what is the safest area to rent an apartment in abilene tx?

i'm moving from FL to abilene,tx with my family. I would like to know the safest area to move and if anyone knows better apartments to go with.I've read reviews online but everyplace has good & bad reviews.I may have to work 3rd shift and want my family to feel safe at home alone.
