Is it safe to ship a Canon digital SLR camera that I buy online?
I'm getting it from Amazon.com, but I've heard that bumping and rough shipping can knock the parts out of alignment and produce poorer quality photos...

- It is safe, Amazon.com have return policy. If you get it with not good condition you can return and I found both reviews happy with amazon's service. http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26rs%3D3017941%26ref%255F%3Dsr%255Fnr%255Fp%255F4%255F1%26bbn%3D3017941%26qid%3D1241643518%26rnid%3D15784691%26rh%3Dn%253A502394%252Cn%253A281052%252Cn%253A3017941%252Cp%255F4%253ACanon&tag=computer0bd-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
- They are shipped all around the world from distributor to distributor, it will be fine. Not to mention you should always thoroughly inspect a package once it has been delivered, and don't ( if at all possible ) let the delivery man leave untill you have done so. Basically as long as it is being shipped from a reputable retailer It should be packaged well. I would be a bit skeptical of private sellers though, some tend to just throw it in a box and ship it ground across the country uninsured to save a few bucks.
- it is fine don't worry about it
- Sure, it's safe. I bought Canon T1i - fast shipping!
- Don't worry. It'll be fine. I ordered my EOS Rebel XT from Amazon.com and it came in perfect condition. Amazon also puts these air pack thingies to fill up the extra space. The early photos on my Flickr are from the XT, and as you can see, there isn't anything wrong with the pictures. (Flickr.com/pixelstudiosphotovideo) And image quality matters a lot on the lens, the camera does matter to, though, but the lens is more important.
- Uh, how else are they going to get it to you? I don't imagine you want to pay them to hand deliver it. I've probably bought 20 "delicate" electronic items in the last 5 years and never had a problem.
