Home security in the Philippines?

I have never seen this topic discussed before, and am wondering why. Most people bring up their experiences with theft and burglaries in PH, then go on to post their warnings and advice on how not to stay safe or theft prevention. None however go on to talk about home security systems however. So... I was wondering shouldnt philippines have a home security company for burglar alarms that alert the company or police when a break in occurs? I should hope they have a few. If so anyone wanna list a few?

  1. we do have companies like that. look at this directory http://www.filipinolinks.com/Business_and_Economy/Security_Services_and_Detective_Agencies/index.html
  2. home security works best if you have a nice home or if you have a home suitable for home security.. and if people would avail of that, if there is any in the Philippines, only a few would have it. its very costly. another thing, our police is not as functional and useful as compared to other countries. they have this practice of coming to the crime scene an hour or so,after the culprits have left...
  3. Banks here have that kind of security system which alerts the nearest police station. That kind of home security can only be afforded by the rich. Or is only available in the business districts or gated villages. Some rich people just hire security guards to watch over their properties. But that doesn't mean you are still safe from theft syndicates. So if you are living in the middle class or lower income areas, you are on your own in establishing your sense of home security. You may rely on barangay watchmen or getting your own guard dog. Or buying pricey burglar alarms. http://www.clickthecity.com/shop/shoplist.asp?catid=9&subcatid=54
  4. home security?? most people in the ph are having problem putting food on the table, feeding their families, to whatever money we have left we try to spend it properly, like food, medicine, education and the costs of everyday living. Only a few people could afford such a security feature. For us unfortunate ones, our only home security is either a knife or a gun to someone who would dare to break in. its either kill or be killed. Police? nahhh, cops are useless! Thats reality here, sad but its true! Im just being honest.
  5. our home is in the province, 15 kilometers from the nearest town, all we have are three generations of native dogs (others call askals), our neighbor had two generation themselves. and considering the tarnished reputation our PH law enforcement, we felt safer with our three generations of askals.
  6. ASKAL !
  7. you don't need security guards! all you need is broken glass on top of the wall surrounding your house.
