Ladies, well Gents too if you like, how safe is your handbag when?
You visit the toilets? A lady from Nottingham used the toilets in her local supermarket and hung her bag on the hook behind the door only to see it being swiped over the top within seconds! It took her a little time to get out of the loo and give pursuit but bag and thief gone. A couple of days later the manager of the supermarket phoned to say they had her bag and when would she come to collect it? She turned up to meet a very puzzled man who knew nothing about the call and yes, when she got home her house had been burgled with the keys from her bag. Will you keep your keys in your bag and id showing your home address from now on - or what safety measures will you put in place that we can share? Edit:- Sorry the question is so long but i think worth asking. xx Fareisha, that's how that person 'earns' her living - it's got to have been a woman in the ladies toilets? Divasue, the floors sometimes aren't very nice though are they? Yeuch! Excuse me!! Who's thumbing Steph down and why? Come on - own up. Right people - we now have to watch out for someone resembling Filya wearing a red nose - that will NOT be easy!

- I never carry anything with my address on it. Not out of safety, I just don't carry a lot of stuff. I'd never leave my bag on the hook of a bathroom door though. I've heard of that a few times (not the house part!) so I keep my bag on me. Not the easiest way, but the safest. Never leave your bag where someone can nab it.
- It certainly is worth asking and as a result of your question I shan't be hanging my bag on the door anymore. I did so today in Sainsburys and also in Nottingham. I have noticed recently that Asda have taken the hooks off the doors in the toilets and felt rather cross but now I see why they may have done so. Many thanks for highlighting this issue.
- I think the situation that happened is very rare. I will continue to keep my keys in my bag because that's what a bag is for. There's always something likely to show my identity in my bag too like my licence. It just shows that you should protect your bag more. I really can't comprehend how someone managed to snatch it so quickly from over a toilet door. I have a suggestion ladies. Why not put our bags on the tank? If that's what it's called. The part that is behind you anyway, where you flush it. It's the safest and cleanest place i can think of.
- Something I have thought about if I put my bag on the floor in the toilet (thinking someone might whip it from under the door), that's why have always hung it on the hook. Now is shall keep it over my shoulder as awkward as that will be. I always put my keys in my pocket in case my bag is stolen which I think is good advice to share.
- She should have changed the locks on her front door first of all after her bag and keys were stolen. That's just common sense. I think shes just been very unlucky. I always keep my keys in my bag and I sometimes hang my bag up in the loo.Or I will pop it on my lap or hang it over the lock bit Shes just been unfortunate
- OMG Wow thats some scam! Theres nowt in my bag but a few odd socks and manky makeup. I always keep my keys in my coat pocket.
- oh God i always hang my bag up ( i have a bag fetish ) thanks for the warning i would have to kill them if they touched my bag ! x
- Thanks for the question, I have never heard of this before. I never put my bag on the floor as I have heard of bags being taken from under the door or even from the adjoining toilet. I never leave my bag for a minute, I have a small shoulder bag, never take it off when out, I do not wear it over one shoulder but over my head and across if you see what I mean and nowadays wear my coat over the bag in town, a little awkward but safer. I have now heard that you can buy shoulder bags with thin steel through the strap as bag snatchers are using knives to cut the strap to get at shoulder bags I would love to know where I could buy one. By the way do not leave your bag for a second in a shop, my friend had hers stolen in a shoe shop, she turned away for a second and it had gone.
