Is it safe to drink this much coffee while pregnant?
Is it safe to drink this much coffee while pregnant? I usually drink two before leaving for work. One during my lunchbreak at Starbucks. One or two before my kick boxing/kickboxing dance class. Then, I get home and drink two more before going to my night classes. I come back, sleep. Call my friends and my mom. Grade papers ( am a teacher) Go to sleep.

- No, that is way too much caffeine. My dr. said at the most I could have 2 cokes/coffees per day, but even then I limited my caffeine intake to maybe 3-4 cokes per week.
- I already answered this,. LOL I said its not safe to consume more than two cups. It can cause miscarriages in some women. Why do you keep re-posting this? LOL
- I would say no. Caffeine is a drug. My doctor told me no more than an 8 oz. cup of coffee a day, if it's a must.
- NO CAFFINE WHILE PREGNANT CAUSES MISSACRRIGES!!!
- I think that sounds like a bit much. I was told not to have more than 2 caffeinated beverages a day at the most. You might want to pare it down a bit. :]
- 5 cups a day? Are you seriously trying to harm your baby? Cut the caffeine intake by 3 cups. You can not have that much to keep you going. Your going to be tired, your pregnant. Get use to it. You need to be very, very careful. You need to talk to your doctor about your insane caffeine intake!
- No honey :[ YOu are not supposed to have more than three cups a day. The reason why is because it raises the heart rate of the baby, causing decreased oxygen to the growing babies lungs. Cattle that were given caffeine in high amounts like that had smaller babies, and more birth defects.
- My OB said no more than two 8-oz cups of coffee per day. One of the main reasons to avoid caffeine while you are pregnant is because your baby feels the effects of the caffeine much longer than you do (sometimes upwards of 96 hours). Their little systems cannot process it out as fast as ours does, so you need to limit, if not eliminate, as much caffeine as possible from your diet. Keep in mind that coffee and sodas are not the only sources of caffeine we may intake regularly: chocolate, tea, energy bars, and many other foods and beverages contain this chemical. If you're eating/drinking other things that contain caffeine other than the coffee you mentioned, you may be exposing your baby to even more than you think! Please discuss this concern with your OB. Good luck to you!
