what is uTorrent and is it safe to use on my computer?

I had a guest in my home who came to try and help me distinguish whether or not my computer had a virus. I have AVG already but he ended up putting Avast, Panda and eventually AVG 2012 on my computer. After he left I reviewed his activity and found that he also added uTorrent 3.1. I need help.

1. 3.1. that's an old version of it, i use 5.0. it is safe an you can use with btjunkie.net. its really ok
2. uTorrent is a dlient to download torrent from the net. The program is safe but not sure what you download with it is.
3. utorrent is best one to download .sometime malware found .but most of the download is daily done from there.
4. utorrent is safe.but not all torrents themselves are safe.just be carefull what you download.but i cant help but notice you have three antivirus programs.you should never run more than one in real time.why would your friend install Avast,Panda and AVG 2012 on your computer.you really should pick one and remove two of them.
5. Well utorrent is a p2p service and is absolutely safe to use. But it is also the most popular way for online piracy as well. Hence as long as you do not exchange or download pirated material from torrent sites, you don't have to worry. But whatever you download, just be sure to scan that thing from a good antivirus.
