Reviews of the "WalkyDog" Bike attachment?

For anyone with the "WalkyDog" bike attachment device.... http://www.amazon.com/Walky-Hands-Free-Bicycle-Leash/dp/B003OYIAW4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1300322390&sr=8-1 ... would you recommended it? Our dog is an extremely fast and energetic 1 year old female husky; who is an EXTREME puller, and will *never* heal. So, for a dog that's not well trained as far as healing, (she's 100% at all other commands, however) would you advise it? Plus, my dad is really worried that she'd run under the bike. Is this possible? Or is the dog far enough away from the bike to keep a safe distance? THANK YOU! =)

  1. I would say no.
  2. If she pulls, then I'd most certainly say it's a bad idea. One important thing about riding a bike with a dog is that you have to be able to stop, and dogs who pull generally aren't very good at stopping. She might also see a rabbit/squirrel/distraction and pull you over.
  3. It looks ok, as long as the leash is short enough to stop her from crossing in front of the bike - but still I don't think I'd go with it because of her not been trained to heel. I'd be worried about her taking off faster than you are cycling though and pulling the bike over, or you stopping and her running still, it could cause a lot of accidents. I've never been a fan of dogs who don't know to stay next to their owners been attached to a bike because of the potential accidents.
  4. i would not suggest that one at all, especially for a dog not used to it and who is strong ... you need one that attaches to the back tire ... attached to the seat pole or front of bike, and that dog will pull you off the bike ... the back tire is the most secure place to attach ... the dog will learn very quickly how to run with the bike ... my dog is 14 pounds and she has never come close to the bike ... http://shopadogsbestfriend.com/k9cruiserbicycleleash.aspx i would advise running your dog with the bike ... a husky likes to run and will love biking with you ... it does not matter if the dog is trained to heal, as long as you can bike fast all will be well :O) the website i posted answers some of your questions as well ...
  5. I have been using the Walkydog attachment you mention for just over a year now with both my small dog and my sister's large dog and would recommend. It is extremely safe and relies on your weight keeping the seat firm, so unless you are less than 8.5 stone, it will be stable. The attachment keeps a dog slightly out, away from the wheels. I wouldn't bike with your dog with him wearing a collar - a harness will be needed for comfort and safety. The EzyDog classic chest plate harness is recommended for use with Walkydog as it is padded. Certainly it is a lot of fun and will use up a great deal of your dog's surplus energy! I don't bike on the road at all - just don't think it is safe but we go on paths through woods and in the countryside. I didn't think I'd enjoy it so much but my little dog just cries to go wenever he sees my mountain bike! Hope you try it, as your husky is just made for it!
  6. Hey I see that you need some sort of guide that will give you tips and tricks to help your dog become fully trained so I looked online too. I come across the dog training academy course it has worked out to be the best think I bout online in while. It could be what you’re looking for. It took about a month to fully train him with this guide. I hope it works for you.
