Safe Luxury

Does this plot seem okay for me to continue writing a book about?

It concerns a young boy who grows up in an underground vault, 400 years after a devastating nuclear war. The boy longs to see the outside after studying it on the computers in the vaults. After many failed attempts to the vault officials to see the outside, his family are killed. A vault officials daughter helps him escape through a secret door. On his way out of the vault he kills a few guards (by this time he is 17) and gets out and sees how ravaged the land is and notices that an old jumper belonging to his father was on the ground a few feet from the vault entrance... The story is set in Edinburgh as well just for any additional information. I seen someone said it reminded him of City of Ember, I've never actually seen the film or read the book just in case people start accusing me of stealing ideas.

  1. Wow, sounds very interesting. Definitely something Robert Harris fans would enjoy. ^^
  2. wow! sound rlly good! definelty conitnue!
  3. It sounds really good so far! I'm a little confused about the vault officials intentions...and what the boy plans to do once he's out of the vault, but it's a story that I would defiantly like! :)
  4. It sounds a lot like City of Ember (only saw the movie, so I don't know if the book is any different). That's not necessarily a bad thing, but you might want to try putting your own twist on it to make it a bit different. EDIT: Then again, City of Ember is not the only story that deals with the aftermath of a global war, nor the only one where people have hidden in underground bunkers while the radiation fell to survivable levels. It was just the most recent one I've seen.
