is 5v 300mA wall charger safe for ipod touch?

hi there, I have a wall power converter that has an output of 5V 300mA. this is not a charger that I got specifically for an ipod touch. i want to know if it is safe if I charge my ipod touch on this using the 30-pin USB cord I got with my itouch. thanks!
