How high is the pole vault in high school?

I am a freshman in high school and I want to do pole vault. I need to know how high are the poles to jump over in high school.

1. Here's some data from NY... Boys heights start at 7' or so for JV, 10' for varsity. Top heights are in the 12-14' range. Girls heights start at 5' or so, and top at 9-10'. As a freshman, you should be prepared to struggle with all of the different elements in the first year. It is challenging. 2nd year vaulters are often able to make large improvements after a less than exciting first year. (also because the season is short) And remember - any vault where you land safely on the mats is a good vault;-) steve
