  1. This advise is pain free easy and non-invasive, my vet reccomeds it. Smother the tick and surrounding area with vaseline. I mean put loads on really thick. The tick will not be able to breathe and will die and just drop off within a day or so. It's so easy and does not require you to hurt your dog by trying to pinch it out. Best of luck :D EDIT: Rubbing alcohol or NAil Polish Remover is bound to sting....
  2. pull them off put rubbung alcohol to clean then put a small amout of petrolium jelly on the area, keep a watch on it that it does not become infected, it will swell a bit, please start your dog on frontline ask your vet
  3. Wooahh, I heard the first two methods were incorrect. When my dog got a tick, various places online told me to use tweezers to GENTLY/SLOWLY pull out the tick, being sure not to crush it in the process to prevent stufff from the stomach going in to the dog.
  4. It doens't hurt your dog to take them off - ticks are tiny, and dogs withstand far worse. Althouh it sounds nice to wait for the vaseline to work, keep in mind that the viruses that ticks carry can be transmitted in their mouth parts within 12 hours of attachment - this is from the tick researchers, and I'm not making it up - so you want to get those little creeps off your dogs, mouthparts and all, as soon as humanly possible. I would get the tick of as best you can, then put the vaseline on to work out the rest if necessary - but get it off as soon as possible, and watch for signs of flu-like symptoms and lameness.
