Is Moreno Valley a safe place to raise a family?
I currently live in a very nice part of Long Beach, but we have recently sold our house to live in a cheaper city. I went to Corona, and parts of it didn't look so bad, but it still didn't look nearly as safe as where I live now. I am 26 weeks pregnant, and when looking at the neighborhoods that our realtor brought us to, I just can't see myself safely going for walks with my newborn baby. I was seriously preparing on buying a gun, putting up bars on the windows, and telling my boyfriend to take his new rims off his car so it doesn't get stolen. I know that people steal cars with rims and sell the rims and abandon the car, I know because it happened to my boyfriend's brother, and he may not live in a city like mine, but it's defenently much nicer than Corona. Also, I read a lot of reviews on here and they didn't sound so good. I looked up a lot of beautiful homes in Moreno Valley, for much cheaper than Corona, and I was wondering is that would be a better place to raise a family? I also found a few nice houses in Riverside, most of them in gated communities, are there nice parts of Riverside that are still close to the freeway?

- If you want Moreno Valley, you need to try to stay North of the 60 freeway. The unfortunate thing about Moreno Valley is that a lot of parents of gang bangers moved there thinking they would take their kids out of the bad environment..problem is, these kids all found eachother, and you have the same inner city problem they came from!!! That, at least, was my experience living in Moreno Valley over 17 years ago. Moreno Valley is inexpensive, because of the commute time it takes to get to a decent job in Orange or LA county. It may have changed, as far as job opportunities there, but, most people who live in the inland empire commute for hours a day on that 91 freeway. I wouldn't do that again if you GAVE me a house out there! Yes, there are nice areas and houses in MV and Riverside, Corona etc. Look up the crime reports on the web for the street you are looking to buy. That will tell you whether there are a lot of car thefts etc. It is going to definately be a huge change going from Long Beach ( we owned a house in California Heights ) to Riverside county. http://www.crimereports.com
