will it be safe to put my digital camera into my hold luggage?

I'm will fly on monday and due to th security alert i won't be able to carry my digital camera with me on the aircraft so i was wondering if it will be safe to put the camera in the suitcase that i wil check in?

4. i've done it, nothing's happened. bundle it up in between clothes so it's padded and secure. happy flying!

6. Leave it at home and get some disposable cameras when you get to your destination
7. Remove the batteries and place camera in a small tupperware box or else wrap in a hand towl and wedge it between clothes so that it doesn't move around much. (If putting in a tupperware box make sure it doesn't move around by wedging in a small towel or bubblewrap)

9. I took mine in my case last itme I went to see my parents(in spain) I just made sure that it was well wrapped in its case and then in a jumper and had it in the middle of the case. Enjoy your holiday. xx
10. if you value it don't take it .... 6 flights in a year- four times my suitcase has been rifled through... many low lifes work in the baggage department..... can you afford to have it nicked?
11. I've never had any problems - it'll be covered by insurance, won't it? You can always get another
12. it should be safe if you pack around it with clothes etc ..put it inside socks as well and pad around! unfortunately the downside would be "theft".. hopefully that won't happen.. what i would advise also is that you put the memory cards for the camera at seperate bits of your case.. so a/ they don't go missing and b/ so you don't loose valuable pics you may have on them! i know you will want to take your camera with you.. i would too.. but if it's really valuable.. i wouldn't recommend, unless you really have too.. at this time.. thieves will be rife..dependant on which country you are going to also.. but travelling from UK you will need to put it into your hold luggage..good luck x PS if you get this message before Monday (today) please double check with your airline to make sure your flight is still going etc.. as lots of flights are still be cancelled today due BAA not being able to cope at airports.. and they have asks airlines to cancel a percentage of their flights! Also be ready for some delays..especially if its heathrow or gatwick airports but others may still experience problems.. good luck again x safe flying.. and safe camera arrival x
