What kind of gun would an armed security guard in a bank vault use if he caught a robber?

I am writing a movie script and need this detail. I do not know much about guns or security guards at banks.

  1. 9 mm is standard
  2. Go to your bank and ask the guard there.
  3. Either a 9mm semi-automatic or a .357 revolver.
  4. The kind his company issued him. Many different security companies, and many different banks. Some banks don't even arm their guards. There is no standard caliber as someone mentioned. The question is too vague.
  5. A loaded one. Most today use 9mm. I don't like them as a 380, I think, is a better choice for a small round. I think security is better off with the trusted and tried .45 for a movie script a 9mm will work due to availability. But if your guard is older like me he would have a .45 most model 1911.
  6. for true stopping power go with 40 cal unless you cant handle the recoil then a 9mm will do fine bet i would use hollow points just make shure it is a reliable gun
  7. I guess I'm still living in the Barney Fife era. Seems to me all the movies I watch...they all have the old revolver styled weapons!
  8. There are two basic types of handguns: - Revolver - Semi Automatic Most security guards use a revolver as they are simple to handle and less likely to jam than the semi-auto. If they used a revolver it could be many and here are a few models: Revolvers: - Smith and Wesson Model 10 .38 special - Smith & Wesson Model 25 .45 Colt Mountain Gun - Smith and Wesson Model 15 .357 Magnum (this or the Mountain gun would sound more exciting for your script). Semi- Automatic - Colt 1911 Combat Commander Pistol, 4012XSE - Smith & Wesson M&P40 Semi Automatic Pistol 209300, 40 S&W, Double Action Only - Smith & Wesson S & W 9 mm semi automatic
