Computer security.? Why is computer security so easy to bypass. In Xp you can lock your files and folders from other users so they cant view them but if you attached the hard drive with xp on it to a vista pc or laptop vista will bypass xp,s security and let you view all files. Why is is so easy to bypass vista passwords too And why is it that you can use a usb device to take controll and get sensative data from pcs and laptops. I have always learnt how to bypass security by any means. Even the secure pc can be breeched so why is pc security so weak?. xp & vista are very weak and most of the population use windows even with the security packs installed and the latest updates installed a pc can still be breeched. I do not think anyone who owns a pc would be safe security wise so why do people even bother with security programs most of them cant detect newly programed code and by the time they do its too late.

Computer Security? I have windows vista ultimate and i want to install some antiviruses. I have webroot-spysweeper and norton antivirus. Can i install both of them? I tried installing 2 different antiviruses on my other computer and it totally crashed! How can I check if my computer security suite is working - I keep getting nothing whenever I run a scan? I presently use Firefox exclusively as my browser, Sunbelt Personal Firewall (paid registered version) is always running, Webroot Spy Sweeper is my main anti-spyware with Ad-Aware as secondary backup, and AVG Free edition is my anti-virus. In addition to that, I always run CCleaner after every internet session. I'm running on a Windows 2000 professional OS. Now the thing is that I run a scan with Spy Sweeper and AVG about once a week, but not once in about a year have I gotten anything at the end of any of the scans but "congratulations! no spyware/virus found" at the end of the scans. So what I need to know is whether my security suite is really working that well, or could there be something that it might be overlooking. Any knowledgeable opinions out there?

Why did you change the online security from Computer Associates to the horrible Norton ? Norton sucks !? I made the mistake of updating on my laptop and it ran terrible afterword, our office computer was also updated and hasn't worked right since. Fortunately our home desktop has not been updated to the stupid Norton and is still on the Computer Associated security and is working fine. A few years ago when we had Norton installed it also worked horribly. I think Norton needs to go back to their drawing board and revamp all their software!
