  1. nail polish remover??
  2. clay bar it. I did this same thing the other day, I got some little black dots on my car, from spray painting, i guess the wind took the overspray. Took it out perfectly. DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER!!
  3. Buffing compound can safely remove surface paint spots as long as you don't rub it so long that you wear through your original paint. A clay bar is indeed a great solution, but you need to make sure you don't have any dirt or grit in it or on your paint in the area you are working in or else you will make scratches in it. You should use the clay bar with a pink liquid spray that is sometimes called "final inspection". It acts as a lubricant so that your clay bar will glide across the paint smoothly. Water with a little (just a few drops per quart) dish washing liquid mixed in will work too if you can't find the final inspection product. You can try rubbing alcohol, which does dissolve some, but not all paints. It won't hurt the car paint. Be aware that you will have to reapply wax to the area afterward because the alcohol will also remove the wax. You can also try a naptha-based solvent, which is safe for car paint, but will also remove wax.
