Is there a programme that you can put your files into which act like a digital safe so to protect if stolen?
As I have been told windows XP security is weak. I concern that if my computer was stolen my files could be easily accessed. As I have been told windows XP security is weak.

- zip them, winzip and winrar both have options to password protect them.
- TrueCrypt
- Windows XP security (Encrypted File System) is NOT bad. However, it can be VERY dangerous to use. If your password needs to be reset (on a domain), or you change your password by other than CTRL+ALT+DELETE, there is a VERY good chance you will never be able to get to your data again. That is why it didnt become popular. I would consider looking into something that could be Data Encryption at Rest. DER encrypts this type of data in solid ways. I would also look at maybe an Encrypted Thumb Drive that could store this data. Edit - I would NEVER trust encrypting important data to WinZip or WinRar!
- The safest security files are available free from. . . . CRYPTAINER Cryptainer LE Free Encryption SoftwareThe recipient need not even have a copy of Cryptainer LE installed to decrypt the files.
