Is a Kidco Peapod safe for a newborn?

Im traveling to Idaho 2 weeks after the birth with my husband to go home and I have no idea what to take my playpen or this little thing to save room? What do yall think? I am going to take both no matter what but I bought a positioner that has 4 positions on it so I will have that too to keep him in place. Here is a link of it I just can not find reviews for newborn ones. http://www.kidco.com/main.taf?p=4,5 Please tell me what you think. I am a new mom and very worried and willing to buy anything for this little guy I think I have bought all I can for a baby though lol. Thank you in advance! One Im not sure how we can do that cause we have 2 large dogs and I do not want the baby getting to used to sleeping with us he will sleep right next to us tho. Plus we will be on an air mattress and I don't want him flying around and three my husband and I move alot in bed and would roll on him Im sure. IM NOT LETTING MY CHILD SLEEP WITH ME!!!!!

  1. Please don't let a newborn baby sleep with you. Crib death is on the rise because co-sleeping is on the rise, and having "convenient nursing" is NOT worth your childs life.
  2. Personally, I wouldn't use the Peapod. I know little about the product although I tried to find information regarding it's safety, I found next to nothing. I would not use an inflatable mattress for an infant as it is generally recommended not to put infants on air mattresses. My other worry is the restriction of air flow in such a device. Also the product is seemingly made from pvc and would contain volatile compounds. These toxins and gases have been linked to SIDS in some studies (although there are some studies disputing such findings, others supporting the research etc). I wouldn't feel comfortable about using this bed for my own children but of course that is just my personal preference. I'd use a baby hammock. I'm not sure if that is something which you would be inclined to use but there are a variety available (search on google) and many would be very easy to pack as they can either be on a stand or can hang from a hook etc. It may be an alternative to think about?
