Is it safe to connect a regular TV to a digital cable line?

I found some info that Digital cable provider has some analog channels in the low VHF (around 4-10) range and I have a set without a box and also a TV card in my PC. So I want to know if I can just connect it directly to the cable line instead of a box to pick up the analog channels or will the irregular signal mess with the TV. OK..I'll try it..I don't want to get a box for every set and my PC!
