For those who have been to the Edinburgh Underground Vaults!!? Hello, I'm doing a project for my class and I'm doing it on the Edinburgh Vaults. I went there in April on a tour and just loved the history behind it. I'm also talking about he paranormal activity that has been said to go on in them. So for those who have been there, can you please tell me if you had experienced any weird "sensations", felt anything, or witnessed any paranormal activity? Even of you didn't, could you please answer. I'm going to have a few slides where I show peoples account of when they were in them. And my teacher asks that I have the person's name to, even initials if you are uncomfortable with putting your full name. Also, could you put the year of when you visited the vaults? And if you had experienced alot when you were there, could you put a dteailed description of what all happened? I'm going to do a case study of somebody who experienced a lot of paranormal activity. I'm in grade twelve, so this presentation has to be thorough lol. I know it's a lot, but I thank and appreciate answers =)

the haunted vaults in Edinburgh? I did the ghost tour there a few months ago, and although the guide scared the pants out of the group at the end of the tour, I found the whole concept fascinating. Whats the story behind the misogynistic violent poltergeist down there? Who was he supposed to be? What other history can anyone tell me of the Vaults? No sarky comments please - I just want to know the history of it all. No, it was the South Bridge Vaults I visited. Although any other ghost stories are fascinating, must admit. Might have to go to "Annies Room" next time I visit. Anywhere else worth seeing??
Did anyone see the History Channel Special "Afraid of the Dark"? The part about Scottland and the Edinburgh vaults. I guess homelessness was illegal so they had to sleep in the vaults, but there were these to serial killers who would sell the bodies to science. Well I can't remember the NAME OF THE KILLERS, the KING that outlawed homelessness, or the TIME PERIOD. Please, if you can answer any of these questions I haven't been able to find them.
Where should we visit in Edinburgh? Me and my girlfriend are going to Edinburgh next month, will be our second time. We have seen most of the usual attractions, i.e. Castle, Zoo, Old and New Town, The Vaults, Museum of Childhood, Our Dynamic Earth. Just looking for some ideas for new places to visit within Edinburgh or maybe even further afield. Thanks
Best Ghost Walk in Edinburgh? Im going to Edinburgh over Halloween and Im looking for the scariest ghost walk on offer. I was their earlier this year and did a ghost walk with Mr Adam Lyal which was good but it wasn't very scary. (It was more of a comical ghost walk with ''jumper-ooters'' rather than a terrifying one) We want do go on a night, and may do the Vaults or the graveyard but because there are so many tours to choose from, Im totally confussed as to which ones are good, which ones a properly terrifying etc Can somebody help me please?!! Thanks xx
Can any of you see something spooky in this photo? http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2037515&id=1064902872&l=1626dbcca1 I took it when I did a vaults tour in Edinburgh a few years ago and it looks like there is a grey face at the top of the picture.
Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever had any ghostly/ paranormal experiences? When I was down visiting the Edinburgh vaults, I saw an orb (the vaults known to be very haunted.)When we were there, me and my friend saw a bright blue light, in a room which apparently was haunted by the ghost of an evil man who didn't like females, and would try to hurt them. My friend shouted when she saw it, lol, and the guide was like "ok, we need to get out of here" and he made us leave the vaults. He told us the light was an orb, and the energy of the ghost coming in and forming, or something like that. He was like "I had to get you out of there, or else I don't know what could of happened to you." It was scary. He said "Maybe he was attracted to your hair colour or length" !! It was so creepy, I was glad to get out! And he told us other stuff that happened down there, but I'm unsure if I believe it. What about you? Thanks for answering! :) @ Fayne Dunnett: Wow, really?? My friend (not the same one who saw the orb lol) and another man on the tour stepped into the stone circle. Nothing happened to either of them, but the guide had told us stuff about people who stepped into the stone circle, got dragged to the ground and had heart attacks. I wasn't sure if it was true or not though! @ Lily: Yeah, I'd been there twice before I went that time, and nothing happened on both visits. This one was so scary though, but then afterwards everyone has been saying it must of just been our imagination and that the guide is an actor and says that stuff to scare you deliberately, so I don't know but it seemed real at the time, lol.
Atheists :Science and Ghosts ? your thoughts ? " A chill in the air, low-light conditions and even magnetic fields may trigger feelings that "a presence" is in a room - but that is all they are, feelings ... ....They had to record any unusual experiences, such as hearing footsteps, feeling cold or a presence in the room, as well as marking the location and intensity of the experience on a floor plan..... .....The results were striking: participants did record a higher number of unusual experiences in the most classically haunted places of Hampton Court, areas such as the Georgian rooms and the Haunted Gallery. And in the Edinburgh vaults, the result was the same - the vaults considered most haunted were the locations where the most unusual encounters occurred during the study.... They claim, somewhat paradoxically, that the haunting exist but the ghosts do not. your thoughts ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3044607.stm Spiritualists interpret this as evidence that the ghosts are there, but another explanation is that the mediums are simply more sensitive to the environmental cues that result in haunted feelings - not sensitivity to the ghosts themselves.

How do I plan a 17-day trip to the UK? I have plans to visit sometime in May next year. But there are so many sites to visit they're driving me crazy! I'd like to visit any of the following sites: Stonehenge London Eye London Dungeons Aves bury Westminster Abbey Buckingham Palace Hyde Park Museum of Natural History The Parliament Building Tower of London and London Bridge any theater in West End (I'm planning to watch the play "Wicked") Roman ruins in Bath Hadrian's Wall Chillington Castle Glamis Castle Main buildings in Edinburgh Underground vaults in Edinburgh Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon In your opinion, how do I squeeze these sites w/in a two-week schedule? If it's not possible, which sites do you think I could forego? It would be my first time to travel in this country. I'm a bit of a literature buff and am obsessed with spook folklore. Thanks.

Does this plot seem okay for me to continue writing a book about? It concerns a young boy who grows up in an underground vault, 400 years after a devastating nuclear war. The boy longs to see the outside after studying it on the computers in the vaults. After many failed attempts to the vault officials to see the outside, his family are killed. A vault officials daughter helps him escape through a secret door. On his way out of the vault he kills a few guards (by this time he is 17) and gets out and sees how ravaged the land is and notices that an old jumper belonging to his father was on the ground a few feet from the vault entrance... The story is set in Edinburgh as well just for any additional information. I seen someone said it reminded him of City of Ember, I've never actually seen the film or read the book just in case people start accusing me of stealing ideas.
Which Haunted Castle would you go to? Who and what would you bring? Edinburgh Castle in Scotland- This magnificent castle is typically medieval, perched atop a rocky crag, giving it an amazing vista of Scottish hills. But inside the empty halls and narrow streets of Edinburgh, there are the echoes of the dead. At least, that's what has been reported. Hot spots for specters include the castle's prison cells, the South Bridge vaults and Mary's King Close, a disused street used to quarantine and eventually entomb victims of the plague. There are also reports of ghost dogs, a headless drummer, and the bodies of prisoners taken during the French seven-year war and the American War of Independence. In fact, there was such a glut of reports that in 2001, a scientific research team headed by Dr. Richard Wiseman, a psychologist from the University of Hertfordshire, set out to find quantitative proof. Bran Castle in Transylvania- In a remote corner of Carpathian Mountains in Romania, the tale of Count Dracula played out. The legend of the count dates back to the 15th century, and is based on Prince Vlad Tepes (Vlad, the Impaler) or Vlad Dracula (Vlad, son of the Dragon), a ruthless defender of Christianity. The Count is best known for routing an army of 20,000 attacking Ottomans, and impaling them, rectum to sternum, in surrounding forests. In this bastion of gothic architecture it is possible to retrace the journey of Bram Stoker's vampire hunter, Jonathan Harker, along the Bargau Pass and up to Dracula's infamous Bran Castle. Brissac Castle Loire Valley, France- This particular castle is as ornate and indulgent as French castles get. With seven floors and over two hundred rooms, no expense was spared for this Loire Valley marvel when it was rebuilt in 1633. Ceilings are painted with gold and the tapestry collection is breathtaking, as is the wood-carved furniture and columns made of glass crystal. It wouldn't be a bad place to live, except for the fact that it's haunted by the ghost of Jacques de Breze's wife, Charlotte, and her lover. Both were assassinated, and Jacque de Breze sold the castle right after their deaths. Legend has it he couldn't stand the nighttime moaning of the ghost lovers, while he slept alone.
