hi My friends laptop (the aforementioned make and model) is buggered! Well thats my technical term anyway! Upon start up, your given a choice to either load normally or load in safe mode..in normal mode it gets so far as the screen with the microsoft scrollbar then restarts itself. in safe mode, it comes to a gray screen and a box comes up titled "System Recovery Options" and inside is says "The installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer." I googled the issue and came with pressing F9 on startup. when i do so, and press enter to chose the Vista option, then it just restarts itself. If from that screen i press F8, i then have different options: Repair your computer, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt, Enable boot loggin, Enable low res video, last known Good Configeration (advanced), Directory services Restore Mode, Debugging mode, Disable automatic restart on system failure, Disable Driver signature enforcement and finally Start windows normally.... So, clicking on Repair your computer comes up with the grey screen and the system recovery options, safe modes just restart it as does enable boot logging, last known good config again restarts the laptop, the directory services repair gives a long list of files then a screen saying it is booting in safe mode and then restarts itself. The rest of the options just restart the laptop! My friend cant find any recovery disks, but seeing as how it was bought from Argos i think I would think it more likely that the laptop has a recovery partition rather than a recovery disk. is there anyway i can access the partition to try and fix the laptop? there are no other disks. The laptop is a Toshiba L300D-202, with Windows Vista home premium 32 bit as the OS. Any other information needed just yell! thank you!!
