What is the fastest,Safes, browser for the Mac?

I am trying to find the fastest and safest browser for my mac. I know that the mac currently has no viruses, but I want a browser that won't download a virus on my computer when I download programs from the internet such as Skype. Should I just stick to safari?

  1. I like Firefox
  2. if you're on a mac you are safe already.. firefox is great lot's of available plugins, it's also safe as long as you dont install adware toolbars.. make sure you don't download firefox 3.5 (stick with firefox 3.0 ) there's a Highly Critidal security hole.. http://www.joenelumal.com/firefox/highly-critical-security-issue-in-firefox-3-5/index.html you can also try opera or camino..
  3. Go with Firefox 3.0. Also, on a side note: Anyone who tells you that a Mac cannot get a virus is full of it. The Mac's are as prone to getting a virus as a Windows-toting computer; the only difference is the amount of users, so statistic wise it looks like all Windows computers get tons of viruses. So get Firefox 3.0 and turn on the pop-up blocker and install the latest updates for it. You'll be more than safe. Hopefully this answers your question! Cheers.
  4. Fastest? Safari. Safest? Either Safari or Firefox. Just last week I did a side-by-side speed test with Safari, Firefox, and Opera. Opera was downloading at about 980kb/s, Firefox was about 1250kb/s and Safari was about 1460kb/s - I was shocked: I thought FireFox would be fastest. As far as safety, any malware that affects Macs require you to enter your Admin password in order to run. They aren't able to auto-run like on a Windows PC. As long as you ONLY type in your Admin PW when you know for sure it's a safe program. Enjoy!
  5. Safari and Firefox are BOTH fast and safe. Firefox probably has less compatibility issues with various websites, since it's a popular browser on Windows too. I would recommend downloading Firefox if you haven't already. Try them both out, read the help files to learn about the features and things you can do. Then just use the one you like best :) If you stick with Safari, I recommend keeping Firefox on your computer for when you run into compatibility issues. Safari is good though.
