Where and how can we find a decent home in a safe neighborhood/town in NJ or PA?

We can only get a mortgage for $100,000 We are looking to buy a decent home in a safe town (low crime rate) but still stay in New Jersey. Don't know where to look, haven't found anything except in high crime areas. Any suggestions?

There is no safe neighborhood in either of those states unless you can get a huge brick house with a 12 ft. high brick fence around it and 8 doberman pinchers.
PA is a good choice for a better crime rate...also look into school statistics and traffic patterns as well as tax's and so many other things to consider but 100grand ain't alot to work with close to the city you might do better farther from the big city and that would be less crime but a further commute to work well hope the best for you...
If you can afford to beforehand, travel to and visit the areas you were thinking about moving to. If you can't, contact their local papers who would usually carry this information free to newcomers. Also, I live in western Oklahoma and you can find a home out here for far less than that and still have a good neighborhood. You're lucky to find a good neighborhood for that price on our nation's coasts.
Anyhere but Camden and Newark!!!!!! LOL But seriously, try looking in NJ, around Egg Harbor City, Mays Landing, Haminton (or Hammonton?) area. If you like trees, squirrles and deer...that's the place for you! Places on the beach are too expensive, places up north and west usually have high crime rate, princeton/cherry hill is too expensive. Around this area you're within 1 hr of the beach and 1 hr of Philly (depending on traffic). There are two downsides thou: high insurance rates, and shoobies...which, like me, you will learn to hate!!!!!!
