Is it true that in the World Trade Complex's Basement Vaults 9Billion in Gold?
Before 9/11, I have seen reports that there was in the neigborhood of 9 Billion Dollars in gold bars. After the clean up they only found 700 million worth? Maybe it was an elaborate bank robbery? People have killed for alot less.

- There are rumors floating around - with wildly varying claims about how much is involved, which tells me that people are either mistaken or making things up. The owner of said metals has stated that nothing is missing, although there were reports of an *attempted* break-in about October 2001. I'd find some confirmed and specific reports before jumping to any conclusions. It wouldn't be the first 9/11 story that turned out to be hogwash.
- It is most definitely true that there were vaults located about 4 levels down in the basement of 4 World Trade Center which was the home of the Commodities Exchange (COMEX), the metals division of the NY Mercantile Exchange. It is also true that precious metals, including gold were stored down there by the Bank of Nova Scotia and other member banks. Whether or not there was "Billions" worth of gold seems to be a mystery to this day. I used to work at the WTC and had no idea there were vaults in the basement. I thought the only thing down there was the PATH trains that run to New Jersey under the Hudson River. There are some people who believe certain people knew the attacks were coming. One person called a Cincinatti radio station and reported that she saw flatbed trucks very early on Sept. 11 before the attacks being loaded with something but covered in tarps, and guards with machine guns blocking nearby streets. She stated the guards scared her away and she never went to work. It sounds a little far-fetched since hundreds of thousands of people worked there and in surrounding office buildings and nobody else seems to support that story. The vaults were not damaged during the first terrorist attack (bomb), although the bomb went off right next to them.
