Any safe home remedies for solution of acid reflux for a 2 week old baby ?
My 2 week old baby is suffering from silent acid reflux. He is not able to settle at night at all as he keeps getting up every 10 mins and choking. He also cries a lot due to trapped wind I think as he keeps bunching his legs into his tummy. Anyone with any home remedies which can help ? I have been told that gripe water cannot be given before 4 weeks and other remedies-infacol, colief, gaviscon etc have too many side effects.

- Milk is the best thing to give them as it is alkaline. Babies that young cannot have cows milk so something like sma would be best.
- My physician told me gripe water or oval. This was before she was two weeks old and it worked. So i'm not sure where you getting your info?
- thicken his bottle to the consistancy of honey by using rice cereal. just make sure to buy cross cut nipples
- Are you mad! Take the baby to the doctors. Would you really give your baby a home remedy suggested by a stranger.
- if your baby has Acid Reflux try to give them water between feeds never give your baby more like than usual and make sure you leave 3hours for breast milk and 3.5hours for formula to settle before next feed as this can cause more problems for babies with AR, my son suffers from GERD which is a condition and one of the main symptoms of it is AR so keep an eye on your baby in case it is that, i have never found anything to help my son with his yet not even any of the meds, but try sugar water, half a tea-spoon in luke warm water this should help a little... hope you get some help soon if not contact your doctor who will be able to give you the best advice possible good luck PS never ever give a baby under 12months old honey as they can not digest it and can cause very serious problems!
- Keeping them elevated for 20 mintues after they eat might help. Gripe water can be given, you could also try Mylicon. Though those two are really used to help with gas. Also if you are bottle feeding changing the bottles might help. Also when they sleep keep their head a bit eleveated we did this with a pillow under our sons matress. My son also has Reflux. Nothing worked for him so they had to put him on Zantac twice a day and in between Mylanta to help with it.
- in the old times, home remedies were OK,but nowadays i wouldn't take the risk and i come form a long line of home remedies users try asking ur doctor to change the milk maybe? he can maybe prescribe something to keep it on the safe side he/she is only 2 weeks
- What side effects does the Infacol have? I'm sure I read on the bottle there are no known side effects? As for helping with the trapped wind, putting pressure on his belly may help. My son used to get relief if I laid him across my lap, or if I did a gentle massage.
