never see it’s like again. Now when the battle for Nathunia commenced in earnest, they would be afraid of losing everything, so they would only try and save their own and nothing else, but he would be stronger and more powerful than they expected and he would take everything they loved and destroy it, and make them see the life in it’s true light. He had not even participated in the battle beyond using the Power to destroy those who had dared to try and attack him. He had left the battle in the charge of his underlings, to see how they planned the attack, to see how the others countered it, to get a better grip on tactics of these people, but it had not changed much since the last time, or even the time before that. For this was just the storm before the end, that would happen so soon, so very soon. And then he would see who would defeat who. He would take away everything they had and he would gain dominance over Nathunia, and all would beg for mercy before him. A crunch of bones beneath heavy boots called him out of his reserve, and he turned to see the Three walking up the hillside with only a single Spirit partne
What would you do based upon this info? I am Josh Please keep in mind no attorney wants to help!? *Please note* My statute of Limitations is not up, shortly after being terminated from the department I was activated in the military, therefore the case was left open. The Missouri Comission on Human Rights told me I have until June to take this matter to court. From the time I was terminated upuntil now they claim they have been trying to get in contact with me but they couldnt which is not true because over the last year and a half or so I have contacted the department numerous times to try and get this off my record, once they found out the Attorny General was aware of this, they finally contacted me and launched an investigation, I feel an investigation being done by the state when I was fired by the state, will definately not be in my favor, so I am seeking counsel from someone to help me achieve my goal which is to get the bad conduct discharge off my record and also seeking monetary damages. Joshua Yount SSN ***-**-**** DOB *** **, 1982 PSC Box 3062 Vandenberg AFB Lompoc CA 93437 2-09-07 To Whom It May Concern: Being a veteran of the World’s greatest military, as many of you are I would expect you to hold integrity to yourself when hearing my story. On or about the month of December 2004 I was hired on by the Missouri Department of Corrections at Moberly Correctional Center . While I was there I came in contact with a female employee whom I befriended. On or about March 2005 she and I left with our group to attend the training academy in Jefferson City, while there I made some decisions that did not hold up to my character. On several occasions during after duty hours I consumed alcohol with this particular female. However approximately the third week of training the last one of these occasions occurred with the end result of me being accused of sexual assault and terminated from my employment due to her allegations. The Department of Corrections states that I was terminated for bad conduct for consuming alcohol and being late for class (1day late due to illness & the only other day was the day after the alleged allegation). When I was terminated I appealed this decision because I felt I was being discriminated against however my appeal was denied. Given the facts this other female Individual was consuming alcohol just as often as I was and that she was late to class as often as I, their decision was to allow her to keep her employment but terminate mine. I am under the impression that they believe I actually committed these accusations therefore terminating me for sexual assault, if they were to honestly terminate me for bad conduct for the consumption of alcohol they would have terminated this female individual as well. Regardless of what the Department of Corrections may have in their records they were aware of her actions while in the training academy. I have a letter signed by the Macon County Victims Advocate dated February 7, 2007 which states quote “ I made several telephone calls to law enforcement in Jefferson City and was told upon investigation the overall feeling was that Ms. XXXX made the accusation in order to keep from getting in trouble with her employer for drinking while in training and having relations with a fellow correction officer” this letter also states “ Ms. XXXX had a history of making false allegations in Macon County ”. I have attached this letter. After this incident I filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity but did not follow through due to family emergencies and I had also contacted the State Reps., State Senate, Director of State, the Division Director of Department of Corrections and Superintendant of Moberly Correctional Center their decisions stood final. I also seeked counsel from an attorney in Macon County who wanted much more than I could afford being a single father with 2 children at that time. It wasn’t until recently that I applied for a position as a law enforcement officer with the Travis County Sheriffs Department in Austin , Texas and found that because of the mark on my employment record I would not be able to obtain the position I was longing for. My criminal record is clean, I have many accredited hours in Criminal Justice, I am only being held back from doing what I want to, do due to false accusations from an unbalanced young lady. I am coming forward to all of you in the hopes of clearing my employment record. As giving my all but death to this country as a 6 year veteran with an Honorable Discharge from the Navy, and currently on active duty with the California Air National Guard, I do believe I deserve better than this. I have been respectful to my Commander in Chief, to the State of Missouri and have always maintained honesty and integrity. I would only hope after reading this story you too would uphold your integrity and ask yourself, does this young man deserve such a tainted mark upon his employment record? If you honestly do not think so what could you do, given the office and position that you hold? Thank You for your time. Very Respectfully, Joshua S. Yount Senior Airman United States Air Force P.S. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or advice. You may contact me by either phone (619-948-1809) or email j_yount_3@yahoo.com . Ms. Ettledorf had make a claim that Mr. Yount raped her when She and Mr. Yount were attending training classes for their employment with the Missouri Department of Corrections, 1 made several telephone calls to law enforcement in Jefferson City and was told that upon investigation the overall feeling was that Ms. Ettledorf made the accusation in order to keep from getting in trouble with her employer for drinking while in training and having relations with a fellow corrections officer. I took a special interest in this case because Ms. Ettledorf had a history of making false rape allegations in Macon County One case involved three young men being charged with rape when Ms. Ettledorf was once again drinking alcohol and found herself in trouble for her behavior. The cases against the young men were dropped when she admitted to my self and the prosecuting attorney that there had in fact not been a rape or sexual contact with any of the young men. At least two additional times Ms. Ettledorf was in contact with law enforcement claiming sexual assault, and these were also false. Other than this contact, I do not personally know Joshua Yount, but would hate to see a young man’ s career be jeopardized by a mark on his record that does not accurately reflect what happened. This young lady continues to have problems with “relationships” and is currently a witness in a case involving her most recent er-boyfriend being stabbed by another male subject at her home. At some point I believe it is safe to say that she is most likely the cause of her own problems. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the above listed telephone number. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Erica M. I am trying to convince my parents to buy me a macbook pro i wrote this list well what do you think? 20 Reasons Why I Need a Macbook Pro 1.Macs are more reliable. In the past 8 months my computer has had to have the Os re-installed 4 times, 3 for hard drive problems and 1 for a virus. Mac’s are very reliable machines according to consumer reports, and multiple reviews online such as C-net, Notebook reviews, Consumer reports, ECT. Mark the Mac book pro as a very good Computer, better than a PC. 2.Macs Run windows to! On a Macbook Pro I Can Run Windows as well as Mac OS X through Boot Camp. So in way I will get the best of both worlds I can run Mac OS X for internet and video editing and music editing, then I can run Windows Vista for Games, Office, and Windows Exclusive programs I might need. 3.I Know How to Use Macs. I can use a Mac much better than a PC. I was taught how to use them in elementary school. Right down to how to use all of the Mac office programs. 4.No Viruses! On Macs there are no viruses, which means that I can /surf the web with confidence my computer is safe. 5.If my Mac breaks no problem! With Apple care I can call Apple and my problem is fixed either by an apple expert helping me through it our by sending my computer to apple. Were as with a PC if it breaks Basically your screwed, first you have to find the problem, then call support then figure out how to fix it, then try do to do all of the things that you have no clue on how to do. No no no no with a Mac I call apple and since Macs are so simple with a description of my problem I have an answer. 6.A Mac Will Help Me in School. Last year I had 12 late or missing essays and research assignments because my computer was broken. On a Mac if it breaks I just send it to apple and in a few days I get a new computer for free. But it takes weeks to fix a PC. 7.They Last Forever!!!!!! On a Mac the Requirements to run software are very slim, the average life of a Mac is about 5 years compared to the 2 year life of a PC. 8.I can Use a Mac for Everything!!! Since Macs run Windows and Mac OS X there is no such thing as incompatible software. 9.You May Say at This Point “I am Convinced you need a Mac, But why a Macbook pro?” Well a Macbook pro is a notebook, which means I can use it anywhere. For example what if I have a huge report I have to do over the weekend but we are going to grandmas house, well I could take my Macbook pro and I could work on a report, and study for a test with a preloaded study guide. 10.I will get A’s on my report Card. With a Mac there are no viruses and they are notably reliable so there is no excuse of my computer had a virus, or the “it was broken” excuse. A Macbook pro will help me excel in school and in extra activities I do such as movie making and video games and there is guitar learning software. 11.Since I will be using the computer I should get the computer I want to use. What you guys have to remember is that the next computer I’m going to get will be my computer, so in that case I should get the computer that I want to use, not the one that you want me to use. 12.If I get the Macbook pro I will have enough space on my desk to do other things. Such as homework, or work. Right now my desk is too crowded with CRT monitors to do work; well a laptop would take care of that. 13.There is a brand new update. An update came out on June 5th which means that I will get the most advanced technology now. 14.A Macbook pro is the most powerful notebook and most powerful Mac other than the Mac pro. 15.I have two lives. If I came home from school one day and I found my computer broken my dell, I would have to wait for dad to fix it. But with a Mac I can run Windows and OS X so if OS X dies I can use windows because it uses a separate portion of the hard drive, and vise versa. 16.Apple is the only company that makes the software and the hardware. On a Mac the software is made to use all of the advantages of the hardware. Were as on a PC the software is made to be used on 100 companies computers 17.All the programs I use and want to use are on Mac. I use iTunes and that’s a program designed for Mac. I cant use iMovie, or Logic. 18.A new OS is about to be released. Leopard is about to be released, with many more features than tiger. 19.I can use .mac. .mac is a net based e-mail and web page publisher and internet storage. With many other features. 20.Macs just work. Macs are so simple a caveman can use them, they work so well, and they are so easy to use that you can use it to learn languages, or to learn how to play an instrument. They just work, were as with a PC needs to have lessons to learn how to use it. With a Macbook pro I can just do everything and have everything work. Reasons 1-20 are the reasons I need a Macbook pro. oh yeah and btw im not asking people about the classic mac or windows im asking if my list is good, dont answer if your gonna say something such as "buy a pc instead"
Why do libs avoid President Bush's Accomplishments? President Bush's Accomplishments Spotted at Rightnation.us and GOPUSA.com reprinted here for your pleasure. I encourage people who support Bush to learn how effective our President has been, and liberals ought to browse this too. Just remember, the liberal media can't cover up the truth of his accomplishments. The Bush Administration 2001-2004 Abortion & Traditional Values 1. Banned Partial Birth Abortion — by far the most significant roll-back of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade. 2. Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy. 3. By Executive Order (EO), reversed Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act. 4. By EO, prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services. 5. Upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals. 6. Made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in 2004. 7. Supports the Defense of Marriage Act — and a Constitutional amendment saying marriage is between one man and one woman. 8. Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency. 2. Has reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse. 3. Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to become teachers. Environment & Energy 1. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. 2. Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives. 4. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops. 5. Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger. 6. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed.
Was the Reagan Administration the most corrupt ever? Ronald Reagan's Criminal Administration: "By the end of his term, 138 Reagan administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever." James Watt, Reagan's Secretary of the Interior was indicted on 41 felony counts for using connections at the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help his private clients seek federal funds for housing projects in Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Watt conceded that he had received $500,000 from clients who were granted very favorable housing contracts after he had intervened on their behalf. In testifying before a House committee Watt said: "That's what they offered and it sounded like a lot of money to me, and we settled on it." Watt was eventually sentenced to five years in prison and 500 hours of community service. Although not convicted, Edwin Meese III, resigned as Reagan's Attorney General after having been the subject of investigations by the United States Office of the Independent Counsel on two occasions (Wedtech and Iran-Contra), during the 3 short years he was in office. E. Bob Wallach, close friend and law classmate of Attorney General Edwin Meese, was sentenced to six years in prison and fined $250,000 in connection with the Wedtech influence-peddling scandal. Lyn Nofziger--Convicted on charges of illegal lobbying of White House in Wedtech scandal. Michael Deaver received three years' probation and was fined one hundred thousand dollars after being convicted for lying to a congressional subcommittee and a federal grand jury about his lobbying activities after leaving the White House. The Iran-Contra scandal. In June, 1984, at a National Security Council meeting, CIA Director Casey urged President Reagan to seek third-party aid for the Nicaraguan contras. Secretary of State Schultz warned that it would be an "impeachable offense" if the U.S. government acted as conduit for such secret funding. But that didn't stop them. That same day, Oliver North was seeking third-party aid for the contras. But Reagan, the "teflon President" avoided serious charges or impeachment. Casper Weinberger was Secretary of Defense during Iran-Contra. In June 1992 he was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of concealing from congressional investigators and prosecutors thousands of pages of his handwritten notes. The personal memoirs taken during high level meetings, detailed events in 1985 and 1986 involving the Iran-Contra affair. Weinberger claimed he was being unfairly prosecuted because he would not provide information incriminating Ronald Reagan. Weinberger was scheduled to go on trial January 5, 1993, where the contents of his notes would have come to light and may have implicated other, unindicted conspirators. While Weinberger was never directly linked to the covert operations phase of the Iran-Contra affair, he is believed to have been involved in the cover-up of the ensuing scandal. According to Special Prosecutor Lawrence Walsh, Weinberger's notes contain evidence of a conspiracy among the highest ranking Reagan Administration officials to lie to congress and the American public. Some of the notes are believed to have evidence against then Vice-President George Bush who pardoned Weinberger to keep him from going to trial. Raymond Donovan, Secretary of Labor indicted for defrauding the New York City Transit Authority of $7.4. million. { Republicans will point out that Donovan was acquitted. And that really matters in Donovan's case, because he was a Republican. But it didn't matter for Clinton or any of his cabinet, most all of whom were acquitted, because they were Democrats!} Elliott Abrams was appointed by President Reagan in 1985 to head the State Department's Latin American Bureau. He was closely linked with ex-White House aide Lt. Col. Oliver North's covert movement to aid the Contras. Working for North, Abrams coordinated inter-agency support for the contras and helped solicit illegal funding from foreign powers as well as domestic contributors. Abrams agreed to cooperate with Iran-Contra investigators and pled guilty to two charges reduced to misdemeanors. He was sentenced in 1991 to two years probation and 100 hours of community service but was pardoned by President George Bush. Robert C. McFarlane was appointed Ronald Reagan's National Security Advisor in October 1983 and become well-known as a champion of the MX missile program in his role as White House liaison to congress. In 1984, Mc Farlane initiated the review of U.S. policy towards Iran that led directly to the arms for hostages deal. He also supervised early National Security Council efforts to support the Contras. Shortly after the Iran-Contra scandal was revealed in early 1987, McFarlane took an overdose of the tranquilizer Valium in an attempt to end his life. In his own words: "What really drove me to despair was a sense of having failed the country." McFarlane pled guilty to four misdemeanors and was sentenced to two years probation and 200 hours of community service. He was also fined $20,000. He received a blanket pardon from President George Bush. Oliver North--Convicted of falsifying and destroying documents, accepting an illegal gratuity, and aiding and abetting the obstruction of Congress. Conviction overturned on appeal due to legal technicalities. John Poindexter, Reagan's national security advisor, --guilty of five criminal counts involving conspiracy to mislead Congress, obstructing congressional inquiries, lying to lawmakers, used "high national security" to mask deceit and wrong-doing. Richard Secord pleaded guilty to a felony charge of lying to Congress over Iran-Contra. Alan D. Fiers was the Chief of the Central Intelligence Agency's Central American Task Force. Fiers pled guilty in 1991 to two counts of withholding information from congress about Oliver North's activities and the diversion of Iran arms sale money to aid the Contras. He was sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service. Fiers agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in exchange for having his felonies reduced to misdemeanors and his testimony gave a boost to the long standing criminal investigation of Lawrence Walsh, Special Prosecutor. Fiers testified that he and three CIA colleagues knew by mid-1986 that profits from the TOW and HAWK missile sales to Iran were being diverted to the Contras months before it became public knowledge. Alan Fiers received a blanket pardon for his crimes from President Bush. Clair George was Chief of the CIA's Division of Covert Operations under President Reagan. In August 1992 a hung jury led U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth to declare a mistrial in the case of Clair George who was accused of concealing from Congress his knowledge of the Iran-Contra affair. George had been named by Alan Fiers when Fiers turned state's evidence for Lawrence Walsh's investigation. In a second trial on charges of perjury, false statements and obstruction of justice, George was convicted of lying to two congressional committees in 1986. George faced a maximum five year federal prison sentence and a $20,000 fine for each of the two convictions. Jurors cleared George of five other charges including two counts of lying to a federal grand jury. Those charges would have carried a mandatory 10 months in prison upon conviction. Clair George received a blanket pardon for his crimes from President George Bush. Duane R. (Dewey) Clarridge was head of the CIA's Western European Division under President Reagan. He was indicted on November 29, 1991 for lying to congress and to the Tower Commission that investigated Iran- Contra. Clarridge was charged with five counts of perjury and two counts of making false statements for covering up his knowledge of a November 25, 1985 shipment of HAWK missiles to Iran. Clarridge was also suspected of diverting to the Contras weapons that were originally intended for the Afghan mujahaddeen guerrillas. Clarridge received a blanket pardon for his crimes on Christmas Eve 1992 from President George Bush. Environmental Protection Agency's favoritism toward polluters. Assistant administrator unduly influenced by chemical industry lobbyists. Another administrator resigned after pressuring employees to tone down a critical report on a chemical company accused of illegal pollution in Michigan. The deputy chief of federal activities was accused of compiling an interagency "hit" or "enemies" list, like those kept in the Nixon Watergate period, singling out career employees to be hired, fired or promoted according to political beliefs. Anne Gorscuh Burford resigned amid accusations she politically manipulated the Superfund money. Rita Lavelle was fired after accusing a senior EPA official of "systematically alienating the business community." She was later indicted, tried and convicted of lying to Congress and served three months of a six-month prison sentence. After an extensive investigation, in August 1984, a House of Representatives subcommittee concluded that top-level EPA appointees by Reagan for three years "violated their public trust by disregarding the public health and the environment, manipulating the Superfund program for political purposes, engaging in unethical conduct and participating in other abuses.". Neglected nuclear safety. A critical situation involving nuclear safety had been allowed to develop during the Reagan era. Immense sums, estimated at 200 billion or more, would be required in the 1990s to replace and make safe America's neglected, aging, deteriorating, and dangerous nuclear facilities. Savings & Loan Bail-out. Hundreds of billions of dollars were needed to bail out savings and loan institutions that either had failed during the deregulation frenzy of the eighties or were in danger of bankruptcy. Reckless airline deregulation. Deregulation of airline industry took too broad a sweep, endangering public safety. Additionally: Richard Allen, National Security adviser resigned amid controversy over an honorarium he received for arranging an interview with Nancy Reagan. Richard Beggs, chief administrator at NASA was indicted for defrauding the government while an executive at General Dynamics. Guy Flake, Deputy Secretary of Commerce, resigned after allegations of a conflict of interest in contract negotiations. Louis Glutfrida, Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency resigned amid allegations of misuses of government property. Arthur Hayes, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration resigned over illegal travel reimbursements. J. Lynn Helms, chief of the Federal Aviation Administration resigned over a grand jury investigation of illegal business activities. Marjory Mecklenburg, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Resources resigned over irregularities on her travel vouchers. William Petro, U.S. Attorney fired and fined for tipping off an acquaintance about a forthcoming Grand Jury investigation. Thomas C. Reed, White House counselor and National Security Council adviser resigned and paid a $427,000 fine for stock market insider trading. Emanuel Savas, Assistant Secretary of HUD resigned over assigning staff members to work on government time on a book that guilty to expense account fraud and accepting kickbacks on government contracts. Charles Wick, Director of the U.S. Information Agency investigated for taping conversations with public officials without their approval.

how is she monitored? My friend Steve was unjustly fired from the bank he worked for due to the fact that the branch manager is a horror show. She harasses the staff, customers, etc. So when my friend Steve was unjustly fired he wrote a letter to the CEO. It was a detailed damaging letter concerning the branch manager. (FIRST STEVE SENT THE LETTER TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND FOLLOWED IT UP WITH A PHONE CALL. BUT MY FRIEND STEVE KNEW THE CEO WOULD NEVER SEE THE LETTER AT THE OFFICE SO HE OBTAINED THE CEO’s HOME ADDRESS AND MAILED IT TO THE CEO’S HOME) HERE ARE EXCERPTS FROM THE LETTER STEVE WROTE: (1) When I was helping the safe deposit attendant one customer (male) came into the branch to go into his box. I signed him in and he and I retrieved his box from the vault. When he went into the coupon room he realized that his sister was waiting on the banking floor. He asked me if I could watch his box while he would go and get his sister. I told him that I could not do this but I could go and get his sister, which I did. As his sister was walking to the coupon room the branch manager ran after him. And as the coupon door closed, the branch manager knocked on the door and asked the sister if she was on the signature card for the safe deposit box. The sister said no she wasn’t so the branch manager kicked her out of the room. Of course the sister and the customer was upset. I decided on my own to check with the higher ups and they told me that only the person who is on the signature card can retrieve the box but that person can bring in as many people as they want into the coupon room. (2) And one couple came in with their five year old son to go into their safe deposit box. The son held my hand the entire time he was at our branch and walked with me wherever I went. The branch manager said to me in a nasty tone of voice: "You are not allowed to walk with him" The couple was upset because every time they came into our branch and I gave their son my undivided attention he came out of his shell and made many friends at school. (3) The branch manager told one of my coworkers when the branch manager and the coworker had a disagreement that this coworker needs to go to see a psychologist. And the branch manager printed out and handed to my coworker two pages off the Internet on what psychologist to see. (4) About two weeks ago in the morning I asked the branch manager if she needed any copying done and she replied: I am a grown woman I don't need any one asking me if I need copying done. . Let me tell you on a professional level I am here just to work. (5) MY COWORKERS ARE SO AFRAID TO HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH ONE ANOTHER BECAUSE THEY ARE SO AFRAID THAT THE BRANCH MANAGER IS GOING TO SAY SOMETHING OR WRITE THEM UP. (6) CUSTOMERS ARE CLOSING THEIR ACCOUNTS LEFT AND RIGHT AND OPENING THEM UP IN OTHER BANKS (7) A few months ago the branch manager yelled at one my coworkers in front of a customer. This coworker is a teller and she had a customer at her window. And then not to long ago the branch manager told this coworker of mine that this coworker is very unprofessional. Please keep in mind this coworker is the most professional person I know and she is quieter than a church mouse trying to avoid a cat. (9) The branch manager is supposed to put in 40 hours. However, she comes in late (around 9AM) and leaves 3PM or 4PM. 10) The branch manager has made trouble in the other branches she used to work at. One person that worked with her at another branch said “Thank God she is no longer at our branch” . ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT AFTER THE CEO RECEIVED THE LETTER (AT HIS HOUSE) THE BRANCH MANAGER HAD A REVIEW AND WAS PUT ON WARNING. MY QUESTION: Since the branch manager was put on warning is she monitored and if so how? (Keep in mind she is a manager in a bank branch and her boss and the higher ups are not there every day). STEVE’S EX-COWORKERS TOLD STEVE THAT EVER SINCE HIS LETTER THE BRANCH MANAGER COMES IN EARLY AND STAYS LATE AND SHE EVEN MOVED VERY CLOSE TO THE JOB AND SHE IS NOT BOTHERING THEM THE WAY SHE USED TO..

More War on the Horizon? More War on the Horizon by Paul Craig Roberts by Paul Craig Roberts DIGG THIS No pullout from Iraq while I’m president, declares George W. Bush. On to Iran, declares Vice President Cheney. Israel is a "peace-seeking state" that needs $30 billion of US taxpayers’ money for war, declares State Department official Nicholas Burns. The Democratic Congress, if not fully behind the Iraqi war, at least no longer is in the way of it. Nor are the Democrats in the way of the Bush regime’s build up for initiating war with Iran. The Bush regime says it is going to designate part of Iran’s military – the Revolutionary Guards – a terrorist organization, whose bases and facilities Bush intends to bomb along with Iran’s nuclear energy sites. Three US aircraft carrier strike forces are deployed off Iran. B-2 Stealth Bombers are being fitted to carry 30,000 pound "bunker-buster" bombs to use against hardened sites. Politicized US generals assert that Iran is providing arms and aid to the Iraqi resistance to the US occupation. The media is feeding the US population the same propaganda about nonexistent Iranian weapons of mass destruction that they fed us about nonexistent Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. A former CIA Middle East field officer, Robert Baer, has written in Time magazine that the Bush regime has decided to attack the Revolutionary Guards within the next 6 months. Remember the "cakewalk war"? Well, this time the neocons think that an attack on the Revolutionary Guards will free Iran from Islamic influence and cause Iranians to back the US against their own government. Lies, unprovoked aggression, and delusional expectations – the same ingredients that produced the Iraq catastrophe – all over again. The entire Bush regime and both political parties are complicit, along with the media and US allies. According to Baer, the Bush regime has given no consideration to whether Iran’s response to a US attack might be different than to welcome it as liberation. What if Iran really were to arm the Iraqi resistance and/or to sink our aircraft carriers? How can any government, even one as incompetent, delusional and unaccountable as the Bush regime, initiate war without any thought to the consequences? The Bush regime’s planned war against Iran casts light on the large increase in military armaments that the US is supplying to Israel. With Iraq in chaos and civil war, an attack on Iran leaves as opposition to Israel only Syria and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Israel cannot finish off the Palestinians until Hezbollah is destroyed. An Israeli attack on Syria while the US attacks Iran would leave Hezbollah without supplies in the face of a new Israeli attack. The agenda unfolding before our eyes may be the neoconservative/Israeli/Cheney plan to rid the Middle East of any check to Israeli territorial expansion. Nicholas Burns said that the $30 billion in military aid was not conditional on any Israeli concessions or progress toward resolving the conflict with the Palestinians. Israel’s ghettoizing and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian West Bank proceeds apace. Meanwhile in America, while more money is poured into more war, condemned bridges collapse killing Americans who trusted their government to provide safe infrastructure. Devastated residents of New Orleans remain unaided. Financial difficulties deepen for more Americans as falling home prices and jobs lost to offshoring push more Americans into desperate straits. The US dollar continues to fall as the government’s war debts build up abroad. Except for the armaments industry, where is the gain to America in Bush’s wars? Before Bush invaded Afghanistan, the Taliban had stamped out drug production. The US invasion has brought it back. On August 22 Bush told the Veterans of Foreign Wars that US troops are the "greatest force for human liberation the world has ever known." Tell that to the 650,000 dead Iraqis and the 4 million displaced Iraqis, and the tens of thousands of slaughtered Afghans, and the coming civilian deaths in Iran. Tell that to all the bombed civilians from Serbia to Africa who are blown to pieces in order that a US president can make a point. Bush goes far beyond George Orwell’s "Newspeak" in his novel, 1984, when Bush equates US hegemony with liberation. America’s hegemonic hubris is a sickness. A country that tolerates a war criminal while he openly plans to attack yet another country is definitely not a light unto the world. August 24, 2007 Paul Craig Roberts [send him mail] wrote the Kemp-Roth bill and was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration. He was Associate Editor of the Wall Street Journal editorial page and Contributing Editor of National Review.
My Dad is too authoritative!!!? What do I do? He is wayyy too controlling. He always wants to know who I'm talking to on the phone if he finds out its a boy. He wants to meet all the parents of my friends before we hang out. He put PARENTAL CONTROLS to monitor what I do on the computer. (Luckily I found a way around it). Whenever he comes home from work he knocks on my Closed bedroom door..... then opens it anyway to find out what I'm doing and ask one or two questions about it. (sometimes I just want to read or watch tv in peace, you know?) He wants to know the rating of every movie I want to see; and if its rated R he reads reviews and watches the previews to see if its "appropriate" geez I'm 17 already! And... he was dissappointed that I'm going to start driving in January because he says driving in snow isnt safe for a first time driver! He kept trying to convince me to start in March and was upset when I told him I wont. Why doesnt he trust me by now to make my own decisions and do things without his help??!!! I talked to him about it, and he just thinks he's right and has a right to act like this.
What are some good foods to cook in a steamer? I just ordered this steamer here: http://www.amazon.com/Oster-5712-Electronic-6-1-Quart-Steamer/dp/B00019G8IS/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-9771316-6611027?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1193270660&sr=8-2 I got it mostly for vegetables, like broccoli, carrots, lima beans, green beans...but what else can I use it to cook? Looking at the reviews, some people use it for meat? Is it safe to cook chicken in these things, and if so, how does it come out? I also eat a lot of brown rice...can I cook this rice directly in the steamer? That would be great, because I hate taking out a pan and boiling rice on a burner all the time...if I could just steam it, that would be so much better. Any tips or suggestions would be great as to what else comes out well in a food steamer. Umm, I'm actually looking more for specific foods I can cook in a steamer, not a recipe for something that has little to do with a food steamer.
Has anyone recently stayed at Gruphotel Cala Pi in Llucmajor? We are booked at this hotel for the first week of June. My husband and I were planning to leave our son home but I'm thinking he might like the experience. First, is it a family friendly place...like would a 5 year old enjoy it? If so, what kind of activities do you recommend? Second, I've read mixed reviews about this hotel - now, I know they are subjective - what you love, I might not. However, they are really mixed - some say it's really safe and beautiful and then others say they have been robbed there and suspect it was an inside job at the hotel. I got this info from TripAdvisor, RCI, etc. Any information from anyone - good or bad, would be helpful! Thanks in advance!
July 2008: Relocating to Houston, Texas? I am looking to move to Houston, my home town. I live in a part of California that I would have to commute an hour or more one way for a decent paying job. There is nothing here. I've researched the job market in H-town, there are alot of excellent possibilities. Question: what area is the best? I am a single parent, so safe location is important, as well as the schools, elementary & middle. Apartment complexes? Which are the best, or at least good to live in, good community? Has anyone heard of "Lazyacres" in the "tomball" area? I just read reviews of apartment complexes being torn down by the city.
Questions about bank transfers...? 1. If you've transferred some money from your bank account to someone else's, can they use any personal information about you (name, home address, phone number, account number) to hack into your bank account? 2. Are bank transfers very safe? I'm buying an mp3 from this online store (which seems to have many good reviews) but i need to perform a bank transfer or use paypal to pay for the mp3. Would paypal be better? Thanks very much
Bush & the Psychology of Incompetent Decisions: What do you think of this VERY LONG email I received tonight? Bush and the Psychology of Incompetent Decisions By John P. Briggs, MD, and J.P. Briggs II, PhD Thursday 18 January 2007 President George W. Bush prides himself on "making tough decisions." But many are sensing something seriously troubling, even psychologically unbalanced, about the president as a decision-maker. They are right. Because of a psychological dynamic swirling around deeply hidden feelings of inadequacy, the president has been driven to make increasingly incompetent and risky decisions. This dynamic makes the psychological stakes for him now unimaginably high. The words "success" and "failure" have seized his rhetoric like metaphors for his psyche's survival. The president's swirling dynamic lies "hidden in plain sight" in his personal history. From the time he was a boy until his religious awakening in his early 40s, Bush had every reason to feel he was a failure. His continued, almost obsessive, attempts through the years to emulate his father, obtain his approval, and escape from his influence are extensively recorded. His biography is peppered with remarks and behavior that allude to this inner struggle. In an exuberant moment during his second campaign for Texas governor, Bush told a reporter, "It's hard to believe, but ... I don't have time to worry about being George Bush's son. Maybe it's a result of being confident. I'm not sure how the psychoanalysts will analyze it, but I'm not worried about it. I'm really not. I'm a free guy." A psychoanalyst would note that he is revealing here that he has been worrying about being his father's son quite a lot. Resentment naturally contaminated Bush's efforts to prove himself to his father and receive his father's approval. The contradictory mix showed up in his compulsion to re-fight his father's war against Iraq, but this time winning the duel some thought his father failed to win with Saddam. He could at once emulate his father, show his contempt for him, and redeem him. But beneath this son-father struggle lies a far more significant issue for Bush - a question about his own competence, adequacy and autonomy as a human being. We have seen this inner question surface repeatedly, and we have largely conspired with him to deny it. • On September 11, 2001, we saw (and suppressed) the image of him sitting stunned for seven minutes in a crowd of school children after learning that the second plane had hit the Twin Towers, and then the lack of image of him when he vanished from public view for the rest of the day. Instead, we bought the cover-up image, three days after the attack, of the strong leader, grabbing the bullhorn in New York City and issuing bellicose statements. • In 2004, we saw and denied the insecurity displayed when the president refused to face the 9/11 Commission alone and needed Vice President Cheney to go with him. • In 2003, we saw and suppressed the dark side of the "Mission Accomplished" aircraft carrier landing, in which a man who had ducked out on his generation's war and dribbled away his service in the Texas Air National Guard dressed up like Top Gun and pretended that he was a combat pilot like his father. • Asked by a reporter if he would accept responsibility for any mistakes, Bush answered, "I hope I don't want to sound like I've made no mistakes. I'm confident I have. I just haven't - you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not quick - as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one." What we heard, and yet didn't hear, was a confession of his feelings of inadequacy and an arrogant denial those feelings all at once. • In early 2006, when his father moved behind the scenes to replace Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and the son responded, "I'm the decider and I decide what's best" - and when he clenched his fist at a question about his father's influence, proclaiming, "I'm the Commander in Chief" - we glimpsed what was going on. To cover up and defend himself against his feelings of his inadequacy and incompetence, Bush developed a number of psychological defenses. In his school years he played the clown. (His ability to joke about his verbal slip-ups is an endearing adult application of this defense to public life.) His heavy drinking was a classic way to anesthetize feelings of inadequacy. Indeed, drinking typically makes the alcoholic grandiose, which has led some commentators to argue that Bush has the "dry drunk" syndrome, where the individual has stopped drinking but retains the brittle psychology of the alcoholic. Other defenses now play especially powerful roles to protect the president against his internal feelings of insufficiency. The Christian Defense Bush has carefully let it be known that he believes the decisions he makes in office are directed by God. His famous claim to make decisions by "gut" ("I'm a gut player," he told Bob Woodward) equates with his claim of the spiritual inspiration he receives through prayer, his own and the prayers of others. Whatever else it is, this equation of his own choices with God's will has unparalleled advantages. It creates the perfect defense against any doubts he or anyone else might have that he can't make the right decision. The need to engage in analysis and explore alternatives to get there comes off the table. Instead, he has his gut; he has his God. Being "born again" also allows the president to present himself as having relegated to the past all those previously inadequate behaviors of his younger days: the poor academic performance, the drinking, the failed businesses. He's a new man, no longer incompetent but now supremely competent as a result of his faith. When Woodward asked Bush if he had consulted his father before invading Iraq, he replied, "He is the wrong father to appeal to in terms of strength. There is a higher father that I appeal to." How wonderfully that appeal must seem to resolve the internal conflict about adequacy we have described above. The Bully Defense Bush's mother, Barbara (sarcastic, mean, disciplinarian, always with an acid-tongued retort), is probably the model for another major defense Bush deploys to defend himself against feelings of inadequacy. A friend at the time described her as "sort of the leader bully." That bullies are insecure people is well known and fairly obvious. A bully covers insecurity with bluster and intimidation so that others won't find an opening to see how weak he feels. Much of the world outside the US considers Bush a bully. "You're either with us or against us" is a bully's threat that anyone can recognize. The Bush doctrine of pre-emptive strikes is a bully's doctrine. For his intimates and those closer to home, Bush appears to be what is called an emotional bully. An emotional bully gains control using sarcasm, teasing, mocking, name calling, threatening, ignoring, lying, or angering the other and forcing him to back down. Bush administration insider accounts describe this sort of behavior from the president. He's well known for his dismissive remarks. His penchant for giving nicknames to everyone has its dark, bully's side. Naming people is a way to control them. In report by Gail Sheehy in 2000, recalled recently by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, we get a glimpse of how Bush's pervasive fear of failure (his absolute refusal to consider "failure as an option") and his bully defense go together. Sheehy interviewed friends from his teenage years and college years. In basketball or tennis games he would insist points be played over because he wasn't ready; he would force opponents who had beaten him to continue playing until he beat them. At Yale he would interrupt his fellow students' studying for exams (helping them fail) to compete in a popular board game, "The Game of Global Domination," at which he was the player noted for taking the most risks, being the most aggressive. It's likely that speculations about Vice President Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice functioning as Bush's puppet-masters are 180 (or at least 160) degrees off. Bush is the president; he gets his way, and they know it. Chances are they have learned to channel his "gut" and give him policy advice that matches it. They may even imagine they are steering him, not clear about the ways that he has bullied them, elicited in them "The Stockholm Syndrome," in which hostages come to identify with and even defend the very person who is threatening them. This is the same dynamic evident in the behavior of battered spouses and members of gangs. Ron Suskind described the small group around the president: "A disdain for contemplation or deliberation, an embrace of decisiveness - a sometimes bullying impatience with doubters and even friendly questioners." Biographical reports tell us that Bush's parents taught him to keep his inner feelings to himself. As psychiatrist Justin A. Frank noted in Bush on the Couch, this results in a "self-protective indifference to the pain of others." This is another aspect of his bully defense, projecting his inner pain onto others. Bush's remarkable drive for the power to torture terrorist suspects and his reported glorying in Texas executions during his terms as governor testify to his lack of compassion, despite his recent statement of qualms about seeing Saddam Hussein drop through the trap. The Man of Splits and Oppositions Being in the world, for all of us, involves the challenge to somehow integrate the opposites of our nature and to select our way through the many opposing choices presented us in life. The bully polarizes the natural ambivalence (the internal opposition) anyone feels about whether he is strong or weak, safe or vulnerable. A person who needs to feel invulnerable and completely adequate all the time, or who always feels helpless and inadequate, has polarized these emotions and leads a deformed life. The degree of internal polarization in President Bush appears to be serious - and widespread. Commentators have made lists of the president's polarities: the proclaimed uniter who is a relentless divider, the habit of "saying one thing and doing another," as Vermont Senator Jim Jeffords put it. The list is long and growing. It should include the oppositions that show up in his famous Bushisms, such as: There is no doubt in my mind that we should allow the world worst leaders to hold America hostage, to threaten our peace, to threaten our friends and allies with the world's worst weapons. They [the terrorists] never stop thinking of ways to harm our country and our people - and neither do we. To a psychiatrist, these are not mere malapropisms and mistakes in speech. They suggest ambivalence oscillating violently between poles. They suggest a desperate uncertainty about everything that the president reflexively seeks to hide by taking absolutist, rigid positions about "victory," "success," "mission accomplished," "stay the course," "compassion," "tax cuts," "no child left behind," and a host of other issues. The Presidential Defense Once Bush took the bullhorn at ground zero, he found perhaps the ultimate defense for his secret fears of inadequacy. As he told Bob Woodward, in Bush at War, "I'm the commander - see, I don't need to explain - I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation." As commander in chief, as a war president, he could assemble his other psychological defenses around him. He could split the world into good and evil and the country would follow. His internal oppositions could be projected without much resistance from the populace or his adversaries. He could be the gut-led, divinely inspired "Decider," to save the country. He could project own internal fears of being "discovered as a fraud" into a threat "out there" waiting to happen. He could surround himself with loyalists whom he could emotionally bully, creating a new family that would admire him and that he could control. Meanwhile the ambiguities of political decisions that can always be rationalized offer a safe haven. Until history judges me (and that's a long way off, maybe never) I can't be definitively seen as incompetent. But as much as the presidency is a perfect defense for disguising incompetence, it's also the perfect trap. It accelerates the positive feedback loop that was set in motion when he "changed his heart" around age 40 (committing himself to God) and presumably put his failures, and his feelings of failure behind him. In recent weeks, anyone following the news must have intuitively sensed from watching and hearing the president that he would reject the Iraq Study Group's report, co-authored by a person he must have felt was the emissary of his father come to tell him that he had failed again. He chose escalation, the one solution most knowledgeable people agree cannot succeed, in order to keep alive the fiction that success still lies in the future. The dynamic is becoming obvious to almost everybody. But how much is Bush aware of this psychological dynamic and of the secret he's keeping? Not aware enough. That's the problem. Psychotherapists use the term "unconscious," but it isn't quite an accurate descriptor. We are aware of feelings, sensations and scripts that occur when one of our unseen psychic mechanisms is triggered. So, when an interviewer asked about the generals who demanded Rumsfeld be removed, and the president knew his father had been working behind the scenes to replace Rumsfeld, the question would not have triggered the conscious thought: there goes dad again trying to make me feel incompetent. Instead, the president may have felt a hollow sensation or a flush of anger, an urge to form a clownish grin to cover his watery feelings, and a script that would come out of his mouth as "I'm the decider." Beneath that would be the inadequacy and cover-up dynamic outlined here. A president's psychology and his inner secrets are his or her own business, except in one important area. That is area covered by the question, "Does the psychology of this individual interfere with his or her ability to make sound decisions in the best interest of the nation?" Recent history has certainly been witness to presidents with psychodynamics that have damaged their historical legacies. Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon come to mind. But in neither case was the very ability to make sound decisions compromised to the extent we believe it is with this president. A Failed Process Many accounts of the president suggest that his decision-making process is a failed one; in an important sense, it is no process at all. Ambivalent feelings are normal at certain stages of decision-making, and the ability to tolerate ambivalence has been shown to be the hallmark of creative thinkers. The inability to tolerate uncertainty because you think that may imply incapacity brings decision-making to an end. Thus, instead of focusing on the process needed to arrive at a decision, Bush marshals his defenses in order not to feel incompetent. That doesn't leave much room for exploring the alternatives required of competent decision-making. Not interested in discussion or detail (where the devil often lies), he seeks something minimal, just enough so he can let the decision come to him; it's his "gut" (read "God") that will provide the answer. But these gut feelings are the very feelings associated with his deep sense of inadequacy and his defenses against those feelings. So while he brags that he makes the "tough decisions," psychologically, he's defending himself against the very feelings of uncertainty that are the necessary concomitant to making tough decisions. His tough decision-making is a sham. In the recent maneuvering toward the "new strategy" in Iraq, we have witnessed a great pretense of normal decision-making. But the president clearly made up his mind almost as soon as the "surge" alternative appeared, and apparently moved to cow others, including his new secretary of defense Robert Gates (his father's man) in the process. "Success" is the only alternative for him. "Failure" and disintegration of Iraq is unthinkable because it would be synonymous with his own internal disintegration. As his decisions go awry, he exudes a troubling, uncanny aura of certitude (though some find it reassuring). He seems to expect to feel despised and alone (and probably has always felt that), as he has always secretly expected to fail. That expectation of failure leads to sloppy, risky, incompetent decisions, which in turn compel him to swerve from his fears of incompetence. At this point, the president seems to have entered a place in his psyche where he is discounting all external criticism and unpopularity, and fixing stubbornly on his illusion of vindication, because he's still "The Decider," who can just keep deciding until he gets to success. It's hard not to feel something heroic in this position - but it's a recipe for bad, if not catastrophic, decisions. Psychologically, President Bush has received support for so long because many have thought of him as "one of us." Most of us feel inadequate in some way, and watching him we can feel his inadequacies and sense his uncertainties, so we admire him for "pulling it off." His model tells us, "If you act like you're confident and competent, then you are." We are the culture that values the power of positive thinking and seeks assertiveness training. We believe that the right attitude can sometimes be more important than brains or hard work. He's bullied us, too. We don't dare to really confront the scale of his incompetent behavior, because then we would have to face what it means to have such an incompetent and psychologically disabled decision-maker as our president. It raises everyone's uncertainty. And that is, in fact, happening now. ---------- John P. thoughts on this please? In english we were asighned to write a book review on The House on Mango Street but I can't come up with a good ending and I don't know if it is correct proof reading wise. Help would be greatly appreaciated! Also tell me what you think of the rest. I don't actually hate the book that much I just dont really like the teacher and she finds "great value" in it. Do you remember those books you got stuck reading for book reports and all you wanted was to read that other book? To some, Sandra Cisneros is one of the best writers of the modern age. They also believe The House on Mango Street is a masterpiece and a perfect example of Cisneros's talent. Because I have not read any of Cisneros other works, I can not make a fair judgment on her overall talent. If you're looking for an incoherent book, this one is a good choice. Each vignette of The House on Mango Street is either a 1-2 page random story (and I use the term random lightly) of a different aspect of Esperanza's life in her home, on the street, with relatives, at school, and in her larger neighborhood, or a 1/2 page description of something equally trivial and unimportant. Cisneros does, however, capture the poor syntax and shallow nature of writing one might expect from a young girl. The point is, this book lacks any depth, scholarship, or conceivable reason of reading it. The House on Mango Street was disappointing. With so many short vignettes it was hard to keep track of what happened in each and every one. I didn’t feel like I knew the characters that were in the book throughout the whole time I was reading. For the majority of the time Sandra Cisneros would introduce some characters in a chapter that would soon be forgotten for the rest of the book. Then more characters keep coming and coming. At points I also got confused because there was such a huge build up of people that made appearances throughout the book, I forgot who was who and who did what! I wanted to know more about some chapters, and I couldn't because when I turned the page, it was about something completely different. The House on Mango Street jumped around WAY to much! Most of the vignettes almost seem like they were put in to make the book longer so it could be classified as a book. There was just nothing to connect each chapter together for me. One of my favorite subject to point out lies with the book's portrayal of men. To me, it seemed as if almost every single male character in the book either abuses the women or rapes them. Even the main character is raped at a carnival! Yes, I understand that The House on Mango Street is supposed to represent real life, but in reality, not every single man in the world is like that. Girls going to school black and blue from their abusive fathers, bums in the streets asking people to kiss them; are just a few examples of the many characterizations of men in these vignettes. Not even elderly men are safe from Cisneros's wrath! In one vignette, an elderly man forces Esperanza to kiss him on the mouth. And, there's a man across the street that has prostitutes come to his house. This skewed logic and obvious enmity toward men makes Sandra Cisneros's book hard for me to enjoy. Maybe women would like it better; but for me, I would have liked to read a fairer representation of the sexes. On Amazon.com, The House on Mango Street had mixed reviews. The average rating is 3 ½ stars with 598 customer reviews. Out of those reviews, 156 gave it 5 stars, 190 gave it a 4 star rating, 96 gave it a 3 star rating, 60 gave it 2 stars, and lastly, 96 gave it a 1 star rating. I believe this book can be described as a photo album. Each vignette is a different snap shot from Esperanza's life. You can only get so much from a photo album but never the full experience. When I want to read a book, I want it to have a plot, conflict, hook, and climax.
