- You should keep the rabbit in a cage when you go out just in case. But if you want them to get along together introduce them when the labrador is at a young age and supervise them when they are near each other. Good Luck :( P.S. make sure the pen/cage is locked and tall enough for them to not jump over it
- Kepp the rabbit in the cage - like a rabitat or a cubes and coroplast cage that the dog cannot get to. Rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small furry animals look like great play things to dogs. Its not that they want to hurt them as much as they want to play. My dog typically ignores the guinea pigs - but sometimes when I carry them she thinks they are her play things. I just tell her that they aren't hers, and she sits down and ignores them. But you want to watch the dog and make sure she/he doesn't climb on the cage and stuff. It's safe as long as you keep them apart. The rabbit won't be able to roam the house outside very much unless the dog is put in a room or crate.
- At our home we have two rabbits 1 year and 4 months old and a labrador abt 6 years old. The rabbits play on top of the lazy dog when he is lying down, niblle into into its tails and ears and tease him in all possible ways.Only resistance from the dog if at all , is a long lick to tickle the naughty rabbits away! We also had a white rat earlier who died of natural causes, he was a good friend of the dog. Please be rest assured that it is perfectlt safe situation. No need cages and all. In your scenario you would probably have a Lab puppy to grow up with the rabbit, I can foresee some trouble you would have to take care of the sadness/depression experienced by your dog when the rabbit dies!
- it will have to depend on the dogs temperment. labs are very sweet dogs. if you introduce them at a young age that should help. always keep your bunny in its cage when your not suppervising though!!! better save then sorry right?
