How can I get rid of OCD in video games?

I've had OCD for a few years now, and it's gotten to the point where I can't enjoy anything if my compulsions aren't satisfied. Since I play a lot of video games I sometimes develop obsessions in some games, and if I try to ignore those obsessions they just keep coming back. For example in the beginning of the game Fallout 3 you start off in a vault, and eventually escape from the vault. I've developed an annoying obsession of having to do every single thing perfectly in the first part of the game or else my mind won't let me enjoy the rest of the game. Fallout 3 is a large game with a lot of areas to explore, and it pisses me off that I have to restart the entire game just because I didn't do something right in Vault 101. Is there any way I can get rid of these obsessions without having to constantly restart the game?

  1. Im kind of the same. If i get an idea into my head, then im not satisfied until i fix something or that idea goes away. The best thing to do (i know it can be hard and i know the feeling of things naggin at you but..) tell yourself that nothing is wrong with how you played it or vault 101 and nothing bad is going to happen. The game isnt going to melt and the console isnt going to explode. Lol i know that sounds ridiculous but it actually helps, it gives you a sense of relief. So, whenever you make a 'mistake' in vault 101 just tell yourself that the game doesnt care, the console doesnt care, the characters don't care (lol) so you shouldn't care either. Eventually if you keep doing this itl become a way of dealing with it and eachtime it enters your mind youl be able to deal with it. Or you can just tell yourself 'enough' and get on with what you were doing. Eventually after telling yourself 'enough' many times you will stop or it will get easier. Don't give up :)
