Is wall mounting your HDTV safe and stable?
I've been wanting to wall mount my 46" LCD on my wall to free up room on my entertainment center, but I've always been frightened by the thought of it falling off the wall and crashing down in pieces. If properly installed, will I ever have to worry about it falling? Personal experience, negative or positive, appreciated. Thanks in advance.

- no but that's why theres ppl for that so it dosent happen.. me and my fiancee did that and we had ppl install it because he said that theres certain things that are needed to be done...so i would probably say get it done by a proff.
- I have a 50" plasma on my wall for the last 2 years, but had the same queries when wall mounting. According to the engineer i had in to do my TV, It really depends on the type of wall you want to mount it on. Brick walls are not a problem at all to mount on. If your house is a newer house, that uses plasterboard in the walls, generally it will not be suitable for such a large screen. However, there are TV engineers out there that do not mind mounting on these types of wall, as long as you let them re enforce it. the engineer that put my TV up did this by using a spray that expands within the wall. Everythings been fine so far!
- call best buy and they will send out pros who can mount it safely. if you mount it safely and properly, there is no chance it could be dangerous.
- A 46 inch LCD weighs less than 100 pounds. The bracket they use to mount it just has to be rated at more than that (usually 1.5 or 2 times the actual TV weight) and it should be fine. The bracket mounts to the wall using four lag bolts (thick, coarse threaded bolts) that drive into the studs inside the wall. And the TV attaches to the mount using metal bolts that are designed to support the weight. If mounted properly to the studs, the TV should never be in danger of falling off the wall, except for in the most severe of earthquakes. They also make articulating arm mounts that allow the TV to swing out away from the wall. I've heard of people having a lot of problems with these, especially if you get one that's less than about $500. The biggest problem is that the weight of the TV eventually causes it to tilt to one side a bit when the TV is extended out. I would be very wary of using all but the beefiest (and most expensive) articulating mounts. I have a TV that I wanted to mount in a corner and the only way to mount it onto the wall was to use an articulating mount. And, I would still have to have an equipment rack below it for the electronics. So, instead of mounting it to a wall, I got a corner stand that mounts the TV about 4 feet off the ground on a couple of long square tubular posts. This worked perfectly, although, I can't swing the TV around to a different angle. Check out this place. This is where I got the stand. They have free shipping and no tax, and the shipping took about 3 days to get the stand to my house. http://www.standsandmounts.com/
- All my TVs been on walls, if mounted correctly it will not fall.
- Don't worry, you won't have any problem mounting then on the wall. Hopefully you got a name brand tv like Sumsang, Panasonic, or Sony and not off brands like Insignia, Element etc.
