Is the ink on boxes safe for gerbils?

I was wondering if the ink on cerial boxes, cigeret carton, ect. are safe for gerbils to chew on. Is the ink on egg cartons safe too? Is computer paper safe for them to chew? Any other ideas of stuff for them to chew? Also, I'm looking for some good home made toys for gerbils. I know you can use toilet paper rolls, but is there anything else i can make? A LOT OF IDEAS PLEASE! Thanks!

1. are you jokeing NO cigaret carton, the stench inside will kill it otomatically. yes but you can use egg cartons and toilet paper rolls. and no just plain paper either. use random boxes that you have that your trowing away. like shoe boxes (but you can make it smaller). and yeahhh. be careful with your little guy. he is so small yiou knoe? please take good care of the little guy. i love myn!!!
2. Ink on food boxes is safe for gerbils. I wouldn't give cigarette carton to a gerbil (residue would be left on the box). Egg cartons are okay as long as there is no residue. I wouldn't use computer paper, but uncolored tissue paper and packing paper is safe. Unscented and colored toilet paper is safe also. Wood is really good for gerbils too. Plus, it lasts longer. Fruit woods are safest.
3. When I had mine i would get shoe boxes and any other box I could find I i would make little houses and raps and tunnels.He LOVED it :) NOTE: the tunnels where toilet paper rolls tapped together.
