  1. I think you can restore the computer by pressing F11 or something like that. then you just follow the directions on the screen.. You have to hit the F11 key when you are booting up.
  2. you got the blue screen of death. if you do not know what you are looking at take it to someone who can start it in safe mode to try and correct the errors.
  3. This is the website/source I recommend to people with blue screen of death issues. Hope it helps you =)
  4. Unmountable boot volume means either you have a virus, a bad hd, a corrupted OS, or your mb cant talk to your hd. First make sure your hd is plugged in to data and power cables firmly, somethimes these work loose. Usually it is that your mb is set to boot off of USB and youve got an "all in one printer", external hd, a camera or ipod plugged in. Unplug everything. then try to boot. Run dell diagnostics on the harddrive and the motherboard. If it is a bad HD or mb, dell will replace it. If they both pass, it may the file system is damaged. Try to 1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted. 2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. 3.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console. 4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER. 5.At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER. 6.At the command prompt, type exit , and then press ENTER to restart your computer. This takes a bit longer, but the system should boot, then back p your data then do a full control f11 "restore to factory condition". If the above process fails to restore the system then in the number#5 step, type "fixboot", no quotation marks instead of the "chkdsk /r" command.
