Is it safe to have my home address on my web site?
I have a little business and a home office. I put my street address on my simple web site, which also has my photo. Is this safe? Or is it an acceptable risk? I'm wondering if I should remove the street address. Thank you.

- I'd remove the address.... business website or not, theres a lot of oddballs on the internet these days lol. If you need to have an address there for mailing purposes or something, maybe consider renting a PO Box from your local Post Office.
- I would just play it safe and take it off. Get a PO Box at your local post office instead.
- If you have clients coming around to the premise than it is a good idea to keep it on the website so they can locate you better but if your small business doesn't require clients coming around to your house then there is no real need for it. Alternatively you could always get a post office box number if you want to just display an address for clients to send you stuff. When you really think about it, it's as safe as your small business address in the phone directory.
- Better safe than sorry, remove it. There are a lot of freaks out there.
- Well I likely find out your home address without you putting on your website. If you go to http://www.whois.net/ and I look up the domain name of your website, it would normally show your address there, unless your got a deal that protects that data better. So it won't make much difference, but I would have used a P.O. Box myself for both the domain name and for business mail.
- Well, I suppose there is some risk involved, but even if you didn't put your address on the web site, someone who really wanted to find you could probably do it without too much trouble. The thing is, if you are running a business, you want to appear legitimate. If you fail to provide a physical address, it can look kind of shady. I normally won't do business with a company if they don't provide a physical address and a phone number on their site. I used to work for a friend of mine, and when he moved his business into his home, he put his home address on his web sites. Never had any problems that I know of.
- Is it safe to have my home address on my web site? Sure, why don't you give your home phone number and maybe your bank account and social security number while your at it. If you have children be sure to give their names out as well.
- You're safer getting a PO BOX and using that.
