Could my contractions be taking a step up?

I was sent to the hospital for small contractions. Got sent home of course, never checked my cervix... Now Im having these hunger pains in my stomach...But Im not hungry, i just ate. Could this be my contractions heading north, and getting more frequent or what? Im also feeling nauseous. *ick* optional: Also have you ever checked your own cervix for dilation? (I've read many reviews from mid wives that it is safe") Oh, Im 35.5 weeks. ...I never said ungloved? and can you anwer the other question instead of picking the optional Q. and also whats the difference in fingering? lol I mean if you can fo it to check ovulation, self satifaction, and have a penis inside you...then how is it ne different? I know what contractions are. I've been having them since sunday. I was in the hospital for them.but ty anyway. Thanks camden!

  1. Its def. not safe to be checking your own cervix, ungloved, you risk introducing an infection in via your cervix, not good. Contractions usually start out feeling more like menstrual cramps, sounds more to me that maybe your one of the lucky ones that gets 3rd trimester MS, its not uncommon. All the umm "above acts" that you mentioned above doesnt actually "reach" the cervix like you need to to check for dilation. Its way far back and sometimes very high and unreachable almost.
  2. When you start getting closer you will feel period like cramping in your lower abdomen. Your whole belly will tighten as well and you could feel pain in your lower back. The contractions will start to get closer together and longer. Light contraction here and there are just braxton hicks. I would not check your self for dilation. Do you know what you are checking for? Your doctor will probably start checking at your weekly appts. starting at 36-37 weeks. CONGRATS!
  3. I'm not sure if they could be getting worse or not. As, I havent made it that far yet! I know checking your cervix for ovulation is safe, but i have heard its not safe during pregnancy. With a glove or not. Without of course does bring on infection. But anyway, i wouldnt advise it. Plus if it was me, I wouldnt have a clue how to tell if i was dialated at all! Best of luck though!
  4. Well, I am sort of wondering the same thing myself. Today is my due date for my second child and every little pain I feel I wonder if its a contraction. But here is what I remember from my first. Your contractions will start out feeling like Menstrual cramps. Eventually and sorry if this is tmi but then they will feel like really bad cramping gas pains. If you start having them 5 mins apart for like an hour call your doctor or labor and delivery. As for checking your own cervix? I dont know I suppose you can but Im not sure if i would know how to tell how dilated I was. You should get checked at your next doctors appt. If they dont then ask them to do so. Hope this helps!
