Is sanding dry-wall safe while pregnant?

The room the sanding needs to be done in is a small bathroom, so it shouldn't take very long. If I wear a mask over my face is it safe to sand the wall if I am 5 months pregnant?

  1. Wear a good mask and turn on the fan.
  2. no
  3. I wouldn't reccomend it.
  4. yeah it should be safe
  5. Absolutely not! While there is no harm in the drywall itself, the dust can get into your system!
  6. Use a safe mask which includes a purified breathing device always, pregnant or not.
  7. If you're doing your OLD house I'd be wary as sometimes old homes have lead-based paints. Otherwise, your mask and good judgement should be alright!
  8. I would not attempt it!!!! No mask will protect you from breathing in the dust 100%....so having said that, put that project on the back burner for now.
  9. As long as your wearing a mask that prevents the dust going into you, i'm sure it's fine.
  10. surely you can get some1 to do it 4u.whats more important the room or baby, better safe then sorry,i wouldnt chance it
  11. I was working on this kind of stuff while my wife was pregnant, and I wouldn't even let her in the same room as me. I wiped the walls thoroughly and made sure everything was cleaned up before I let her go into that room again. I didn't want to take any chances.
  12. Your not talking about dusting a piece of furniture. When you exert any energy it will effect the baby as sanding requires allot of strength, and it can cause a miscarriage, or bleeding. I would say that NO it is not safe
  13. i would see no problem as long as you wear a good mask and dont over do it. i am pregnant and we are remodeling a house, and i helped with this kind of stuff :) not much cause i would get tired though
