She has battled cancer for 15 months (several chemo options and 3 remissions but the cancer came back worse), today, the vet told us there was no more treatment options left. He tried to get us to put her to sleep today. We refused. We would like to keep her alive and comfortable for as long as possible. Both of these things go hand in hand. My object with this question is to increase her comfort. I tried to get the vet to call in liquid medicine for IV but he wouldn't do it. We live 2 hours from the veterinary specialists. He said that the chemo punctures in the vein harden them. Despite the fact I knew this and know how to give a dog IV (several jobs working in Vet Clinics) he still didn't feel comfortable with it. I respect that. I refuse to let her lay there unable to hold her head up without labored breathing from the swollen lymph nodes putting pressure on her trachea. I know that there are homeopathic remedies. Essiac Tea which we have ordered a 2lb bag to be shipped over night to our house to start administering the treatment. The shipment will arrive before 12pm. We have to prepare and boil the tea and its a 12 hour process. I cant treat her at the latest until tomorrow night at 12am. I just want to know if in the meantime, since her medication is not helping, is there any remedy that I can run to the store and buy that may help the swelling go down? A medicine meant for humans that I can mathematically re-adjust crush and mix with broth and administer that is safe for dogs and non effective with the medicine she is currently on? Is there an herb or anything I might be able to do for her until I can start administering the tea? Please help. She is on 200mg of Tramidol She is on 80 mg of Predgnisone The tea has brought animals and humans back from the brink of death with cancer. It's kind of my only hope left and its a pretty powerful hope to have since the testimonials are remarkable. JFK's personal doctor said that Essiac Tea cures cancer, period. And we all know that he or none of his immediate relatives met their bitter end through cancer. I need to know what I might have around the house or that I can go get in a pharmacy or supermarket anywhere close that may help her feel better until we can start the tea. Her meds dont seem to be working enough right now the vet said we cant up them anymore. Its strange though. She always acts this way when she comes home from the doctor and she feels better afterwards. I'm hoping its psychosomatic but its worrisome either way. I find it amusing that if your mother/father/sister were dying of cancer you'd let them suffer in the hospital and let them be "tortured" by their condition. So, why aren't we able to euthanize humans? If you were in a desperate situation with someone you loved that you considered not a pet but part of your family? You would try essiac tea too if you had no hope left. Please be honest here. I didn't ask you to tell me to kill my dog. I asked you to help me make her more comfortable. JFK's doctor did infact say that in a sworn affidavit in 1990. http://www.compassion-response.net/08Treatments/06Essiac.htm Ihttp://www.docstoc.com/docs/18569618/A-Native-American-Cancer-Remedy With all due respect, I mean it, I respect if you would put your dog down if in fact it was yours. But If your question is not helping. I will report it as advocating harm which is a valid way to report answer per guidelines- She is part of my family. If you wanted to be euthanized while you were terminal, you would need to legally sign an affadavit and also undergo a complete psych eval. she cant do either. Please, I didn't ask you to attack my personal choice. i asked you to help me make her comfortable until I have another treatment option get here in the mail. I made it clear I wasn't going to do that. So if you can not help me or respect my choice please refrain from answering. Please stop trolling for points by attacking another individuals beliefs and hope. You must respect others. This isn't about points. It's about helping and respecting others. I say this with the utmost respect for even the ones I reported. I would respect your choice. This isn't about your choice, though. http://www.sptimes.com/News/111199/JFK/family-tree.shtml jfk's family tree. His cousin had his leg amputated because of cancer. Nobody died of it in Kennedy's personal physician's life time or in his family before his cousin in 1960's.
