How do I remove Vista Home Security?

I got this thing popping up called "Vista Home Security" and a search on bing confirmed my suspicions that it is indeed a scam virus. I exited out of it without confirming anything, but notices still pop up. I looked on bing for how to remove it, and a couple of websites recommend that I download a program to do it for me. I'm worried that these programs might also be malicious. Please help me find a program that you know is safe! Thank you so much!

It is possible that the infection you are trying to remove will not allow you to download files on the infected computer. If this is the case, then you will need to download the files on another computer and then transfer them to the infected computer. You can transfer the files via a CD/DVD, external drive, or USB flash drive. This infection changes settings on your computer so that when you launch an executable, a file ending with .exe, it will instead launch the infection rather than the desired program. To fix this you must first download a Registry file that will fix these changes.
