How could you keep your family safe in one of these tornado outbreaks ?

I've just moved to oklahoma city in oklahoma where is mostly known as tornado alley, i didn't want to move but i had to because of my job relocation. Since i've heard on television on the news back in 1999 about the deadliest may 3rd 1999 tornado outbreak in history, i never would want to move here if it wasn't for my job. But does anything like that ever happen here often ? People said that tornadoes here in Oklahoma forms into the deadly F5 tornadoes that is about a mile wide in diameter. What are some ways i could make sure my wife & family is safe during one of these outbreaks if I'm away from home ? Also, how could i keep myself safe if i am on the 34th floor in an building with only express elevators ? The elevators don't have stops between floors Lobby - 29th. I'm very curious about my family's safety and mine's in case if one of these tornado outbreaks occurs

1. Look for a new job.
2. I've driven up highway 35 coming from Texas and seen 9 or more tornadoes coming across OK. I don't care what the job pays, money is no good if your dead.
3. Check with your boss and see if there is a pre plan in place for your building. It may have interior rooms that are reinforced or the restrooms. Get far away from glass windows and the wind could blow you out of the building. The safest place is underground. A basement away from windows is good. Most housing is built on concrete pads but may have an emergency room reinforced for storms. Have a pre emergency plan with your family and keep essential supplies (water, food, meds, sanitation, clothes, flashlight, radio, blankets, first aid, etc.) for at least 3 days in a ready bag you can grab quick. hit the FEMA website for more information.
