Safe Luxury

do you agree?

the virginia tech shooting was an absolute tragedy and i give my condolences to all of the students, friends and family members that lost someone that day. however, precautions should have been taken. my opinion is that is that faculty members should have been armed. long before this incident ever occured, teachers, councelors, ALL staff members should have been strapped with a firearm and should have been put through classes. some might say that that is a bad idea, some angry custodian or principal might have a bad day and go on a shooting spree, but i think one gun should be put in a sealed, locked vault in every room. then if the school is threatened by a shooter, there can be one code for every single vault and they can announce it. i know big schools such as that have intercoms. im 16 and there are only like 450-500 students at my school, and we have one. but any how, tell me what you think. sorry this is so long. love, kenzie

  1. I don't think EVERYBODY should have firearms, I believe the situation with the shootings was very unprepared. I mean, what's with that 2-hour difference between the two shootings. I think that lots of people should have firearms, but securely locked in a safe place.
  2. dude, i think that's an awesome idea! ok, im ten and my name's kenzi, too i may be young, but i have awesome opinions.... i think ;)
  3. no i don't agree at all..i go to a school with 3,000 kids and we had a HUGE bomb threat and only 15.6% of the students showed up that day but nothing happened..precautions could have been taken but not like that
  4. Well aside from having all of the teachers "strapped" as you say, it is illegal to with-hold a firearm in the East side of the U.S. Also, I agree that some measures could have been prepared for, and the security on the campus could have been more prepared with what has happened, but the fact of the matter is, is that not all people can conceal firearms, without a permit from the government, or if the person works for the police.
  5. the problem with the locked up gun idea is that if a student is able to get to it and uses it off campus the school can actually be held responsible. say if the gun is used and ditched without any finger prints the school and the teachers who had access to the gun would come under heat. the incident could have been handled better if the first shooting had been treated as more then a domestic disturbance. the first shooting was still on campus and the school should have shut down for the day. the university i go to actually had a bomb threat in a building and they evacuated the building and the one across the street i was in. we actually stood in the street twenty feet away. universities are horrible in handling severe situations
  6. How about simply allowing the Second Amendment do its job. That is why it was written. Had only one student or faculty been armed the outcome would have been different. You as an American Citizen are responsible for the safety of you and your family who can not defend themselves. To believe that the police, the government or the staff of your school or place of employment are going to be able to defend you is a grave mistake. For those who died and for those who are living through the trauma of VT, I am sorry that this part (and all, for those who died) of your life has been stolen. But do not blame society, do not blame the lack of gun control do not blame the school. I say this with a heavy heart, because I do feel for your pain and loss, but....blame yourself for not demanding that your Constitutional rights not be infringed upon. Criminals and governments will always have the ability to have guns or weapons. That is why the second amendment is their. To make sure that you have the right to defend your freedoms. That is from a tyrannical government or from a citizen bent on destruction. I am sorry for your loss, but I hope you decided to stand up for your rights and not falsely believe that society's laws will protect you from criminals.
  7. I think there wouldn't be enough time in a situation like that to react. But you have to look at it the other way around and question whether having a gun in a the classroom would potentially create more problems. What if the teacher is enraged and doesn't think or if he/she is suicidial and decides to kill. I honestly think the more GUNS and the more access people have to them would end up killing more people than it could save. - One example is how people keep guns in their house thinking it will protect them. But the kids find them and mess around with it and end up killing themselves or others. That's how my dad's friend died. I couldn't live if that happened my child. Also America significantly has more violence than other countries. Not everyone should carry guns. THINK ABOUT IT! Not everyone can handle it- the less educated, the aggressive, and even normal people. Anyone and everyone can go out of control. I guarantee if there where tougher restrictions on guns and on the terms there would not be as many murders.-that guy from the the Virgina school was not even a U.S. citizen!! How pathetic that some guy hands away guns like candy- I'm not saying everyone does, but there should be paperwork and training envolved. I love america but it scares me sometimes.
  8. I am not a proponent of universal firearms carrying, but, I think it would even the odds if one was able to shoot back.
  9. i too sympathise with the ones who lost their loved ones in the tragic and dreadful incident. well, arming the faculty or even the students isn.t necessary. i would suggest that there should be a good number of armed guards in the universities, schools, and colleges to prevent such incidents of violence to take place in future resulting in the deaths of innocent people. shoaib rafique pakistan.
