- In the UK we are not allowed to know anything about who is in our area. People have campaigned for years to get a similar law passed here...but the government dont agree at all. Why must they protect the freaks? Why dont they just lock them up and throw away the key? I dont believe in rehabilitating these people....it never works and they always reoffend.
- yes
- mind you that the information you see is not the entire picture. due to the fact that these "sex offenders" are listed is useful to ensure that you aren't sending your kids over to the friendly neighbor next door for babysitting is a bad thing it does not necessarily mean that they're out to get you or your children. they could have done a sex crime years ago but most sex crimes require a lifetime registration requirement. it's almost like branding them... remember the stars jews had to wear to identify them as jews... that what it's like. Once a sex offender, always a sex offender. no chance for a normal life. you do not pass go, you do not collect $200. Also it could have been the bad uncle scenario where they inappropriately touched someone related (or was accused of touching someone and had a bad lawyer) and is now on that list for molesting someone of which they'd never do again (many states have a 2 strikes and your out law) so it's not really useful because you're only looking out for the obvious dangers, what happens when the drive by stalkers just follow kids. do you really think that your neighborhood rapist/kidnapper will patrol HIS neighborhood looking for his prey where he's most likely to be recognized and his car known? no... he'll go 10-20 miles out of his way to ensure nobody could identify him if he is seen. just be careful as was always the recommendation and go home in groups as often as possible or try and get someone to pick you up at school if you have to stay late for band/activities/events. so the short answer is I'd say no, I don't want to exclude sex offenders because muderers aren't any less of a threat and they don't have to register in any of the 50 states. those websites are almost useless to those involved. and that is my 2 cents worth.
