Safe Luxury

Should I be concerned about my bank safe deposit box?

I am freaked out after the stock market "crash" yesterday. I have gold, silver, and significant amount of cash. Can banks even be trusted now? What about my my checking and savings accounts? Should I move pull out now. Is my home the safest now? I am extremely worried.

  1. I can only tell you that SDB are fire proof, homes are not. Leave what you have in your SDB. As far as your money in the bank we still have the FDIC insurance, leave your money in your acct. Good luck!!!
  2. You are more protected than 99.9% of the people out there. Good girl!
  3. It is never a good idea to keep all of your valuables in one place, even if that place is a bank. Many years ago (and even today) it was not uncommon for people to stash a few things in a metal can and bury it somewhere. I know that sounds crazy, but it's not crazy. Keep some of your stuff in your bank SDB. Keep some stuff in your home. Keep some stuff somewhere else. Spread your risk around because you NEVER know what is going to happen... no matter what the government or some people online say. Good luck.
  4. Stop watching so much TV. Your safe deposit box is fine. The contents remain your even if the bank fails. Your accounts are insured to $100K. Just make sure you don't exceed that amount in any one bank.
