If this screen appears again follow these steps Disable or unistall any anti virus disk, defragmantation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive confuguator and check for any updated drives Run CHK DSK/F To check for Hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. < But I can't log onto windows, as soon as I turn computer on, and select a way to start it up, it just restarts Any help? - format the whole pc. insert Xp disk in the drive and boot the disk hit repair or do a clean installation.
- most likely, a virus attacked and rendered your os unusable. if you can't even boot into safe mode, the only option i can think of is to reinstall your os. if you want to salvage your files, you must detach your hard disk, put it in an enclosure or make it a slave in another computer and copy all the files from there before reinstalling.
- Go buy the book Windows for Dummies..no offense or borrow one at the Library.Do you have a virus protection running? Sounds like you need to wipe your hard drive clean, sorry but there are a few options to try first,it would take too long to go over them here.Just get the book- it will tell you some DOS commands- that's what youw ill need to do.Before Windows there was Dos- it is still in your P.C. and you can work it.Good Luck
- you need to find yourself a bootable disk that can read NTFS systems. a copy of the windows XP install cd will work, it doesn't have to be your own or even the same version, also this is a legal approach if you're concerned. boot from that CD into the recovery console. run chkdsk /p from this screen, let it finish, remove the cd and restart the computer. 75% of the time, this clears you right up. Sorry I can't give you better odds. the problem is that your computer has a corrupt registry. It's most likely caused by an improper shutdown or shaking the computer while it's running damaging the hard drive. This can be bad if the chkdsk thing doesn't work. worst case scenario is that you have to replace the hard drive and reinstall windows. the good news is that many of your files should be easily recoverable, but not your programs (again, this is worst case scenario) if chkdsk /p doesn't work, you'll have to remove the hard drive and manipulate some files. what you want to do is connect your drive to another computer and make backup copies of windows\system32\config\ before continuing, run chkdsk /r on the drive first for good measure. now backup the following 5 system files (there are no extensions and they may have hidden or system attributes) sam system security default software then replace these files with files of the same name from the i386 directory from the windows install cd. put your hard drive back and start it up. this will fix you, but you will need to reinstall your other software.
- My friend , that is the worst error in the XP buisness. !!! { Horrible error } this error has no plausible cure other than re installation The error occurs when your PC ' s system files got badly damaged and corrupted. The computer , when accessing these files gets into a haywire mode and the blue screen comes Up. there is no way around it . Cure : Reinstall Windows XP
- Format C: and reinstall windows. If it still doesn't work your harddrive is probably dead. Then you will need to buy a new harddrive a reinstall windows. If you aren't technically inclined and live in RI I can fix it for a fee (a lot cheaper than bestbuy or other stores). Send me an email if you are interested.
