Is it safe to open a digital camera?
I took my camera to the beach and sand got stuck in the zoom lense and i can't get it out. I want to open the camera to get the sand out. Would it ruin the camera if I open it?

- As long as you know how yo put it back together your fine
- No it isn't. They're designed to break when you take them apart, that way you can't break your camera intentionally and get them to repair it at their cost. The cost to repair will probably be more than it's worth. Consider buying a new camera.
- The best thing to do is to wash it with water....I know you'll freak out but all cameras can with stand little water even if u dip it in a lake for 5 sec. If perhaps it doesn't work anymore then never simply follow my method. Good luck
- In my opinion, do not make any attempt on that if you are not skilful or trained for that. Send it to the service man, and they can do a better job than you.
- buy a new one will better than repair it .be careful with sand ,
- Yes, as long as you know what you are doing. Once opened, do not disassemble anything you think you can not reassemble (which basically applies to the lens system). After opening, you may find out that the actual lens is behind a thin glass or plastic cover which forms part of the case. I would guess that the sand would be in between this cover and the actual glass lens used for taking the picture. If I'm wrong, ouch!
- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN UP YOUR CAMERA - You would totally screw up the camera so bad that the camera would that it would become worthless and without a camera permanently which means that you would have to go out and get a brand new camera where the cost to put the camera back together would be greater what it is really worth. Your best bet is to bring your camera to someplace to have it professionally cleaned instead attempting to get the sand out yourself.
