How would you bury an urn?
My Father bought a burial plot for himself including the grave stone but wants to be cremated when he passes away. My question is how do you go about burying an urn. I thought you put urns in a crypt, vault or spread the ashes. I have never heard of anyone burring an urn. Also how much would that cost and would you have to buy a casket to put the urn into before it goes into the ground or can you just bury the urn? I would appreciate any information you guys might have on this. Thank you

- nan was cremated and interred with grandad, who'd died many yaers earlier... she arrived, bless her, in a small casket, the grave diggers opened up a small hole, and we placed her inside and said a few words. it was all quite surreal, with no vicar, and no nothing else... but thats what happens when yor pig of an uncle is onnly interested in getting his hands on her money... and bugger all else...
- my mother was cremated. i buried her right next to my dad. we bought the....i don't even know what its called. the thing you put a casket in to keep it from rotting in the ground. but anyways, i put her urn in that thing and we buried it. i don't remember how much it cost, i was in such a weird place at that time.
- The Urn can be buried in the ground by the gravestone, this is common. Your funeral director should be able to organise this, and would be able to answer any questions you may have in regards to this.
- My parents were both cremated and their ashes buried next to each other with their own gravestones. The cemetary will sell plots for the remains of cremation as well as for full bodies. It is much cheaper to buy a plot for just ashes, it is what my parents wanted so we did it for them.
