There's something wrong with my computer at home, it won't start up, can someone help me?

It keeps coming up with this: We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked. If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren’t sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally. Safe Mode Safe Mode with Networking Safe Mode with Command Prompt Last Know Good Configuration Start Windows Normally None of the options work, it just goes back to the message. How can I get it to start up?? I need it to work, it's got all of my coursework on there. It's Windows XP. Thanks

  1. its too difficult to sort out. ask pc world or engineer tosort it out
  2. Get your XP CD. Get your PC to boot from the XP CD. Follow the installer until it gets to the partitioning section. At that point it will detect XP is already on the hard disk. AT THAT POINT choose "Repair". Sorted.
  3. please ask to computer hardware engineer it is good
  4. How about you call GeekSquad from BestBuy or FireDog from Circuit City to fix your computer. But you may have to pay a couple hundred dollars. They come over to your house and fix it right in front of you. I would recommend the professionals, especially if you did not recently back up your files. Better safe than sorry.
  5. check the plug where the computer is connected 2, check everything on the computer 2. that's what happen to my cousin computer a plug was mess up (y am i saying this) well i make no sence
  6. Thats why I switched to Macintosh. Just keep trying to start it normally. It could fix itself. But usually you have to stick the Windows disk back in, and just do an upgrade, so that none of your files will be deleted. Don't erase your disk when you reinstall Windows. Here, read the repair install instructions. http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
  7. Firstly, don't panic! You're Coursework files should all be fine, as long as you avoid 'formatting' the hard drive if someone was to reinstall Windows, then your coursework should all be there for you. I have experienced problems similar to what you've described before, and it's generally because of a virus that the Windows installation has become corrupt. This means that Windows can't boot up properly and therefore explains why you're getting the 'Advanced Boot Options' when you turn on your computer. The best thing you could do is take your computer down to your local repair shop and ask them to make a clean install of Windows on your computer. However, remember to ask them to make a full backup of all your files so you don't lose your coursework. Good luck, and I hope my advice helps.
  8. It sounds as though one of your System files has become corrupt. If you have a rescue disk (I trust you made one when installing XP) use that to try to overwrite the dodgy files. If not, use the XP install disk and, when the option comes up, choose 'repair'. If you have neither of these available, you could try buying an XP rescue disk from the internet. Some auction sites have them available for less than £5 good luck :~} (By the way, a clean install of XP will delete EVERYTHING from the system and only have the items that come with XP itself) Borrow a copy of XP (full installation) and choose 'repair' when it comes up - its by far the best way.
  9. First, I would call the Company that made your PC. They should be able to help you with this. If you try clicking onto any of the options the screen displays, are you able to click onto ANY of them? Pls. IM me or email me back, asap, ok? IM me at: singsalot51@yahoo.com. Same addy is fur my email. Bye fur now, and pls. let me know one way or another, ok?
  10. I am familiar with this problem. First thing I suggest is back up your harddrive if possible. If you don't know how, you can have somebody do it for you. Next, I would try installing the OS again WITHOUT FORMATTING. If you FORMAT, you will lose all you data on harddrive. If you do not feel safe doing this, again, have someone you trust do it. After re-installing OS, if problem remains, you will have to FORMAT!
  11. XP CD. -- boot from the XP CD. --When it asks for an installtion or repair..choose repair...give password....u will get something like this C:/> write FIXBOOT on the prompt and press enter ..reboot with CD...
  12. hai iam giving the suggestion which i know.To this problem the main reason is that the operating system is out of date . so load windows again my taking the software from your friends or from any your dealer where you bought your system.ok. Bye
  13. You can try this: Unplug all your detachable hardwares like CPU, RAM, VGA, HARD DISK then clean them (vacuum cleaner is the best choice) Plug them in and power on If this does not solve the problem, try repair window. In the worst case that you have to reinstall XP, you can use a Hirent Boot CD to boot, use window95 on the hirent CD to copy all your data to a safe partition (all your data in the partition where you reinstall window XP will be lost) Then you can insert the window xp to install a fresh copy Good luck
  14. Please be very carefull, alot of the advice you have been offered here is bad and could result in the loss of your data. To be honest if you dont know what to do from here you need to take it to a pro, there are a number of reasons this message could come up, ranging from a simple driver issue to problems with the Hardrive its self.
