Is drilling a hole into a wall with live a/c wires safe?

My stud sensor found live a/c wires on a wall, I would like to hang stuff on that wall, pictures, a shelf, and I need to drill holes to hang them. Is it safe? Or will I get fried?

1. you need to turn of the breaker for that room you're drilling and then do the drilling and just hope you never created a short in your wiring.
2. No, it is not safe and you could get fried or get one he** of a shock.
3. it should be safe if you don't drill more than one inch into the stud or through the wall. electrical code says wires need to be back at least 1 1/4 " from the dry wall.
4. good chance of getting fried like the colonel does chicken...I once (and only once) drilled into a wire in a wall...sparks flew, electircity poped, and i nearly wet my britches real good. i don't drill into walls anymore at all ever...like the raven sez"never more, never more!"
