Temporary Home Symptom Relief for Lymphatic Cancer in Terminally Ill Canine?

She has battled cancer for 15 months (several chemo options and 3 remissions but the cancer came back worse), today, the vet told us there was no more treatment options left. He tried to get us to put her to sleep today. We refused. We would like to keep her alive and comfortable for as long as possible. Both of these things go hand in hand. My object with this question is to increase her comfort. I tried to get the vet to call in liquid medicine for IV but he wouldn't do it. We live 2 hours from the veterinary specialists. He said that the chemo punctures in the vein harden them. Despite the fact I knew this and know how to give a dog IV (several jobs working in Vet Clinics) he still didn't feel comfortable with it. I respect that. I refuse to let her lay there unable to hold her head up without labored breathing from the swollen lymph nodes putting pressure on her trachea. I know that there are homeopathic remedies. Essiac Tea which we have ordered a 2lb bag to be shipped over night to our house to start administering the treatment. The shipment will arrive before 12pm. We have to prepare and boil the tea and its a 12 hour process. I cant treat her at the latest until tomorrow night at 12am. I just want to know if in the meantime, since her medication is not helping, is there any remedy that I can run to the store and buy that may help the swelling go down? A medicine meant for humans that I can mathematically re-adjust crush and mix with broth and administer that is safe for dogs and non effective with the medicine she is currently on? Is there an herb or anything I might be able to do for her until I can start administering the tea? Please help. And we all know that he or none of his immediate relatives met their bitter end through cancer. I find it amusing that if your mother/father/sister were dying of cancer you'd let them suffer in the hospital and let them be "tortured" by their condition. If you wanted to be euthanized while you were terminal, you would need to legally sign an affadavit and also undergo a complete psych eval. she cant do either. Please, I didn't ask you to attack my personal choice. i asked you to help me make her comfortable until I have another treatment option get here in the mail. 1. I guarantee JFKs dr said NO such thing. That "tea" is full of absoutely nothing and has cured not one animal nor human from anything except some money. To be sure, you don't actually believe that nonsense?? Forget testimonials, please provide us with some backed up studies on this tea. Can't find any?? I wonder why.. Actually, TWO Kennedy's, at least, have had cancer, so you are wrong there..look it up. Bone cancer, brain cancer, etc... So do you think if we had lymphoma, we could run to the drug store and pick up some otc meds to make us feel better?? The prednisone your dog is on is for swelling, the other for pain. If you don't let your dog go with dignity and compassion, you will be torturing him till the excruciatingly painful end of his life. And I've worked for vets before also and I've also had to have pets put to sleep because I don't believe in torture. 2. Why do you keep torturing this poor animal? I have been through cancer treatment with fewer side effects than average and would still hesitate to put myself through it all again if it returned. Why keep trying to extend her life when the quality of her life is so poor? Euthanasia is legal for animals. As I have watched close family and friends die from cancer I have joined with them in hating the fact that euthanasia is illegal for humans where we live. I hope and pray it is legalised by the time I need it. If you truely love this animal you will do what is best for her, not what is best for you and euthanase.
